About the property

Cottage in Ganarew, Nr. Monmouth, Monmouthshire, Wales - Peaceful Location, Extensive Walking & Cycling. Dog And Children Friendly

Ganarew is situated in a spectacular part of the Wye Valley around the area of the Wye Gorge and falls within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Whitchurch and Ganarew Parish is blessed with the largest number and greatest length of footpaths of any parish in the whole of the United Kingdom. This Character cottage has recently been renovated to a very high standard. It sleeps 8 comfortably in 4 spacious double/twin bedrooms. By using zip and link beds, we are able to offer a flexible set up with either twin rooms with good sized singles, or once linked together we can offer superking doubles instead. The Master bedroom enjoys fantastic views and includes an ensuite bathroom with a large bath and benefits from an adjoining nursery. Family bathroom is all newly installed as of 2015. It boasts a good sized bath and a high quality overhead shower unit. Main living room features wood burner and stone floor. The kitchen is very well equipped, but most importantly is the garage adjoining the kitchen. This provides essential wet-dog space, laundry facilities, indoor games room & bike and kayak storage.

About Katie

I live in Herefordshire with my husband, 2 dogs and various other animals in our small holding.

Katie purchased this cottage in 2014

Why Katie chose Forest of Dean district

The Cottage was bought in 2014 at auction in a poor state. It desperately needed some love and attention. We spent 9 months working with structural engineers, planning consultants and builders to restore the cottage to what you find today. It truly was a labour of love.

It became clear very early on that this would be a great holiday let. The village is very safe for children to play in and is connected to a vast array of footpaths. Also, for the size of the cottage it is incredibly spacious.

What makes this cottage unique

The property is just two miles from Monmouth and 10 minutes walk away from the famous Wye Valley, thus ideally located for walking.

My favourite part of this property and the location is the church opposite and the walk up the hill behind, where from the top you can look into both Wales and England.

Excellent, spacious, comfortable property.

Stayed with my father. Very well appointed and situated (for Wye Valley and Forest of Dean especially). Monmouth is very near and is an interesting, historical town with much feeling of community. Would like to go back again. Would be an excellent property for young families. Vey cosy and welcoming.

With an historic Tudor Dining Room restaurant, a more informal bar and conservatory and a very large garden, the Old Court provides for everyone
