House in Newport, Pembrokeshire, Wales - 5 Minutes Walk To The Beach

The house was built in 1971 and has been updated recently keeping the seventies theme with uber cool Italian/ Danish 1970's light fittings and furniture. The kitchen has all mod cons and a Nespresso coffee machine. There is a TV, and washing machine and dryer.

We had a fantastic stay, and the place has a very special atmosphere. Decor-wise, I loved the mixture of original 70s fittings with some uber cool contemporary touches! The place was also very clean and crisply decorated, the bed linen was pristine and high quality. Newport itself is a pleasant stroll away, and is also a bit of a find if you don't know it. Julia was wonderfully friendly and helpful. Property was exactly as it 'said on the tin' - very 1970's in style but modern facilities where it mattered (e.g. oven, hob, fridge, freezer, etc). View from the balcony is even better than the photos suggest. Stephen - Aug 14

Parrog and Bettws beaches are just five minutes walk down the hill. When the tide is out you can walk over the shallow river to the main sandy Newport Beach which you see from the house. With the tide in, you can drive there in 10 minutes. The Parrog has a boat club and coffee shop. The area is famous for its walking and cycling. The Pembrokeshire Coastal Path passes a few minutes walk away and the Gwaun Valley and Presseli Mountains behind the house offer similarly stunning walks and rides.


Fishguard Harbour train station has trains from London Paddington twice a day and is a 15 minute drive away. Trains also go to Carmarthen and Haverfordwest, both are approx 45 mins from Newport. A taxi from Fishguard costs approx £20 and by car Newport is approx 4 hours 15 mins from London straight down the M4

Newport village and beaches are all within walking distance of the house and, if needed, a car can be hired at Hertz in Fishguard

Notes on accommodation: The house is a spacious "upside down" house with the sitting room and kitchen and one bedroom upstairs to make the most of the fabulous views and the other three bedrooms downstairs. It is set alone in a large garden with a drive way into it. Outside: There is a terrace with seating in the front of the house and a back balcony with seating at the back. The house is surrounded by a large garden and is a five min walk to the beach. Utility Room: Washing machine, dryer and freezer. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All beds use Egyptian cotton bed linen. All pillows and duvets supplied, and towels but not beach towels. House cleaned after every let but extra cleaning can be arranged at an additional charge.

Stunning location in Newport

Had a wonderful time. We loved the view from the balcony looking out over the bay. One of our party was particularly keen on bird-watching and loved sitting there with his binoculars looking at the birds in the estuary. The coffee machine was fab, kitchen well supplied, bedrooms very comfortable. Nice safe garden for the kids to play in. They loved it. Hostess very helpful. I would definitely go again

Great house perfect location

The house is perfectly located, with stunning views over Newport and Carningli hill to the rear. We loved Newport and the surrounding area: plenty of good beaches and nice walks. The kids loved the rockpools in the nearby beach, a pleasant 5 min walk down a lane. There are balconies front and back which are great for relaxing. We liked the wildlife in the hedgerows around the garden; plenty of rabbits and birdlife. The 'upside down' design and large windows allow plenty of light in the living areas. The property is stylish and clean with nice beds and linen. The kitchen has all the mod cons you need. The owners are a pleasure to deal with. Would definitely recommend Newport and this property.
