Cottage in Normandy National Park - Sleeps 4

Updated: 29-Sep-2016
Cottage in Normandy, France. Close to D Day Beaches & Saint Lo

In the field next to our small farm we have a charming and rustic French cottage which sleeps 4 people. Set in 1 acre of land, the cottage offers complete privacy with the peace and quiet of the countryside, whilst still close enough to the D Day Beaches, Saint-Lo and Mont Saint Michel.

We have a small working farm with goats, free range chickens, geese, turkeys, rabbits and 2 very friendly Chocolate Labradors.

Half way between two charming villages in Lower-Normandy, we are 5 minutes from an old Norman Chateau where guests can visit the nesting storks. Surrounded by beautiful countryside with plenty of room for the children to run around you can be sure of a warm welcome and a relaxed stay.

The farm is 30 minutes away from D Day beaches and the Bayeux tapestry and 15 minutes to the bars, restaurants and nightlife of Saint-Lo..

Excellente adresse

  • 5 of 5

Great fortnight in idyllic tranquil setting

  • 5 of 5

I stayed in the gite for 2 weeks with my 2 teenage children and had a great time. It's set in about an acre of land so plenty of room to play football and explore and you really feel in the heart of the countryside but it's very private. It's a short walk to the ruined chateau where storks nest, which is an amazing sight. We went for lots of walks and took our bikes and cycled along the river to Pont Herbert. We also also visited Bayeaux, the lovely D Day beaches, the American cemetery, Mont St Michel and Granville. There was a lovely bakery in St Jean de Daye where we got fresh croissants and bread which we often ate all fresco. The gite was excellent value for money with matching linen provided as well as a tv with a dvd, we also had lots of bbqs. We'll definitely be back as there's still so much we want to see. We got the ferry to Cherbourg and it was only a 45 minute drive to the gite from there.

From the Owner

We fell in love with Normandy for many reasons: stunning countryside; the history of our 16th century house; incredibly friendly people; the local Norman castles; the opportunity to take care of a small piece of a Protected Natural Park with amazing wildlife; beautiful beaches; all steeped in history. We built our guesthouse but plan to explore some alternative building methods in the future (solar, straw, tyres & bottles). There are so many things to do: take in the history of WW2 and the incredibly moving memorials, nature rambles, tractor rides, collect your own eggs from the free range chickens, play football with the dogs, visit the Chateau with the Storks; Bayeux / Mont St Michel; or visit Saint-Lo for the restaurants and bars.

From the Owner

The farm is easy to find but remote enough for the beauty and charm of the French countryside, based in a protected national park. Plenty of space for everyone to enjoy the peace and tranquility with plenty of room for children to run around and play.
