A fantastic property in a stunning location

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Forge House over May half term, the property was everything we hoped for and more. The house is great, really well equipped and spotlessly clean. Whilst spacious it maintains a cosy feel and we imagined it would also be great for a winter break. The setting overlooking the water garden is special. The welcome gifts are a lovely touch. Lower Mill estate is stunning, a real gem, lots to do (or not as the mood takes) The outdoor swimming pool is heated so even though the weather wasn't kind all week we were still able to enjoy a swim. There are some great walks for all abilities along with smashing cycle paths. Our 2 boys loved trying out waterskiing close by and had a great time taking our kayak out. We followed advice and visited The Bakers Arms and the Old Spotted Cow, both of which lived up to the good reviews. We were also pleasantly surprised how good the food was at the brasserie where we did the waterskiing, well worth a visit. All in all a great house in a great location that we would happily recommend.

Fantastic cottage in a stunning location

  • 5 of 5

A lovely cottage, beautifully decorated and maintained and a good size for a family of four. The ongoing and helpful communication with the owners Alison and Richard made the arrival at Forge House seamless and stress free. Stunning location with lots of activities in and around the estate. Great suggestions of where to eat out. Very reasonable price for our week and to stay in such a wonderful home.

Beautiful London Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I spent 4 nights at the Forge House and had a wonderful time! Even upon our initial booking, Allison and Richard were incredibly communicative and helpful in brainstorming local activities and excursions best suited for our family (each of which was spot on!). They also made sure our arrival was as seamless as possible without any difficulties finding or entering the estate. The house itself is very well kept with modern appliances and lots of space. The cottage is situated in a beautiful estate with opportunities for tennis, bike riding, canoe rentals, and nature hikes with minimal effort! Overall, the trip was an absolute success and we are so grateful to the Jeffreys for all their lovely accomodations.

Gorgeous, warm and cosy home, beautifully decorated and well resourced for family holiday.

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely time swimming in the heated outdoor pool, enjoying the sauna, walking the dog and playing tennis. Perfect for our family ranging in age from from 12 to 72! A lovely pub a short 15 minute walk away perfect for dinner out and a restaurant/ bar on site too. Great shop which sells lovely coffee. All in all I'd highly recommend this property and we can't wait to return. Owners made booking really easy and straightforward and answered any questions quickly and clearly.

A lovely short break

  • 5 of 5

Firstly, excellent communication from the owners. Forge house is in a lovely location on the Lower Mill Estate, tucked away from the busier centre. The house was just as described, it is well presented and has everything you need. We were lucky with the weather and it was lovely to be able to sit out with a good book! Our two teenagers appreciated not having to fight over the bathroom - there are three here! Whilst I would definitely recommend Forge House, I found a couple of aspects of the estate itself a bit odd - on having a wander and discovering the spa we were told we couldn't use this because Mill village properties (the section of the estate we were staying on) don't have spa passes - we didn't want to use their pool, we just wanted to pay for a couple of spa treatments, so strange for them to turn away customers! The other slightly strange thing is the size of the restaurant - I would have thought it's far too small for the number of properties on the estate. We unfortunately weren't organised enough to book a couple of days in advance so didn't get to try it out although it looked very nice. Having said all that, this is in no way a criticism of our stay at Forge House (and indeed the description of the property does not mention the availability of a spa) and having looked around the rest of the estate it would still be my preferred place to stay. Out and about, we had a good afternoon at the Cotswold Wildlife Park, Go By Cycle were really good (10 mins walk away), the Corinium Museum in Cirencester was interesting and good value (make you sure you try Jacks Coffee Shop next door - fab cakes!) and we had a good meal at The Bakers Arms at Somerford Keynes. All in all Forge House is highly recommended - a big thank you to the owners!

Great house, great setting, great location

  • 5 of 5

My sister and I rented Forge House in order to treat our four kids to an Easter break. Rarely does a holiday rent exceed expectations but Forge House really did. It was decorated beautifully, spacious, clean and fully stocked with everything you could need. The owners provided lots of helpful information about the house and the area which I referred to often. The house was also located in a really impressive and gated nature reserve which is very special indeed. The kids had a blast and so did we. I would definitely return and would recommend Forge House unreservedly.
