Where History Meets Luxury Stay at The Old Millhouse situated in the Historic Town of Dalkeith. Set in 3 .5 acres of sweeping lawns with the River Esk wrapping its way round the perimeter.

5 mins walk to the town centre and local restaurants. The house is also conveniently reached in 20 minutes from Edinburgh Airport and 1 hour from Glasgow Airport, the local train station Eskbank a short 5 minute drive or taxi from the house takes you into Edinburgh centre in 10 minutes and access to main line to the North and South.

The house has central heating throughout, a real flame gas fire keeps you cosy in the Orangery and for an authentic country house atmosphere light the open log fire in the drawing room, where seasoned dried logs all chopped and ready to go.

Wi fi is available throughout the building and smart TV s to watch in drawing room and kitchen. A fully equipped kitchen is at your disposal, with induction range cooker, a coffee machine is available to make your mornings latte.

A fully stocked Fridge full of breakfast goodies is prepared for your arrival and the freezer has all the ice you will need.

A selection of teas and coffees are provided for the duration of your stay.

The house has 5 beautiful decorated bedrooms with the world famous Hypnos Beds which ensure a perfect nights sleep, feather duvets or Wool duvet can be requested, pure white cotton bedlinen and quilts adorn every bed.

All bedrooms are en suite with Bath robes, fluffy white towels and Scottish toiletries and Fresh flowers just add that finishing touch

The soothing sounds of the river make it hard to believe you’re just a few miles from Edinburgh ,Fishing can be arranged at no extra charge and the house is perfectly set up for a group of enthusiasts or friends who’d like to try their hand with a rod. The river is home to sea trout and the occasional salmon and depending on the season, its banks are scattered with snowdrops, daffodils and bluebells.

A meet and greet service will welcome you to the house with a chilled glass of bubbly or a lovely cup of tea whatever you prefer.

The Old Millhouse is ideal for visiting The Scottish Borders, Golfing in the world famous courses in East Lothain and visiting all the sights in Edinburgh.1703 Old Millhouse was a complete renovation project, the house had been abandoned and was on the Historic danger list my partner and I have painstakingly restored this stunning property . Its location is quite unique being in the centre of a town but with 3.5 acres of tranquil gardens and River frontage.

transport can be arranged to any Golf Course in Scotland.

As fishing is available at no charge in our grounds, we provide Rods to have a try at catching a trout or if your luck a salmon.

Chill out in our stunning Orangery, enjoying the views of the garden. No need to cook as we can arrange a private chef to spoil you and your guests.

We are happy to receive a grocery order from Tesco or Waitrose, our snug bar has complimentary wines and spirits and the fridge will be stocked with locally sourced goodies for you arrival.

Great family holiday

We had a lovely stay over the Easter holiday with our extended family. The house and grounds are very well maintained. Our little girl loved collecting the fresh eggs from the hens everyday. Sally couldn't have done more to make our stay enjoyable. Would definitely recommend and come back again!

As excellent choice!

Our family just returned home a few weeks ago from a wonderful stay at the Old Mill House. The house was perfectly accommodating for a mixed group of grandparents, parents, and three children all under 8 years old. There was plenty of space both inside and outside the house. Inside the house is clean, comfortably appointed, spacious, and beautifully decorated. The grounds of the property are well maintained and picturesque--with a troop of very friendly and prolific egg-laying chickens. The owner's son was very helpful and on hand for any questions or concerns that arouse. Dalkeith is a very convenient little town with a great playground for little ones and two grocery stores within walking distance. The drive to the train station is quick and easy and there is plenty of free parking. We all loved our time at the Old Mill House--it is highly recommended--and we all hope to go back someday.

Superb stay

Excellent property, perfect for our needs. It is very well designed, maintained and equipped. Sally is delightful and ensured we had the perfect stay, with help about transport, food, the locality etc. She rang taxi firms on our behalf : little extras like that made it all so easy for us and a great stay.
