Accommodation for all seasons, the beautiful Ancienne Mairie (Old Mayors house) and converted barn are situated in a lovely elevated village with an 11th Century Norman church. This small village is nestled in the picturesque rolling countryside of the the Pergord Limousin Naturel Parc, less than 5 minutes drive from bakers, grocers, butchers, chemist, bar, restaurants and lakeside sandy beaches and within striking distance of world famous landmarks and attractions such as spectacular Rocamadour, Paderac, the world class vineyards of Bergerac and Bordeaux and 2 hours drive from the ski slopes of Le Mont-Dore in the 'Massif du Sancy'.

The Ancienne Mairie (sleeps 10) and Converted Barn (sleeps 4) can be rented separately or as one unit offering exclusivity and / or more sleeping capacity (sleeping up to 14 in total). Located 10-15 minutes from towns offering a diverse range of interest. Chalus, an historic town where King Richard (the lion heart) was mortally wounded. St Yreix La Perche, an old market town with it's weekly day and evening markets and origin for the famous Limoges porcelain, also Jumilhac Le Grand with it's stunning Chateaux. Although steeped in history, they offer a range of other facilities such as Banks, supermarkets, bars and restaurants. For the more young at heart or years, nearby villages provide lakes with sandy beaches and an array of outdoor leisure activities, including mini golf, Acro Bois, paintball, swimming and Velo Rail (cycling on the old railway track). The lanes and Natural Park are ideal for rambling, walking and cycling right from the doorstep. If you are willing to travel a little further, the international war memorial town of Oradour-Sur-Glane is about 35 minutes drive. The town has been preserved as a very moving memorial to the villagers massacred by the Nazi’s and has remained unchanged since June 10th 1944. Just 40 minutes drive is the historic and beautiful town of Brantome, known as the little Venice of the Dordogne. This provides a great day out, whether you just want to dine by the river in one of the many excellent restaurants, or take a leisurely 2 to 3 man canoe down the river into Brantome. The more major cities of Limoges and Perigeaux can be reached in about 40 and 60 minutes respectively.

If your interests include fine wine, then Bergerac and Bourdeaux and their world class vineyards as well as other attractions are about 1.5 – 2 hours drive. The famous Dordogne valley containing a stunning list of ‘must see’ sites is about 1.5 hours drive where you can visit (to name just a few), the stunning Pilgrimage site of Rocamadour, the beautiful valley of the 5 chateaux, the stunning underground canals of Padirac and the ancient towns of Sarlat and Domme overlooking the magnificent Dordogne river.

Heaven on earth

We arrived to see the home is just as advertised, or maybe I should say better than. Bedding and towels for bathrooms and pool very good quality.

The service offered by Jane from the initial contact has been fantastic, she ensured that everything was in place for our holiday - no stress on our part.

Then both her and Steve greated us and showed us their home and how to work things giving other advice regards the area, where to eat, shop, visit etc although they also have a lot of leaflets for us to look at later.

Being there during the football was initially thought to be an issue for my husband, no problem here, TV set up and Internet available.

All I can say is fantastic every member of the family from 5 months to 76 years had a fantastic holiday be it in the pool or with beer watching football.

Superb!

We had a wonderful stay at the Old Mairie. We were 2 families (4 adults, 6 kids & teens) and spent a week there. Jane & Steve have been so helpful in assisting us in finding the right places to visit, get goat cheese at the farm, do horseback riding, etc. They really made a difference during these holidays. The Old Mairie is a 5 star vacation home: from bed clothes to the wonderful kitchen plus the relaxing garden with the swimming pool, the offering is definitely of high quality. We highly recommend if you are looking for a relaxing place with various activities to please the entire family.

Perfect !

The house was perfect. We booked last minute whilst traveling in the area and Jane couldn't have been more helpful! The house was so well appointed and we really felt at home straight away. The area is so peaceful and the autumn colours were absolutely incredible! We even collected chestnuts from the garden and in the woods down the lane and used them in our cooking twice! The children had plenty of room inside and out to run around and it was a great base from which to explore the region. We immediately felt that it would be an amazing place to rent with extended family or with other friends for a spring or summer holiday or indeed even an autumn half term break! We will certainly be recommending it to plenty of people and hope to return ourselves in the future. A huge thanks to Jane and Steve for their genuine welcome and attention to detail. Calme, confort et espace

Nous avons passé un week-end de Pentecôte entre amis très agréable dans cette grande demeure. La maison est fonctionnelle, spacieuse, confortable et magnifiquement restaurée, avec beaucoup de goût. Nous avons apprécié le gentil accueil de nos hôtes, et leur disponibilité. L 'environnement est calme, les sentiers de randonnée tout proches. Le retour en ville est difficile!

Both the Ancienne Mairie and Converted Barn ooze character, history and charm and are both appointed to a very high standard. They provide spacious accommodation for all seasons.

There are many lakes nearby (nearest within 5 minutes drive) providing sandy beaches and bathing facilities. all have lifeguards and during the summer, there are often many other activities / facilities on offer

Travel:

Limoges airport is 35 minutes drive

Bergerac airport is 1.5 hours drive

Brive airport is 1 hour drive

We are approximately 7 hours drive from the port of Calais

Distances:

5 minutes drive from nearest villages providing bakery, grocer, bar, chemist, butchers.

10 - 15 minutes drive to St Yreiex La Perche and Chalus providing large supermarkets, banking and many restaurants for all budgets and tastes.
