Manor House in Touffailles, Midi Pyrenees, France - 5 minutes to small village & 10 mins Medieval village

This most attractive house has been comfortably renovated and has lovely country views. There are 4 Bedrooms, 3 Bath/shower rooms and 3 WC's to sleep up to 8 people and private swimming pool .

The home is set back from a county, rural roads and situated about 2 kms from the small village of Touffailles which has a small shop, boulangerie and tennis courts. The market town of Montaigu de Quercy is about 10 minutes away with shops and a wonderful leisure lake. Other interesting towns nearby are Lauzerte, which is a medival bastide town with wonderful views and some nice restaurants and festivals and the town of Moissac, set on the banks of the Tarn river with lively weekend markets, and is of great architectural interest having a Romanesque abbey and cloisters

A Drive leads up to the front of the house and parking. To one side is a pretty covered terrace for BBQ’s and shade as well as a small open barn

The 10m x 5m swimming pool is raised up, to the rear of the house.

The entrance leads in to a hall, large well equipped country kitchen with a wood burner. There is a gas/electric hob, oven, dishwasher, kettle, microwave, fridge and coffee maker. Next to the kitchen is a separate dining room. The beamed sitting room has comfortable chairs, a TV, DVD and CD player. On the ground floor is a guest shower room, WC and a washing machine.

Upstairs there are 4 Bedrooms, Bedroom 1 has a 5ft with an en suite bathroom and WC. Bedrooms 2 & 3 have 5ft beds and Bedroom 4 has twin beds. There is a Bathroom and WC. Linen is included but please bring your swimming pool towels.

There is a telephone for local calls, but it is advisable to bring your mobile phones.

The owners of the property are a father (sydney) and son (john) team who have been enjoying this grand and tranquil property set in a lovely rural setting for the past 11 years. Syd is a keen naturalist and enjoys the local fauna and flora of this delightful and unspoilt area of sw France. John enjoys bringing his family here with his wife and 2 daughters to savour all the scenic and culnary delights of France. John who has a hectic life maintaining a business in the uk always declares that as soon as he arrives at our house in touffailles he goes into a relaxing mode and can forget the pressures of his work. His 2 daughters Tia 12 years and Nikita 10 years love coming to the French holiday home.

Misleading website

We have never been so disappointed in a house rented through Owners Direct. This could be a wonderful let; it is a lovely house, well furnished and in a quiet position and the swimming pool is great.

However, it is clear that little maintenance or "TLC" has been given to this house for a long time.

Do not rely on the photos on this site. The outdoor furniture was mismatched, dirty and partially broken There were just a few old sun lounger/chair covers and no sign of the jolly white furniture with blue and white parasols shown on the title photo. There is no "pretty covered terrace ...as well as a small open barn". The open barn is there but not suitable for use by holidaymakers. There is inadequate outside lighting and only the lamp over the door to light the small table outside.

The two walk-in showers were unusable, both the thermostats were broken and the water was unbearably hot. The "shower over bath" was not wall mounted and the glass divider shown in the photo was not there. Hand held showering was the only possibility.

The downstairs bathroom is separated by a curtain from the very messy utility room and is badly lit and equipped.

The kitchen cupboards were musty smelling and needed a good sort-out.

The whole house was dirty and infested with ants, spiders and cockroaches.

Maybe these concerns will be addressed, I hope so but we did see that

the property was listed for sale at a local agent. I received a partial refund of rental after a letter of complaint but no expression of apology.

Owner's Response: After 15 years of summer lets this is the first complaint I have ever received. I can only say that when my wife and I left the property after a months holiday in March/April this year the house was clean and in good working order. There was no problem with the showers. Why 2 walk in showers became suddenly unusable I am unable to comment. The guest was refunded hansomely for this annoying incident. Outside lighting has never an issue previously. The open barn or "hangar" is not a recreational area for guests. It is somewhere to park a car. I disagree that there is no "pretty covered terrace". As to the other complaints (messy utility room, kitchen, insects etc) if true, these could be considered failures in property management and will be addressed in the future.

Special interest holidays:

From the house there are several quiet and safe walks and good cycling countryside. It is near the famous pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostelo, so would make an excellent stopover for anyone making this journey. There are several well-preserved hill-top bastide villages in the area including the famous villages of Lauzerte and Tournon d'Agenais


3 hours' drive to Pyrenees, Atlantic coast or Mediterranean coast.


Approximately 90 minutes from Bergerac Airport, 1.5 hours from Toulouse, and 2 hours from Bordeaux. Cheap flights from these airports to most UK airports run throughout the spring, summer and autumn. 7 hours by car from Caen and St Malo with motorways for most of the distance.


5 minutes to the nearest village.Shops and amenities nearby including a lake with sandy beach, water slides and other amenities (5km). Local village bakery and general store (3km). Excellent supermarket (10km) open 7 days with fresh fish and meat. Plenty of good local walking. Nearest city 43km (Agen). Nearest big town (Moissac) 19km. Local markets on Tuesday (Valence), Saturday and Sunday (Moissac)

Further Details:

There are several restaurants within driving distance including a Michelin 3 star. The local bakery and corner shop is open Monday to Saturday from 0730 to 1930 and sells excellent bread and pastries and general items. Also open on Sundays until 1300. An excellent supermarket is located in nearby Lauzerte : open until late daily and on Sunday mornings. Fresh fish and good meat. Moissac market at the weekends is excellent for all fresh food.

Tennis, boating, cycling, rambling, all available locally. Even a vintage car rally once or twice a year.

Outside there are many walks and trails for those who want to stretch their legs. For those who want to stay seated the satellite TV picks up hundreds of UK and other free-to-air TV channels. Bring your favourite DVDs and play them too.

Ideal for a winter break. The large log fire in the kitchen and ample sofas and armchairs makes the house perfect for a cosy family get together. Every room has a radiator ensuring that the house is always cosy and warm.

For an additional charge we can arrange for your shopping to be done and delivered, for a chef to prepare that special meal.

Saturday to Saturday. Arrival 4.30pm, departure 10.00am. Changeover day is Saturday in peak & high season and other times are flexible.

Notes on prices:
