Large idyllic grade II listed Cornish cottage, featured in The Times and Cornwall Life magazine. Five bedrooms, three reception rooms, front and rear gardens, meadow. Located in a quiet hamlet, close to the spectacular Atlantic coastline, Port Isaac’s ancient fishing village, and Trebarwith Strand or Polzeath’s surfing beaches.

Two real fires, granite fireplace, Aga. Pub 15 min walk. Ideal for surfers, walkers, golfers, families.

Sympathetically restored to a high standard, this gorgeous 16th century hideaway provides the perfect base from which to explore the treasures of the north Atlantic coast, from Rock and Polzeath, to Port Isaac, Trebarwith Strand and beyond. Set back from a quiet lane, the house is hidden from the hamlet’s handful of cottages behind the delightful south-facing walled cottage garden, while a lovely rear lawn and a neighbouring secluded meadow offer plenty of room for kids to roam free while adults relax.

Inside the house are original slate floors and sea grass carpets, a cast-iron claw foot bath, solid French oak dining tables, thick firm mattresses with white 100% cotton bedlinen, vintage curtains and fabrics. The ancient thick stone walls come with sloping floorboards, oak beams, exposed stone walls, and window seats. Unwind by a wood burning stove in the large living room, or another set in a granite fireplace in the dining room. The snug has a cloam oven set into another inglenook. The double height kitchen has an Aga plus electric built-in oven, large fridge/freezer and two dishwashers; fully equipped.

The house is warm in winter as well as summer. Plenty of book, games and wifi. Parking for three cars.

A 15 minute walk takes you to the village of St Teath, with its fine local ales and good food, as well as a shop, church and old clock tower.

The house is ideally located for visits to Port Isaac, Padstow, or King Arthur’s Tintagel Castle; walks along the coast paths or on the wilds of Bodmin moor; and family excursions further afield to The Blue Reef Aquarium or Eden Project.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Lovely guests and we'd happily have them back to stay at Aaron's Cottage. Very patient and understanding (particularly with toddlers in tow) considering we had teething problems with our brand new power shower and bathroom! Huge thanks!

The first impression of this beautiful cottage was what a charming place to stay.

  • 3 of 5

The front garden was a bit overgrown, but you can see past this at what is a beautiful characterful cottage, nestling in the lovely Cornish countryside. The cottage inside was quite a labyrinth of nooks and crannies, the kids were quite exited when exploring each room, of which there were plenty. We were a little disappointed with the cleanliness in parts but on the whole this didn't spoil our stay. Unfortunately we had a problem with the pump which supplied water to the shower bath and basin in the downstairs bathroom, which took a while to resolve leaving us without this facility for 3 days of our stay, but the efforts of Owners Direct to try and resolve this for us quickly were appreciated. The cottage itself is quite central to lots of lovely beaches/coves and ports of which we managed to visit quite a few, and the village of St Teath is only 5 minutes away by car, where there is a local shop and lovely pub. The owners have thought of everything for your stay, including lots of crockery/pans/cutlery etc even 2 dishwashers fridge/freezer and washer and dryer.

The property is set in a beautiful, rustic cottage garden and has all the charm of traditional Cornish buildings, whilst being refurbished to a high yet cosy spec inside. The owners were helpful and attentive throughout. We would highly recommend this place.
