Overview

About the property

2 Bedroom Thatched Cottage in Ruan Minor, Ideally Situated For Coastal Walks, Sandy Coves, Gardens and local attractions.

Trying to keep the character of this 18th century thatched labourers dwelling, Anna's Cottage is tastefully furnished with antique furniture, yet well supplied with modern conveniences including WiFi.

Upstairs there is one double room with an antique brass bed, and one single bedroom. A safety gate at the top of the stairs ensures your child's safety.

There is also a double sofa bed in the lounge. In addition the lounge has a mezzanine sleeping platform (single). So although ideally suited to sleep three, six can be accommodated.

The downstairs bathroom features an "L" shaped bath with electric shower and a separate toilet enclosure.

The second bathroom with shower, basin and WC can act as an en-suite for those sleeping in the sofa bed and sleeping platform.

The small beamed sitting room has a fan electric fire in addition to the night storage heater. The flat screen freeview TV also has a DVD player attached. There are an assortment of books available, please feel free to swap.

The lounge (originally "The Old Carpenters Shop") has a vaulted ceiling with skylight and wood burning stove. This room is accessed by its own porch or from the sunroom at the rear of the kitchen, and has a dining area.

The kitchen is well equipped with hob, oven, microwave and toaster to heat food.

To cool it there are separate freezer and fridge.

The dishwasher will take care of the washing up.

An adjoining cuboard houses the washing machine along with the hot water tank, ironing board and clother airer.

An extension is at the rear of the kitchen; this is the sunroom with glass roof.

The stable door leads to the garden, the outside furniture allows for "Al Fresco" dining. The charcoal Barbecue is available to char the odd sausage or burger.

The small garden with a quince tree and various shrubs is fully enclosed allowing your pet and/or children to remain safely within the boundaries.

There is exclusive off road parking next to the cottage.

With fresh flowers and a welcoming cream tea, many visitors return every year where Anna's Cottage is home from home.

About Mrs Anna Fowles

I live in Mullion, Cornwall with my husband David. We have lived here for over 30 years as David served with the Royal Navy at the nearby RNAS Culdrose.

With David retired, we both wanted to stay in Cornwall as we love the area.

Mrs Anna Fowles purchased this cottage in 1999

Why Mrs Anna Fowles chose Helston

We loved the idea of being able to look after a building that has stood for over 250 years. Being thatched just added to the attraction. We have recently acquired and renovated the attached "Old Carpenters Shop" which may be even older than the Cottage.

The local area is so diverse. If the wind is from the West, there are East facing beaches. If the wind is from The East, there are West facing beaches. You can hire boats from Falmouth and Helford. There is the coastal path where you can imagine yourselves as Ross and Demelza Poldark. There is horse riding. There is Golf.

What makes this cottage unique

Going down to the local pub in Cadgwith on a Friday evening is not to be missed. The local fishermen "The Cadgwith Singers" entertain. If the weather is good, they will be singing on the beach.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Our third stay at the cottage and it's as warm, clean and comfortable as ever. This is the place where you can totally relax. The cream tea was very welcome and made a perfect start to a lovely holiday.

J, R, C & M (the dog). Apr 2014

We love the cottage & the cream tea was a lovely idea as it saved cooking! We walked every day so surely burned off the callories! Fave walks were from the left of the church to Carlean Cove & along the coast to Cadgwith. All of the walks on the Lizard, Church Cove and our absolutely favourite was around Helford Village. It is simply beautiful and the pub overlooking the river is like a picture postcard. (the beer is fab too!). Coverack is also a must and if you have time, St Ives & The Minnack at Porthcurno. Last but not least is Cadgwith Cove itself - the jewel in the crown. We love it all & so will you.

P.S. Have to go home cos the dog needs a rest.

C & G (E the Lurcher). Sep 2014

This is our 3rd visit to your lovely cottage. It was as much fun as our 1st two visits. Such a beautiful cottage with much care and attention. Thank you so much. We can't wait to come back.

Lovely cottage. Very much recommended

  • 5 of 5

This beautiful cottage is situated perfectly, in short distance from all the must-see places on the Lizard. It is in walking distance from Cadgwith Cove where you can find a friendly and always busy pub. Just a few meters down the road there is a convenience shop and post office. The cottage itself has an older part that contains a front sitting room, bathroom, and a double and single bedroom upstairs. The kitchen connects between the old and new part. In the new part there is a conservatory, a large lounge, and a modern bathroom. There is also another single sleeping area above the lounge.Very much recommended.

Absolutely perfect!!

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful, spacious cottage with plenty of room for two couples. Exceeded our expectations is every way and Anna went out of her way to provide some lovely surprises like the cream tea and fresh daffodils on the tables.

Everything we could need and more was there for us. it really was just like a beautiful home from home.

Just a short drive to lizard point, we would all definitely love to come back.

Thank you for all that you do.

Julie

  • 5 of 5

A stunning little cottage that we can't wait to stay in again. A beautiful little hamlet with a lovely walk down to the beach which our golden retriever loved. We love Cornwall and now we have found our perfect little get away. Thankyou Anna for sharing your home with us :))))

Owner's Response: Thank you for your comments. We are extending the cottage to include the attached building which will be converted to a living room with sofa bed. It will also have its own toilet and shower room. Hopefully this will make the cottage more comfortable and roomier for guests. Anna.
