About the Owner

Will and I are both country people who met in Bristol in 1982. We both had quite stressful jobs and always dreamed of buying an old farmhouse in the countryside, in a peaceful, beautiful place, where we could have chickens, dogs and children. Luckily for us, we were finally able to make this dream a reality in 1999, when we bough a former farmhouse in a beautiful Somerset village. The house had an attached cottage, which was the old farm diary, and has been fully renovated to a very comfortable holiday home.

We are delighted to be able to share this beautiful place with our holiday guests and have met many lovely people since we started renting the cottage in 2003.

Guestbook comments from the owner

"You have put together a wonderful holiday experience, which I shall recommend to everyone at home. Loved the "four poster" bed, and such a quiet, clean, cosy and well equipped base to return to after our busy days exploring the area. Especially loved Wells cathedral with its ancient striking clock and medieval street, the farmer's market and the lovely rural walks here". Julie E. Surrey.

"Idyllic setting and everything in the cottage we could ever need! Sam and Daisy loved the toys and watching the chickens, while eating breakfast- a real treat! The beds are super comfy and its so quiet. We all enjoyed Wells, Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole caves, Noah's ark farm, the beach at Burnham and plenty of beautiful walks. Thank-you for all the advice and help we plan to come back next year" Henderson family -Cornwall.

" A lovely cottage in a great location, and so quiet. We have slept so well. We've enjoyed the nature reserves and seeing bittern for the first time. The village pub does great food and its good to see friendly faces all round,". Anne and Stefan, Belgium.

From the Owner

When I saw this house I recognised it as one I'd been having recurring dreams about! A large old farm house within high stone walls, with a huge Magnolia tree in the garden. Walking up the hill at the back and looking down on the house and cottage, we feel so fortunate to live in such a beautiful place. We are surrounded by magnificent and varied countryside. From the craggy hill tops you can see the coasts of Wales and North Devon. Yet we are only minutes away from England's smallest city of Wells. Or the exciting and very different cities of Bristol and Bath, with all the culture you could wish for. Parts of the house date back 1000 years. So we are just the latest custodians to enjoy living in this special place, and are happy to share this with our guests
