A gorgeous, bright and cosy cottage, with everything on hand that we could have needed.

Beautiful, compact and bijoux, lovely quiet location.

A lovely place to stay, decorated wonderfully with lots of quirky little bits and pieces.

Doherty. Property was perfect for a get away

  • 5 of 5

We spent 3 nights in this cottage and enjoyed every moment. We were blessed with reasonable weather but the owners made us really welcome. The cottage was clean and well stocked with the necessities. The wood burner was a treat! There are many walks around this area - many from the cottage itself. Easy access to Chatsworth House and matlock.

Perfect location for just pottering - or more strenuous walks.

Very comfortable cottage - ideal for 2.

Go - and enjoy yourselves.

Fantastic little place to stay

  • 5 of 5

The cow shed is a great place to stay if you want something a little different.

It is clean and tidy and well presented. There is a road a few yards outside but you only get a few cars passing so its very quiet.

A log burner is the main heating which warms the place very quickly.

The kitchen has all the mod cons you would need, the shower room/toilet is not big but then it dosen't need to be. The rain shower was great.

The owners are helpful and friendly and have lots of info on the local area, where to eat/visit etc.

We hope to return soon.

Wonderful relaxing week

  • 5 of 5

Just spent a lovely week at this beautiful cottage. Set in a lane with few cars and wonderful scenery. As a regular stayer in cottages I have to say the facilities at The Cow Shed were second to none. Everything you could want in a holiday cottage. Anna the owner provided a lovely hamper of food and wine on our arrival and was accommodating and also gave us details of local places to visit and eat. The cottage was clean throughout and the wood burning stove was cosy. We didn't know when we booked but we were able to watch the Tour of Britain. Really felt part of the friendly town. Would definitely reccommend the cottage.

Delightful cottage set in beautful countryside

  • 5 of 5

The Cow Shed in Riber is a hidden gem. Set in the beautiful Peak District countryside, the cottage offers everything you could want for a thoroughly enjoyable stay & more! The facilities are second to none & the décor has a warm welcoming charm. Anna, the owner, has provided information on local walks, attractions etc. & places to eat & drink which we found very useful. The cottage is very clean & extremely comfortable with the added bonus of the wood burning stove which enhances the cosy homely feel. All the facilities in the Cow Shed are of high quality & this reflects in the overall feel of the place. The owners were extremely helpful & keen to share their knowledge of the local area. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Cow Shed & can not recommend it highly enough!!

Expectations surpassed

  • 5 of 5

The Cowshed is a tastefully well appointed cottage located in a beautiful part of the Derbyshire countryside. A warm welcome (literally) awaited us upon arrival. The cottage has all the modern conveniences one would expect but its charm is maintained by means of the various, well placed decorative pieces and the original features of the cottage. You must experience a late-night waterfall shower under the skylight or an early morning coffee sat comfortably outside enjoying nature. Anna, Cowshed owner, is a very attentive without being intrusive hostess who went beyond her duty to ensure our needs were met. The local pub is a mile away and for the avid ramblers, there are lots of opportunity to enjoy a walk or even a run if you fancy it. I can't fault a minute of my stay and would highly recommend The Cowshed. P.s had a sneaky peak of the new cottage being refurbished and it too will not disappoint.

Tranquil retreat

  • 5 of 5

Just come back from a lovely weekend break at the Cowshed, near Riber. The accommodation is located on a quite country lane but is still within easy reach of Matlock (about a 45 minute walk across the Derbyshire countrside). The building has recently been converted from an old cowshed and has been tastefully decorated and furnished throughout. The log-burner in the corner of the lounge created a cosy welcome. This was an ideal "get-away-from-it-all" break. Didn't use the car during our stay, preferring to walk across the fields and down (and up) the quiet country lanes to wherever we needed to go. Saw plenty of cyclists, but remember this is Derbyshire so if you bring a bike be prepared for the hills. Loved our break, and will definitely stay there again.
