The Old Chapel in Chittlehamholt, near Barnstaple, North Devon, England - A Charming And Friendly Village

The Old Chapel has been tastefully converted from a former Gospel Hall dating back to 1838 into a 3 bedroom Cottage sleeping 2 - 5 people.It is detached and built in attractive stonework with feature chapel style windows enjoying extensive views of Dartmoor and the Taw Valley.

The Old chapel is situated in the middle of the quaint rural village of Chittlehamholt opposite The Exeter Inn which does very good food. On the outskirts of the village is the Highbullen Golf and Country club with a 18 hole golf course and large indoor pool and gym facilities. 3 miles further on is Chittlehampton which has a very popular award winning pub.

Fantastic house. The Old Chapel offers peace and serenity. Perfect place for a complete chill out.

Our stay was planned as a surprise for our 82 year old mother. Her youngest brother whom she hadn't seen for 10 years lives in Barnstaple. Unfortunately Mum took ill and had to be hospitalised in North Devon General Hospital. She was there for three days. During that time Sue and Roy, owners of The Old Chapel, we're so kind, checking each day how Mum was.

As to the Old Chapel itself, a beautiful place to stay with all that is needed to make your stay comfortable.

The Exeter Inn across the road served excellent food if you didn't feel like cooking.

Extremely Impressed

Sue greeted myself and my husband together with two of our close friends, showed us over the Chappel, it's was exceptionally clean and very well cared for. Milk, tea and coffee plus some Cadbury's biscuits and as it was Easter some little Easter eggs. The bedrooms were wonderful, beds so comfortable and lovely duck down pillows, slept like a log. Kitchen was fully equipped, front room, very comfortable, plenty of reading material, games, and DVD's, Wifi as well.There was everything you could wish for and more. I would not hesitate to recommend this property to anyone. Thank you Sue and Roy

Beautiful chapel

We stayed 3 nights.The chapel is beautifully appointed everything you needed was there and spotlessly clean.Sue and Roy met us and explained the heating ect. The village was very quiet and friendly.We would defiantly recommend the chapel and will stay there again.

Perfect Retreat

This conversion is perfect, every comfort and all amenities tastefully selected by the owners. Great food to be had at a number of local pubs, village shop if you run out of anything. The owners are great and give any help you might need. We will definitely be going back. Thanks for a great week

Beautiful property, highly recommended.

We really enjoyed our week's stay in The Old Chapel. The property has been refurbished and decorated to a very high standard throughout and was very clean and comfortable. Everything we needed had been provided and there were some nice touches such as the biscuits, tea, coffee and milk provided on arrival and the baskets of toiletries in the bathrooms. Our party's ages ranged from 9 to 73, but everyone enjoyed their stay here and would recommend the property.
