Live and work in London with my wife and 3 beautiful girls, we moved lock, stock and barrel to Barbados 15 years ago and lived there for 10 years, our home there is one the properties I redeveloped whilst I was there and am now offering to you. We shared some great times there and it was with reluctance we moved home.
We try to visit the island as much as possible, there is no better second home! After our trip there in February we decided to start renting it out, we came to the conclusion that it is criminal to leave a house empty over there and not share what we love about the island so much, hopefully we are making it a little more accessible for people to visit.
We hope you like our home and would love for you to stay there!
The location is ideal! A car is advisable as it is easy to park at the bottom of the hill and walk over to the beach... saves on the hot walk up to the house! Though the pool is perfect to cool off!
The house is only a minute drive to Hometown where you will find everything you need but it's a great base to explore the island, the highway is also about a 5 minute drive away and from there you can get anywhere.
Royal Westmoreland golf course is just a few minutes up the hill and that is a real treat if you are into golf, Sugar Hill with it's tennis courts is also a few minutes away but can be difficult to get on there though there are courts in Holetown. Then of course you have all the water sports that will keep the whole family entertained.
Having visited the area before we decided to book again however only three weeks before our departure, our normal accomadation was double booked we then had to find some accomadation very last minute as we are only 2 we would not look for somewhere quite as large but due to a cancellation we were able to book Plantation cottage. The accomadation is in a great natural spot monkeys in the trees and lots of greenery yet only a 2 minute drive to the beaches.Whilst you could manage maybe without a car I would recommend this gives the flexibility. The accomadation easily could handle 6 adults everything that is needed for a lovely holiday .We ate out every other night with all restaurants within a 5 minute drive all recommended including SeaCat,lonestar, drift, and two within lime grove ,Friday nights include entertainment.Stacey the manager is always at hand and Mavis the cleaner a real star.Although we know the area a little directions to the property were spot on .The accomadation is as the photos all excellent,we were blessed with our misfortune and would not hesitate to book again many thanks everyone.
2Plantation Cottage has everything you need and is a great base for your trip to Barbados.
The villa is very attractively arranged and clean. The outdoor space was good, we saw monkeys in the ttrees overhead a few times. The pool is a little tired (and small, but we knew that.) Stacey kept in touch and even brought us a new coffee filter machine when we asked about it - thank you! The property feels very private although the road can be noisy when you are sat out but you can't hear anything inside the villa. Beds were comfortable, we slept well. You do need to have a car to get to town or the beach. Beach towels were provided which was very helpful. Overall a very relaxing experience
We stayed at the house in July 2016, and thoroughly enjoyed it! The house is well appointed and equipped, and we marveled at how a building with a relatively small footprint can feel so spacious inside. The bedrooms are pretty, the mattresses comfortable, and the silent air conditioning units worked well. Everything was very clean, and the cleaning lady came 2x to keep it that way. We really enjoyed the private deck, and the plunge pool was perfect for us to cool down after a trip across the beautiful island of Barbados. The house manager Alex was a pleasure to work with, she even waited up for us when we arrived late at night to give us a quick run through of the house, and organized transportation to and from the airport. The one thing we missed was a small dining table on the porch, to have meals outside. Other than that it was perfect.
We highly recommend Santi Beach Bar, down the hill, for drinks, meals, and the best beach chairs.
We stayed here for seven nights after having spent four nights at another rental in Ocean City. This property is very well decorated yet comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed including bringing in a new frying pan and a coffee bean grinder at our request. The two coolers were great to take to the beach.
The pool is VERY small; hot tub size but no jets ;) so don't expect anything more than a quick cool off.
We had a rental car which is necessary; walking on most streets around Barbados is risky due to narrow roads and no sidewalks except on main streets. We enjoyed the monkeys in the large tree at the start of the street.
You can access Holetown shops in five minutes and we used this property as a base to explore the north island as well as taking surfing lessons south of Bridgetown. Would stay here agian.
We've just returned from a week at this lovely villa, super clean and split level which was perfect for a family of 4 (parents/grandparents) with a baby. Glenis who manages the property was extremely helpful and prompt when we needed her and Mavis the cleaner did a magical job half way through the week.
My only comment would be this property really does require a car, we attempted walking a few times up and down the hill but gave in and hired one in the end. There is also a short cut down to our favourite restaurant Lone Star...a must!
Coast/Beach:
10 minute walk down the hill to the beach though a car is recommended for getting around
Travel:
Nearest airport is Grantley Adams, which is about a 40 minute drive. A car isn't necessary but advised, walking in the sun can be quite tiring and the walk up the hill from the beach will probably take a little over 15 minutes.
Distances:
Hometown is the only place you'll need! about a 5 minute drive and it has everything from restaurants to cafes, bars, nightlife, supermarket and shops, you'll find the exclusive Lime Grove there with Gucci and other high end retail outlets. There is also a cinema there!
