Sunny Duplex in Vera Playa, Almeria, Spain - Gated and secure family complex.

On the award winning secure and gated Al Andalus Thalassa Resort our 3 bedroom Duplex with wifi and English TV looks onto the one of two communal pools in a quiet well maintained complex. The complex is set amongst beautifully landscaped gardens and is perfect for those who wish to simply relax and unwind but for those slightly more energetic it has tennis and panel tennis courts available to use at no extra charge. For the children there are several play areas and baby pools.

From Oct-June there is an indoor pool with Spa facilities such as a sauna, turkish bathing water jet next to a small fitness area.

This still relatively undiscovered part of Spain enjoys over 320 days of sunshine per year and even in the height of summer still has miles of uncrowded blue flag beaches.

Excellent duplex which was just as described in advert

Stayed in the duplex at Al Andulas Thalassa for 10 days in September and it was everything we wanted.

Kay was great to deal with, quick to reply to questions and although we had a late flight into Alicante she arranged that we were met by Anita who showed us around and gave us the keys.

It is situated in a good place on the complex, near the pool (open June to Sept) which was never too busy when we were there and the duplex was well equipped with everything you could need in a kitchen such as washing machine, iron & board, dishwasher, microwave and toaster which although we didn't use as we eat out was nice to have if required.

The lounge had a flat screen tv with all the British Freeview channels available via a little box so great for watching Sky news in the morning.

There were two couples staying and we chose this 3 bedroom property as it had aircon in the ground floor and double bedroom upstairs where as the 2 bedroom apartments only have it in one bedroom. We used to cool the room for 1/2 an hour before going to bed then used the fan provided to keep cool during the night and we all slept well on the comfy beds.

On the first floor there is a terrace with a seating area where we would have a drink on returning from a meal out , table and chairs for 6 and also a large gas barbeque which we did use one night and it worked really well ( the fresh Dorado from Consum was cheap and superb )

The place was clean and well maintained with good towels and bedding, plenty of hot water for 4 people to shower, lots of little things like beach umbrellas, mats, tennis rackets, books etc to borrow.

It is about 2km from the nearest beach and there are many more like Villaricos, Garucha and Mojacar Playa within 10 to 20 minutes drive.

There are plenty of restaurants and the two best ones we enjoyed were El Torrente (3 courses & Coffee €18) at Desert Springs Golf Resort about 15 minutes away and El Birra on the port in Garucha for it's fresh fish and seafood paella, there is also one about 10 minutes walk away La Peperina which looked good but we never got to it.

All in all if you want a quiet place to stay with comfortable accommodation and you don't mind driving or getting taxis ( €10 to Villaricos) to restaurants or are prefer to eat in then you'll be hard pressed to find better.

Wonderfull holidays

We had a very good time there. The house is as the photos showed. It is full equipated . you find everything that you can need for your stay and event more .... Things for playing paddel, tennis and all the stuff for the beach.... We visited all the villages and beaches around .... Simply marvellous!!! Just I can say that next year I will like to come back. Por cierto soy española y quizá mi ingles no sea muy bueno pero decir que tanto la casa como los alrededores merecen la pena!!! Lo recomiendo

Activity and Interests

Special interest holidays:

The area is well know and we'll used for cycling holidays particularly the routes to and from Carbonares up to Aguilas . There are several local cycling shops offering hire of the latest equipment.

Coast/Beach:

The property is less than 2km from the beach but a car is suggested as many beautiful beaches are avaliable with a maximum of a 30min car ride. A particular favourite for families with younger children is San Juan about 20mins north along a beautiful coastal road.

Travel:

Vera Playa is about 40mins drive from Almeria airport, 1hr 20mins from Murcia and and 2hrs from Alicante. All routes are via motorways and therefore very straight forward.

Car hire is essential to see and appreciate the beauty of the area but a regular bus service runs very close by to the local towns of Vera, Garrucha and Mojacar Pueblo and Playa.

Distances:

Vera Water Park can be seen from the top terrace and is a fabulous family day out. Go- Karting in Garrucha is about 10mins away.

Further Details:

Within a 5min car ride are two large supermarkets offering a full range of groceries, fresh fish and a lovely selection of local wines.

There is a small bar within a 5min walk serving the best Mojitos I have very tasted and a restaurant within 7-8mins.

Local banks and cash points are plentiful.

Outside: There is a downstairs covered patio with table and chairs. Upstairs there is a sun terrace with BBQ a table and chairs and sofa seating area. There is also a wind out sun awning/shade providing some welcom shade as this area is a real sun trap. The property looks out onto a large pool area with ample space for sunbathing and beautifully kept grounds with fountains and water features. Utility Room: Washing machine with drying rack and ample storage. Cleaning / Towels / Linen: The price includes "meet and greet" by our English key-holders, cleaning, all utilities, bath towels and bed linen (not beach towels). Extra cleans, towels and bed linen and welcome packages can be organised on request at an additional cost.
