About Averil Ballantyne

The Ballantyne family have farmed at Balkaithly since 1942 and look forward to welcoming guests to our mixed arable farm and showing them the many and varied attractions of the area.

This is a family farm and we are now the second generation to run it. It is in a tranquil setting but very conveniently located for nearby towns and facilities.

Great Golfing Accomodation

Stayed in this spacious accommodation with two other gents on a recent week's golf trip in St Andrews. Met our needs very well, clean, spacious, internet, place for our golf clubs & suitcases and large kitchen. Location is great for golfers at 5-10 minutes drive from Kingsbarns, Castle Course, Fairmont, St Andrews and Crail. Will be back next time we are in Scotland.

Wonderful homestay in Fife

A wonderfully kept holiday rental with a large bedroom, a spacious living room and a well equipped kitchen. Averil was a marvelous host--milk, wine and cookies were waiting for us.

Dunino is a lovely little hamlet in Fife and so well located to St Andrews and the East Neuk. High recommendations for this property.

Cosy, clean, warm, friendly and inviting

We wanted to visit the St Andrews area, but did not want a hotel room. This farm suite caught our eye so we decided to give it a try.

A great choice. From the minute of our late afternoon arrival we were comfortable. It was nice of Averil to have a liter of milk and a bottle of wine.

She showed us all the funcyions of the apartment when we arrived. Everything was functioning..very clean and well kept. The beds were comfortable. I would not hesitate to stay here again..and I hope to do so next time we visit the area.

It is about a 10 minute drive to St Andrews..so easily accessible. Hope to see you again!

Tranquility on the farm in the "Kingdom of Fife"

We enjoyed our stay in this spacious apartment in the lovely country setting between St Andrews and Anstruther in the "Kingdom of Fife." The bed was very comfortable, the kitchen appliances worked well, bathroom was a good size.with plent yof hot water. Owner Avril was just next door in case of any need (we didn't have any!).

In nearby St. Andrews, there are many interesting, privately owned shops; numerous cafes and restaurants; monthly farmers' markets; banks and supermarkets. Pittenweem (15 minutes away) has a wonderful collection of art galleries and an important art festival in August. Cambo House (15 minutes) has a snowdrop and tulip festival in the spring. Boat trips out to the Isle of May is a bird lovers' must. There is a well maintained coastal walk all the way round the coast here. Nearby National Trust properties include Kellie Castle and Hill of Tarvit.
