About Liz and James Hitchcock

Hebe Cottage is owned by Liz and James. We fell in love with Wells and North Norfolk about 6 years ago and followed our dream of owning a cottage there. We bought Hebe Cottage in November 2014 and have enjoyed furnishing it as well as staying there as we prepare to welcome guests. We have two young children, hence our experience of Norfolk is from a family perspective, however we are looking forward to learning more as the family grow up. We hope you enjoy Hebe Cottage as much as we do!

Why Liz and James Hitchcock chose North Norfolk & Coast

We chose Hebe Cottage because of its proximity to the stunning beach at Wells.

As a family we have spent a lot of time cycling to enjoy the countryside and visit some of the local attractions. There are a huge number of events taking place throughout the year so it is also worth while checking out what's on before booking.

We are constantly surprised by the quality and number of places to visit; it really is a very special place.

What makes this cottage unique

We love the fact that we can walk to shops, high quality restaurants and even the beach.

The cottage is light and airy with a beautiful outside space meaning that we can enjoy evenings bbq-ing in the sun. It's rare in Wells to find such a secluded space at the heart of the town.

Perfectly located and beautifully presented cottage

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed for a week in May 2017, having previously stayed in Wells in August 2015. This cottage was beautifully decorated and had everything you could need. We like to cook and the kitchen was very well equipped and a nice size. The lounge area has a really comfy sofa, a good tv and good wifi. We occasionally sat out in the garden, which was a nice little sun trap. The garden, like the inside of the house, was kept very well.

The main bedroom has a comfy bed - could do with blinds as the room was very light from sunrise. Overall we liked the room. Both bathrooms were nice and we couldn't really have any complaints - we will definitely be returning in the future.

The location was perfect, just near to Staithe Street, which is effectively the high street of shops. A short walk to the pier and also not far from the Co-Op if you wanted a larger shop.

Wells is a lovely town and this was the ideal place to stay, would highly recommend.

Cosy house

  • 5 of 5

A tastefully converted and comfortable little house within easy walking distance of the sea. The high standard of the furnishing, design and cleanliness suggest this is really a second home and not just a holiday let. Despite being on a main street and terraced, it was incredibly quiet and peaceful and we loved our weekend stay and would highly recommend

Had an amazing time at Hebe Cottage!! Beautifully kitted out and great location!! Thank you :-)

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for 6 nights and loved every day staying in the cottage. Everything is that you need is there!! Both bedrooms are spacious enought and having 2 young boys they had their own bed next to each other which worked well. The double bed was very comfortable!! It has an open kitchen with sofa, tv area where you can relax and socialise and a lovely outside area to have a summers drink and dine. Location is perfect in the centre of wells. Only minus point is no parking however I managed to find spaces only a few minutes walk away. There are temporary spaces outside if available. We went to brancaster beach, holkham beach and Wells beach. We know the area very well as have holidayed for the last 6 years. Would 100% go back and book Hebe Cottage.

A charming property

  • 4 of 5

The property offered a town centre location just of the main high street. The property was well equipped and very comfortable. We know the Norfolk coast well so offered a great base to explore the areas around wells next the sea.
