3 Bedroom Cottage in Perranuthnoe, Cornwall, England - peaceful and unspoilt location, 10 minute walk to a beautiful safe beach and the nearby village

The Old Carthouse is perfectly positioned to enjoy all that South Cornwall has to offer. You can relax on the rear terrace and gaze at a beautiful blue Cornish sea, or pack up your surfboards, bucket and spade and walk to the local beach in 10 minutes. The house is ideal for all ages and abilities as it is on a single level with an open plan and airy feel. The house is fully equipped as it is our family home away from home and we do comfortable very well. We include all towels and linen, plus there is free Wi-Fi for those that can't resist the lure of getting online. The town of Penzance is just under 3 miles away and contains everything you could possibly need. However, the house is served by a well stocked farm shop (15 min walk) and there are two cafes and a classic English pub in the village, all of which have a superb range of high quality meals and snacks. If you arrive without a car then there is a good local taxi service and a bus stop near the house where you can catch the No.2 that takes you on a spectacular ride to Penzance and beyond. For those that want to travel slightly further, we are only 8 miles from St.Ives, with its host of restaurants, pubs, beautiful beaches and the very excellent Tate Gallery.

Beautiful accommodation near lovely beach

We had a fabulous holiday at the Old Carthouse! The property had every comfort we needed. The furnishings were really tasteful and well chosen. Household welcome pack was great. And, the location was fantastic, close to the lovely village of Perranuthnoe with its excellent pub, quiet beach and friendly beach cafe.

From the Owner

You only need take one look at this property and the location to absolutely fall in love it. It really offers the best of both worlds, with plenty to do within a few miles of the house and one of the most beautiful beaches in Cornwall, it is truly a home for any time of the year. With Penzance just three miles away, you can easily obtain whatever you need from the huge range of cafes, restaurants and shops. Closer to the house and within a 15 minute walk is an excellent and friendly farm shop that sells a wide range of food, with a very good stock of organic and gluten free options. Then there is the village pub in Perranuthnoe, easily reached from the house on foot and serving some of the best dishes and Cornish beers that you'll ever taste.

The beach at Perranuthnoe is beautiful and easily accessible for all. It is a 15 minute walk from the house down one of the many footpaths, or 10 minutes to drive. There is a small car park with toilets near the beach, currently the charge is £4 per day during peak season.

This popular local beach that is used by the community all year round for surfing and fishing. The beach is all sand, it is flat and very safe for families of all ages. There is also a great beach cafe serving everything you could want.


There are various travel options for getting to the house and we would recommend having a car to get around.

The train station in Penzance is 3 miles away with frequent services to London. The nearest airport is Newquay which is roughly 1.5 hours drive. Rental cars are available at the airport although you must book in advance. There are also rental locations in Penzance.

From the Owner

The house is located at the end of a lane which is a no through road. We have neighbours, but only a few so you can enjoy an extremely quiet and relaxed location without feeling that you are totaly removed from the world. There are numerous paths to walk along that run by the property and you can walk to the village and beach within 15 minutes. The beach at Perranuthnoe is beautiful and unspoilt. It really is a local hangout that doesn't get taken over by hoards of people. The locals of all ages come to this spot two or three times a day, every day to surf and swim, as the beach is very safe, sandy and easily accessible. Finally, we must mention the sunset. To sit on the terrace in our garden and watch the sun disappear behind St. Michaels Mount each day is an endless joy.

  • Notes on accommodation: The property has underfloor heating throughout which will be preset prior to your arrival. There are no radiators other than two electric heated towel rails in the bathrooms. Outside: The rear terrace extends across the width of the house and it provides the perfect resting place to sit and watch the sun set. There is a table with 2 benches, plus two deck chair/recliners. In the small storage shed to the side of the house you will find a washing line umbrella, plus a small amount of dry wood for the wood burning stove in the lounge. There is also a barbecue and an outside tap with hose for washing wellies and wetsuits. The garden at the rear has a small lawn area and our gardener will appear from time to time to carry out a small amount of maintenance. Utility Room: Washing machine, tumble dryer and a large sink for cleaning wellies. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All linen and towels are provided and included (except beach towels). The house is fully cleaned prior to arrival and there is no cleaning service during a one week stay. For a two week stay the house will be serviced at the end of the first week.
