Family and pet-friendly, and newly-renovated. All mod cons, perfect for groups. - The Old Tractor Shed

Overview

Property

Updated: 02-Dec-2016
A group of three modernised limestone cottages surrounding a central courtyard.

The Victorian Gardens at Cressbrook Hall is a group of three cottages surrounding a central courtyard just beside Cressbrook's original Victorian walled garden - where we still grow flowers and vegetables for the Hall. Available singly, or as a group, The Old Tractor Shed, Top Spot and High Spy offer a perfect balance of traditional feel and modern features such as ceramic hobs, microwaves, dishwashers, and flat panel TVs - perfect for large family gatherings or reunions at any time of the year. Top Spot and High Spy share a large terrace with magnificent views along the Wye Valley, and all the cottages are perfectly located for a wonderful Peak District holiday.

Details for holiday cottage The Old Tractor Shed, 3 Bedrooms, Sleeps 6, 3 Bathrooms

The Old Tractor Shed is the result of our latest renovation project, turning a characterful limestone building at the highest point of the estate into a highly-desirable single-storey cottage with under floor heating, and power provided by a state of the art solar panel array. The three double bedrooms are furnished with contemporary flair and feature superb, modern ensuite shower rooms, fully-tiled and with beautiful modern fixtures - the perfect blend of period charm and contemporary convenience. The open plan living space features leather sofas, dining furniture for 6, and a modern kitchen with all the contemporary conveniences you would expect.

About the Owner

Bobby Hull-Bailey and her husband bought Cressbrook Hall in the late 1970s and began a programme of restoration of the Hall, gardens and estate buildings which has now resulted in this truly unique place in which to enjoy a Peak District holiday. The family still live at the Hall, and remain intimately involved with the life of the estate and all its guests.

Lovely place

  • 4 of 5

Stayed here in October 2016 with family (children ages 9,7,3). Great place, on edge of grounds of main hall, a bit unusual but better for it. Fantastic valley/dale straight in front of you (above other close by properties). Dark at night, can hear owls calling. Lots of interesting places nearby. View from Monsal Head one of the best. Hired bikes to cycle Monsal trail which is a must (how often do you cycle over a great viaduct?) Fantastic gorge which the river below property runs through. Property well equipped (but no bath). Highly recommend.

Location

From the Owner

Any visitor to Cressbrook Hall will know immediately why the Hull-Bailey family chose to make their home here. The house and estate occupies one of the most privileged locations in one of the most beautiful regions of the UK. The house was originally built by a wealthy mill owner who has likewise fallen in love with the spectacular, almost Alpine, views down the Wye valley.
