Luxury contemporary traditional Cornish Cottage with sea views and sunny terrace

Overview

Property

Updated: 07-Dec-2016
Peaceful, romantic 2 bed cottage with terrace in centre of Mousehole

An historic fisherman’s cottage, No5 Cherry Garden Street has been revamped into a contemporary romantic hideaway for two, and it can sleep 3. Regret no children under 12. One dog welcome.

No5 is an oasis of calm where you can truly slip away from it all, amongst the sea-washed woodwork, painted French furnishings and granite stonework. A minute's walk from Mousehole harbour with a sunny terrace perfect for breakfast, evening drinks or a barbecue. There are sea views from the kitchen, the summer sitting room and the main bedroom.

A special welcome includes fresh flowers, Prosecco, mineral water, luxury chocolates, Cornish artisan cheeses, fresh fruit, milk and handmade natural toiletries, as well as a basket of logs for the wood burner.

The cottage is thoughtfully laid out with one large kingsize bedroom on the first floor with its own sitting room and another bedroom tucked away downstairs. Once a potter’s studio, the extra bedroom is now a cosy space with oak woodblock flooring and its own granite steps up to the sunny terrace.

The whole cottage is beautifully equipped for a truly memorable holiday, from the open plan kitchen-diner, to the luxurious main bedroom with its latex king size mattress or the stunning bathroom with rainforest shower, the Egyptian cotton towels and robes and the luxury bedlinen.

The upstairs bedroom adjoins the ‘summer sit’ and boasts opposite views over the rooftops to St. Michael’s Mount and out to sea towards the Lizard and you’ll find an abundance of mod cons from an iPod dock to hair straighteners.

Guestbook comments from the owner

"I just wanted to drop you a quick line to let you know how much we enjoyed our time in Mousehole.

The house was superb - beautifully maintained, well equipped and extremely comfortable. The whole family, including our dog, loved it. Even though we enjoyed some wonderfully mild weather, the wood burner was particularly welcome when we came back in the evenings from a meal in the village. Thank you also for the welcome pack. It was a lovely touch and set just the right tone for the stay.

We will undoubtably look to book the house again at some time."

"What a treasure - The cottage is everything we hoped for - a true gem! We had some exciting times walking the SWCP but were determined to see as much as we could. Will definately be back. Dylan Thomas was right!"

-

"A beautiful cottage in a lovely location - we all slept better than we had all year long."

-

"A wonderful stay in magical Mousehole. Glorious early evenings on the beach with our toddler feeling the sea between his toes for the first time. Treasured memories! Thank you."

Our second visit to No 5 this year

  • 5 of 5

Another lovely stay at No 5. Really beautiful cottage, perfectly situated for the village but very peaceful. Caroline's attention to detail and all the thoughtful touches in the cottage made our stay extra special. We are looking forward to returning next year. Highly recommended.

Very tasteful comfortable cottage

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here at the end of our holiday from Scilly Isles our ferry got us into Penzance around 7.15 pm Caroline was so thoughtful not only was the gorgeous flowers, chocolates Prosecco welcoming she got us fresh bread in as well as she knew we would be tired after a days travel. It is evident that Caroline cares about making you feel welcome with all the lovely touches in the cottage with gorgeous bath and hand wash aromatherapy toiletries in abundance. I had a lovely hot bath in the beautiful huge bath tub and felt instantly revived it was just what i needed after a long days travel. Lovely location, thoroughly recommend this cottage to anyone.

Beautiful, cared for hideaway cottage with a nautical feel!

  • 5 of 5

Caroline's cottage is the perfect base from which to explore this dramatic and charming part of Cornwall. We chose Mousehole quite randomly but having driven through neighbouring towns, it offers the best balance between small maritime village/good restaurants (we tried the Old Coast Guard and 2 Fore Street, both excellent).

The cottage is really cosy, well kept and tasteful designed. Caroline's extra touches of prosecco, chocolates and other Cornish treats on arrival made us feel really welcome, as did the fresh flowers in room. Would definitely come back!

Perfection!

  • 5 of 5

What a stunning cottage and what an amazing owner! We have just returned from what was, for the most part, a wonderful stay in Mousehole. No.5 is simply stunning: the location is perfect, and the cottage itself is full of character, has everything that one needs, is supremely comfortable and is very tastefully and sensitively furnished and decorated. It has such a homely feel as soon as you walk through the door. When we arrived it was dark and rainy, but we were welcomed with flowers, prosecco, strawberries, milk and Cornish cheeses in the fridge, plus a basket of other goodies in the kitchen, and once we were settled in with the woodburner lit we knew we were in for the relaxing break that we both needed.

The owner, Caroline, clearly cares about her tenants having the best experience possible: communication is superb, and nothing is too much trouble. This was never more evident than at the end of the holiday when my husband had an unfortunate accident in Mousehole. Caroline could not have shown more care or understanding, and on top of that provided much appreciated help as we were moving out.

Mousehole itself is stunning. As regular visitors to Cornwall, this has to be one of our favourite places. Its harbour is glorious, and the village relative unspoilt. There is everything that one needs and is very friendly, with beautiful coastal walks.

We can't wait until our next stay at No.5. Although there are a number of lovely properties in Mousehole, this is the place for us. Thank you, Caroline, for everything. Your cottage is glorious, and you are a great person!

Perfect No. 5

  • 5 of 5

We arrived in Mousehole on a slightly rainy autumn day; the moment we set foot in no. 5 Cherry Gardens we felt our everyday cares dissipate as we were enveloped in the calm tranquility of the cottage. It is elegant and cosy. After a preliminary exploration of Mousehole we settled down with mugs of tea and complementary Cornish biscuits upstairs, from where you can enjoy beautiful sea views. Many thoughtful touches had been left for us by the owner, Caroline, that really allowed for a wonderfully relaxing time away.

Our little dog, Bertie, was also made very welcome and he especially enjoyed his home-baked treats and long walks up behind the cottage where the views across St. Michaels Bay are breathtaking.

No. 5 is very comfortable, exceptionally stylish and has more than everything you need for a sumptuous stay. I can only reiterate what others have said in their reviews - it was difficult to leave, and it is high on our list of favourite places to stay. We very much hope to visit again soon. Thank you Caroline for all your hard work and making our stay so special, I wouldn't hesitate in highly recommending this cottage.
