Cottage in Culbone, Nr. Porlock, Somerset - Peaceful Location, steeped in history in glorious hillside position
Sleeps 3 (I double bed + 1 single bed). This is a Friday to Friday let (cottage ready from 3pm onwards). Open plan living room and kitchen dining area. Parsonage Otter Stables offers a perfect base for touring or walking on Exmoor. It is secluded, yet just 16 mins drive from the pretty village of Porlock and around the same driving time to Lynton/Lynmouth. Cosy in Winter and beautiful in Summer, set in lovely scenery with a private garden.
About the Owner
Jeremy's family have been in the house since 1949! Today, Jeremy & Paivi Payne have been refining their holiday properties for several years, and are still trying to improve every week and year! After many good years with Cottages 4 You and Welcome Holidays, we're finally in a position to run and man the house for ourselves!
Jeremy is a former advertising copywriter and Paivi is a teacher. They have travelled extensively and worked for many years in Hong Kong. They are accompanied most of the time by the noisy Wooster, a miniature Schnauzer, and their troupe of chickens. Whatever you need to know about walks, restaurants and other local stuff, if we're around we're always happy to tell you! Oh, and you can order freshly baked bread and home made marmalade for breakfast from us, too!

It can be wild in Winter, but that's part of it's charm, coming home to a warm supper and a cosy fire. In Summer, Exmoor can be almost breathtakingly beautiful - it's surely British tourism's best kept secret. Maybe it's time you discovered it for yourself!”
Activity and Interests
Special interest holidays:
Right on the Coleridge Way, the property is ideal for walking holidays on Exmoor. It is also a magnet for stargazers, with some of the best dark skies in the country. Riders are offered a variety of options from pony trekking to all-day hacks across the moor, at numerous local equestrian establishments.
Porlock Weir and nearby Bossington have pebble beaches. For sandy beaches, the best options are in Woolacombe and Saunton Sands, North Devon, just 50 mins drive away.
Nearest airports are Bristol (1 hr 45 mins) and Exeter (1 hr 30 mins.)
Beautiful Exmoor is ALL AROUND YOU!
Porlock Weir, with pubs and restaurants, is about 10 mins drive.
Porlock is about 16 mins drive, with gift shops and a variety of pubs.
Picturesque Lynton/Lynmouth is around 17 mins drive, with cliff railway, 'Power of Water' exhibition, and cute shopping streets and restaurants.
We are just 5 minutes from 'The Culbone', an award-winning local bistro/pub. See: www.theculbone.com and about 20 minutes from the 'Cross Lane House Hotel', see: crosslanehouse.com , for fine dining.
There are two mini-markets in Porlock and supermarkets (Tesco & Morrisons) in Minehead which WILL deliver if you order online.
