About sandra White

Russell and I run an Eco company locally, we have lived in the area most of our lives and love this location.

sandra White purchased this cottage in 2013

Why sandra White chose Holywell

Two years ago we saw Lilly Cottage as a derelict, unloved property, we fell in love with its character and saw the potential of this to become our weekend retreat!

As a family we have worked hard on this property to realise our dream. Although we still use Lilly Cottage we believe that others can enjoy it and the surrounding area.

What makes this cottage unique

This small but perfectly formed cottage has quaint exposed beams and inglenook fireplace with a log burning stove, which we have married together with modern technology. The old miners cottage now benefits from all the mod cons. Keep a look out for the free roaming sheep who like to take a wander down the road!

Beautiful cottage, a home from home

  • 5 of 5

We have had the most wonderful week at this beautiful cottage in Brynford. From the minute we arrived we felt immediately at home. The owners are very responsive to messages and they even left us some bread, butter, jam and milk which we thought was a lovely touch. The cottage is warm and cosy and we cooked a few meals. The kitchen is well equipped, washing machine very useful for us as we were moving on to another destination as we do not live in the UK. The property was extremely clean. I did a couple of runs /walks and was ok to jump onto the bank when car approached. Too much of a gorgeous area not to explore! We went to Chester a lot (15 mins in the car) and portmeirion in Wales. The drive through Snowdonia was amazing!

Thank you Sandra for giving us a home away from home. Tash and Steve from Abu Dhabi

Great little cottage, had everything we needed

  • 4 of 5

Was great little place to stay and use as a base to get around. Was greeted with the heating being out on for us as we arrived and with fresh bread, butter, jam and milk.

Was great for my little family of 4 as we needed somewhere to stay to visit Family in the Wirral, would happily stay there again and hope to arrange another stay in the future

Lovely property for a short stay.

  • 4 of 5

Had a great 4 nights at this property. Stayed with my Husband and our 2 year old. A little let down by the lack of garden and the stairs where a little scary, wished we'd asked if there was a stair gate. The second bedroom was very cold even on a warm weekend. The area is lovely and ideal for exploring Chester and North Wales coast line. I'd recommend more for couples than young families. All in all a cosy little house.

Everything perfect

  • 5 of 5

Perfect location for touring North Wales. Cottage met all our expectations and we were appreciative of there even being a high chair for youngest. Cottage furnished to a high degree. Can't fault a thing.

Nice area, disappointing stay!

  • 2 of 5

Cute cottage and a good location but not child friendly due to the stairs. The beams were also low and had no warning sign which resulted in a few head bumps. There is a garden but it was not maintained and had no outdoor seating, also a huge dog next door which did nothing but bark, shame as the weather was lovely while we were there but we could not use the garden. Top hob on the oven did not work, there was a plug in the main bedroom that had no covering and had wires exposed (extremely dangerous). Could do with some attention to certain things and it would be a lovely little cottage as the area surrounding area is great and we still had a nice break away.

Owner's Response: Sarah thank you for your review, I'm very disappointed that your stay didn't meet your expectations. I do wish you had contacted me whilst you were at the cottage so I could have helped you with some of your issues. As far as the stairs and beam are concerned its a small welsh cottage with all the character that this brings, there is only on beam as you come down the stairs that if you are tall you can bump your head on but we have never considered putting a warning sign on as its a home not a public building. The cottage doesn't have a garden (and is not advertised with one) as its a shared garden between the row of cottages. Although you can go into the garden if you want. I will be addressing the outdoor seating and buy a bench for the front garden. I have spoken to the owner of the dog this morning and he assures me the dog is not left to bark all the time. I am at the cottage two of three times a week for a couple of hours and have only ever heard the dog once. The hob on the oven works perfectly perhaps you didn't read the step by step instructions in the cottage manual which is always in the kitchen. The plug in the main bedroom had been smashed by a recent guest and I regret I had not noticed, it has been removed.

A great getaway

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time, the house was exactly as described and we were very pleased with how clean and well presented it was. the folder with instructions for all aspects of the property was detailed, clear and concise with the added bonus of a large assortment of pamphlets to the local attractions. The locals were also very pleasant and the few times we ate at the local pub/restaurant we were greeted well and served good food. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to get away for a pleasant stay, in a welcoming part of the country.
