About the property

Cottage in Dersingham, North Norfolk, Norfolk, England - Close To Many Beaches And Nature Reserves On The North Norfolk Coast And Numerous Other Attractions

This sympathetically extended traditional carrstone and brick cottage has several original features including an open fireplace with woodburner. Sleeping up to 6 people, the spacious rooms are beautifully decorated and comfortably furnished and everything is provided for a relaxing holiday. There is a large enclosed garden and amply off-road parking for two cars. There are numerous attractions nearby. Sandringham House, Country Park, visitors centre, shop and restaurant are within walking distance (unfortunately up a pretty good hill but, of course, it's far easier coming back!). Also part of the Royal Sandringham Estate is the pretty hamlet of Anmer with Anmer Hall the country home of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Houghton Hall is a little further as is Heacham Lavender with Farmer Fred's Adventure Play Barn which is a great hit with our younger guests. Great Bircham Windmill is very interesting and has lots of events during the year. Also a great place for a cup of tea and homemade cake. You can also hire bicycles here. The nature reserves of Snettisham and Titchwell and the famous North Norfolk coast are only a short drive away as are Burnham Market, Hunstanton and the historic town of King's Lynn. Fakenham is the new home of Langham Glass, owned by our very good friends Paul and Sue Miller and family. A must to see glass blowing 'live' and they also have wonderful shop and cafe. Just outside Fakenham is the Pensthorpe Nature Reserve and Gardens. The village of Dersingham has pretty well everything - the Budgens supermarket has a good bakery and deli. E H Prior and Sons, an excellent local butcher, has a shop in the village. There is a post office, garden centre, pottery and several fast food outlets including a really good fish and chip shop just a little further along Manor Road. The Feathers Hotel and the Coach and Horses public house both serve good beer, wines and food. If you bring your dog along, there are plenty of walks off Heath Road just 150 yards away.

About Jane Kilham

Simon and I really enjoy looking after our guests who visit Tresco for their holidays. Tea, coffee, sugar and milk are provided plus a home-baked cake (Victoria sponge, lemon drizzle, Bakewell tart) bottle of wine and orange juice so no need to go shopping as soon as you arrive!!

We look forward to welcoming new visitors to Tresco.

Why Jane Kilham chose King's Lynn

Dersingham is a very friendly village close to the Royal Sandringham Estate and Anmer Hall. There are two pubs which serve great food, beer and wine plus there are lots of fast-food outlets in village too. Plenty of places for walking the dog(s) - we allow 2 dogs (first is free and £20 for second). Great cycling too - we have a lockable store for bicycles. We also have a good garden space with seating and a barbeque is available. There are lots of places to visit nearby - nature reserves, beaches, stately homes and towns such as Burnham Market, Holt, Hunstanton and King's Lynn.

What makes this cottage unique

Tresco is an extremely roomy cottage with two bath/shower rooms; a snug if you fancy a quite read or to listen to music. Also a large cupboard full of board games, e.g. scrabble, chess, bogle, snakes and ladders, etc.

Guestbook comments from the owner

“We had a fantastic break at Tresco, the owner was lovely and helpful. The cake she left for us on arrival was delicious and she had left milk and orange juice in the fridge. There was no need to go out to the shop on arrival as everything you needed, coffee, tea, cake etc was all there ready. Lovely cottage and very close to Sandringham so great for walking the dogs. Would stay here again.”

“This place is simply perfect and we want to go back again and again if we can! The owners seem to have thought of everything that will make the stay super comfortable. It's located in a lovely part of Norfolk with lots to do for little ones as well as adults of all ages. Great dog walking on the heath and edge of the Sandringham estate just down the road from the cottage too!”

“Just wonderful!!!! Wow, what a beautiful cottage Tresco is! Homely and luxurious at the same time. We’ve loved our stay here. The garden has been so nice to be in – Callum is going to miss Mr and Mrs Blackbird. It’s the perfect place if you love woodland and beach walks. The people in Dersingham and surrounding areas are so lovely. Snettisham, Heacham, Holme and Old Hunstanton beaches – all are lovely + doggy friendly!!!!

Fabulous Cottage

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay in this fabulous cottage, home from home. Jane was very helpful showing us everything when we arrived and rang during our stay to see if we needed anything.

Look forward to booking in 2018.

Relaxing,refreshing and well located.

  • 5 of 5

We could not have asked for a better end of summer week away. The cottage was excellent in every way. Our host Jane provided the perfect welcome of introduction to the property along with home made cake and a bottle of chilled rose. The location is convenient to the north Norfolk coast and Sandringham park so our dogs had exercise and variety on the doorstep. Good facilities locally so no need to drive for provisions or eating out. To top it all the weather was very kind and the small amount of rain that did fall cleared very quickly, not hindering excursion plans.

A lovely place to stay

  • 5 of 5

We felt at home instantly. Lovely comfortable cottage, welcome wine and home made cake very much appreciated. We wanted for nothing in the cottage, everything we could need was provided. We had a heatwave for the whole week, thank goodness for long shady walks with the dogs on the Sandringham estate. Had a very chilled week walking, enjoying the garden, reading etc. Both pubs served good food, and the local supermarket provided all we needed,
