This fabulous apartment is part of the luxury Estrela da Luz resort and offers sea views onto the Atlantic. Estrela is situated in a quiet location, right in the centre of Praia da Luz and is literally a few minutes’ walk from the beach, restaurants & shops.

The Apartment is luxurious and stylishly furnished and offers many special features – a large double bedroom and lounge with dining area, 2 balconies (1 with table/chairs & 1 with sun loungers), a fully fitted modern kitchen with dishwasher and washing machine and a beautiful bathroom. Air-conditioning (for cooling/heating) is also fitted. There is a 50” TV & DVD player with a full range of International channels. Also, free Wi-Fi & free underground parking are provided. Lastly, the apartment´s windows and balconies face onto the Sea and are therefore not overlooking the pools/bar/restaurant areas, which makes it a very quiet location, within the resort.

About Michael Tiernan & Helene Leuschel

We are a British/German couple who moved to the Algarve in 2009, with our two young children, after falling in love with the area. Ever since moving to Portugal we have not only grown fond of the friendly welcoming nature of the Portuguese people but also the incredible life style of living by the Sea. The sun (over 300 days of sunshine each year) & stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean are still jaw-dropping, even after all these years and we have been able to explore the area and its numerous attractions and places of interest with great pleasure. We love having a beach picnic as much as dining out at one of our favourite local restaurants & we are sure that you will too!

We purchased the property, because we just love the quiet and picturesque location of Praia da Luz. Being demanding travellers ourselves, we wanted something that offered all of the luxuries that are needed, to make a holiday very special & after a very long and thorough search, we found an apartment in Estrela da Luz, that literally ticked all of the boxes.

What makes this apartment unique

We really do feel that our apartment is very special & enjoy it for a host of reasons - it’s luxurious, very spacious, has sea views from the lounge, kitchen & bedroom, there is access to all of Estrela’s facilities - heated pools, Jacuzzi, Sauna, Gym, tennis courts, gardens & it’s only a short walk to the beach & all local amenities - Restaurants, supermarkets, shops etc. It is very comfortable all year round, with air-conditioning & heating……yes, even though the sun is always close by, it can still be a little chilly in January! We also appreciate the special little touches, such as free parking & wifi, lots of space for kids beds/toys etc, a 24 hour reception & last but not least, a decent sized TV to relax in front of with a glass of wine, after a long ‘hard’ day at the beach :-)

Nothing was too much trouble!

We would highly recommend a stay in this apartment. Apart from the fact that it is very conveniently situated and also furnished to a very high standard, Michael was so helpful before, during and after our stay, even offering for my 10 year old son to practice with his son's football team! We will definitely be returning.

10 days of Relaxation

The location of of the resort is perfect, the center of the resort is 5 minutes walk away. As for eating out there is so much choice and all of the restaurants we visited were great.

Michael gave us a great info sheet which we made good use of & visited places & restaurants we might not otherwise have considered.

The apartment is large, airy & clean. The kitchen is extremely well equipped, and there was always shade & sun on one or other of the two balconies. Our only reservation was that the pool area was a little noisy from the pool cleaning system.

Immaculate and stylish

Everything was just right. Our apartment was clean, attractive and comfortable, just as advertised. The common areas were well maintained, the landscaping pretty and the adult pool area was quiet and calm. The water temperature of the pool was pleasant, even for someone like me who needs it quite warm. The walk to the beach was a bit further than expected, the sea front is only five minutes but the beach an additional 5 minutes. It's a pleasant walk along the front, though, and the beach is pretty with incredibly soft sand. The sea water is extremely cold, however, and for swimming we were glad of our warm pool at Estela da Luz. We enjoyed Praia da Luz very much as it is quieter than some resorts, which suited us, but with plenty of restaurants to choose from. We also went, a couple of times, to the village next door called Burgau, which we also enjoyed. We had a really great pizza near the water front and enjoyed the local bar. The owners of our apartment were incredibly friendly and helpful and responded quickly to our enquiries. I was impressed how willing they were to help in any way, such as flexible check-in and check-out times. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend both our apartment and Estrela da Luz.

Excellent Accommodation - extremely helpful owners

This is a beautiful apartment with everything you could need for a great stay.

There is a spacious living area, large bedroom, fully fitted kitchen, two great balconies, so that you can have sun all day. Michael the owner was great throughout, from booking until we left. As this was our first holiday with our 14 month old daughter, we had so many questions which Michael always answered for us straight away. He even organised a very comfy travel cot for our daughter which was set up and in place when we arrived at the apartment. The apartment itself is within walking distance of a supermarket, bars, restaurants and a great beach. We hired a car and took a trip to the Zoo in Lagos which our daughter loved.

We would love to go back one day and would highly recommend this apartment. Thanks again Michael for all your help

Activity and Interests

Coast/Beach:

5 minute walk to the main Beach of Praia da Luz

Travel:

Airports and driving time/distance to Luz: (1) Faro, Portugal to Luz - 1 hour, 94 KM / 59 Miles. (2) Lisbon, Portugal to Luz - 2hr 45min, 303KM / 190 Miles. (3) Seville, Spain to Luz - 2hr 45min, 290 KM /181 Miles Faro.

Public transport (trains/buses) do not offer terribly good links between Faro Airport and Luz and most people either hire a car or take a taxi from the airport. A taxi costs approx. €80 each way.

Distances:

The apartment is located within a 5 minute walk to the beach, restaurants, supermarket, pharmacies and Luz town centre. The nearest large town/city, Lagos is 8 KM (5 miles) from Luz and is a must to visit. It’s also possible to walk to Lagos, over the cliffs from Luz (a safe walk). Numerous other beaches are also very close by.

Further Details:

The Algarve has something to offer for every age group, from water and adventure parks - Zoomarine, Slide & Splash, Crazy World, Mini Golf and the Lagos Zoo, to bird & dolphin watching, cycling and mountain biking, horse riding, an international outdoor go-kart circuit, surfing, shopping at one of the two open air modern malls to fine Michelin dining and the discovery of numerous historic sites and museums (Sagres in the West and Monchique, Silves, Alte and Estoi to name only a few other towns towards the Centre & Eastern part of the region).

Lagos alone has an art, science and wax museum, a vibrant Saturday morning fresh produce market and a chic and vibrant marina to watch the yachts anchored in the harbour. For those in need of a well-deserved rest, stunning stretches of sandy beaches are all along the coast, offering their own list of water sports from jet-skiing, windsurfing and kite surfing to boat rides and paddling.

There are luscious gardens throughout the resort with plenty of outside space to sit or lie by the pools (inside and outside).
