The Dog House

Light and spacious apartment facing south and west with superb views over the surrounding countryside. Zip and link beds, modern TV, Dvd, radio. Seating area with sofa and armchair, coffee table. Shower room with large walk in shower. Kitchen/diner with breakfast bar, microwave, toaster, kettle, washer/dryer. gas cooker and wide range of kitchen equipment.

About the property


The Farmhouse is set in the middle of a working farm, surrounded by a lovely garden. About 12miles south of Norwich and 15 miles from the coast. We have been here 25 years and until recently ran it as an award winning B&B. The rooms have been completely refurbished and decorated, kitchen diners have been added to the original en-suite bedrooms and comfortable sofas and modern TV's have made a cosy sitting area in the large room.The farm is farmed with great consideration to the wildlife and there are some fabulous walks. We won the "British Pig Farmer of the Year 2014" award and have been well renowned for our home produced sausages and bacon in our previous life as a B&B, these are available for guests to sample. Our outdoor pig herd, of which we are very proud,is high welfare, coming up to the strictest standards for RSPCA Freedom food approval. Trips round the pigs can often be arranged.

However the pigs are kept well away from the house. The house stands on a hill overlooking the Waveney valley, the 2 apartments face south and west, or east and south and are very light and airy. We have a lot of local knowledge and can offer guests walking books, maps, suggestions for days out and insider information about the best places to eat.

The house has full central heating (from a large multi-fuel boiler), modern double glazing and is warm and comfortable. Unlimited WiFi is available free of charge.

About Mrs Bobbie Watchorn

We farm at Earsham, with traditional arable and outdoor pigs.We are very conscious of the wildlife and work hard to make this a wildlife friendly farm. Simon won the British Pig farmer of the Year 2014. Our sausages are available for you to try from the freezer. I used to run a B&B here until recently. Now I want to concentrate on my sculpting

( mainly animals and people),and gardening.

All 3 of my children are grown up and live away. 2 are married with children. Time flies!

Why Mrs Bobbie Watchorn chose South Norfolk

We moved to the farm in 1989 with 3 small children. It had the most wonderful potential, a stunning house that sat on a hill shouting "Look at me!". However it was sadly neglected and we started to renovate it and make it into a lovely family home , where we could welcome guests too. Simon worked hard to turn the farm round and into a highly productive mixed farm, producing the finest outdoor reared pork . We have ensured that the wealth of hedges, ponds and trees provide masses of opportunity for wildlife to live alongside us.

We are close to Lowestoft, the area of the country with the lowest rainfall and highest sunshine records in the UK. The countryside surrounds us but Norwich and a bit of culture is only a short drive away.Guest comments- wow you can see the stars!

What makes this apartment unique

The farm is an ideal base for people who enjoy "getting away from it all" but do not want to be too remote. Peace and quiet are here in abundance, but Norwich and all its attractions are an easy drive. There are a wealth of places to visit, gardens, stately homes, Constable country, lovely timber framed villages, old towns like Diss, and lots and lots of local attractions and museums.

The house is in a fantastic setting with sweeping views down the Waveney valley towards the river.

We can supply guests with delicious homemade produce from the kitchen and from the farm and let them know where to go to sample more of the delights available in South Norfolk/North Suffolk.

Booking Notes:
Please note there is a minimum 3 night booking period. Deposits of 10% are taken in advance, the rest is due 1month before arrival. This can be paid by cheque, bank transfer or PayPal. Bookings and availability can be requested from the website. Discounts for stays of 7 nights or more.

Changeover Day:
Flexible start/ finish, except for very busy periods, e.g. Bank holidays. Min 3 night stay. Arrival is normally between 3 and 7pm, please advise if otherwise required.Departure is by 10am on the last day.

Notes on accommodation: Discounts available for stays of 7 or more nights Short breaks of 3 or more days accepted Outside: The house stands in approximately one acre of gardens. Outside there is ample parking for several cars in a big gravelled car park directly below the 2 apartments. Each apartment has its own secluded seating are with 2 chairs and a table. The gardens are large and well kept with lots of interesting plants. Guests are welcome to make use of the gardens, the sitting areas and lawns.If they feel so inclined they can also do a bit of weeding! As the house stands in the middle of a farm, there are lovely walks around the tracks straight from the front door. A map and talk round are included in both properties.
