Beautifully restored Cornish cottage with sea views from all rooms

Overview

Property

Updated: 08-Dec-2016
St Ives - Peaceful location within a mile of the lively seaside town of St Ives

A beautifully restored period Cornish cottage in the hamlet of Trowan, just a stone’s throw from the popular sea side town of St Ives. Set within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and surrounded by ancient farm land, tin mines and spectacular cliff top views of the sea, Trowan is an oasis of calm. Enjoy the best of both worlds with the lively town and beaches of St Ives just a mile away or opt for lazy days in the extensive sea facing garden and patio.

Ideally situated for walkers with easy access to the coast path and a variety of other public footpaths from the front door that take you into St Ives or across to the delightful village of Zennor and the perennially popular Tinners Arms.

The cottage sleeps up to four people in two double bedrooms, both with views across the meadows to the sea. Downstairs is open plan for easy living. Slate floors, a fully equipped kitchen, large dining table and a comfortable lounge area with wood burner for cosy winter nights mean that you can self cater comfortably and in style.

The hamlet is situated at the end of a farm lane and has parking for 2 cars.

Fantastic quiet location to get away from it all but to also have access to St Ives and locality.

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was ideal for our family week - 2 adults, 2 teenage daughters and small dog. The garden is beautifully laid out and ideal for the dog as it is enclosed.

The facilities are first class and very comfortable.

You do need a car but you also have access to the coastal path that allows access to Zennor in one way and to St Ives the other.

The neighbours were fantastic and very helpful with local knowledge.

We would definitely visit again.

Beautiful property, that is equaled by setting and views.

Accurate listing, clean and very well maintained. I would highly recommend this property to other site users, as well as friends and relatives.

My wife, our two year old son and I enjoyed our 7 day stay. 3 days at the beach, a day at the Eden Project, a day at a jousting display at Pendennis Castle and a trip to Lands End filled our week easily, though we wouldn't return to the Eden Project. Local restaurants were excellent, we ate at HUB, Peppers Italian, Harry's Cali Style mexican in Hayle as well as preparing several evening meals at the cottage as our two year old settled down for bed after busy days.

An excellent holiday - we've already talked about returning to St Ives and booking the same property again.

Charming cottage close to St Ives

  • 5 of 5

This cottage is really charming, in a little hamlet about a mile out of St Ives right on the Coastal path towards Zennor.

The living, dining & kitchen opens out to a very nice garden & looks out to the sea. The beds are comfortable and the linen crisp & fresh. I loved being so close to St Ives but able to have the lovely peace of feeling like you were in the country.

It was warm and cosy and we enjoyed our stay very much.

Wow! Rosewall cottage was just perfect for us!

Booking the cottage for a week was a bit of an extravagance/stretch for us but so worth it - beautiful interior and a stunning location. Great base for exploring the coast. Tried to think of some construction criticism but can't - no negative points whatsoever. Didn't want to leave!

Hopefully be able to return in future years.

Special interest holidays:

The cottage is ideally situated for keen walkers - there are footpaths that run directly from the property and connect to the South West Coast Path. The coastal walk from the property to Zennor is a great walk that is challenging but rewarded by a visit to the Tinners Arms before an easier stroll through ancient farmland and burial paths back to Trowan.

The walk to St Ives is about 30 minutes across the fields or via the farm lane. The slightly longer walk along the coast path into town via Clodgy Point is spectacular and recommended for sunny days. Look out for seabirds, dolphins and seals before walking into town via Porthmeor Beach.

For surfers, Porthmeor beach in St Ives is the nearest beach, Hayle and Godrevy are a 20 minute drive away and the gently shelving beaches are great for children and beginners. There are a myriad of options along the coast road, including Sennen which has consistently good surf..

Coast/Beach:

Nearest beaches are in St Ives - 30 minutes walk or 5 minutes by car. Porthmeor is a very popular surf beach with surf schools, beach side bars and restaurants. The smaller, child friendly beach of Porthgwiddan is next along followed by dog friendly Bamamuz (low tide only). The harbour is a hive of activity with fishing trips, excursions to Seal Island, jet boat rides and self drive boats all on offer. On land, there many lively bars, restaurants and coffee shops together with good independent shopping. Porthminster is a large, child friendly sheltered beach popular with families. Many other beaches are within a short drive.
