Charming renovated cottage, sunny enclosed garden, dog friendly, parking, Wells

Overview

Property

Updated: 02-Dec-2016
Cottage in Wells-next-the-Sea, North Norfolk, England - Quiet Location, 10 Min Walk To Quay With Beautiful Wells Beach Beyond

The house is a delightful brick and flint cottage which sleeps 4+baby in 2 bedrooms. Fully centrally heated and completely renovated this year, the house has a wonderfully sunny, south facing enclosed garden with a patio in which to relax in after a busy day on the beach. The house is dog friendly and we accept one well behaved dog. The cottage comprises of sitting room, kitchen and conservatory with dining room table downstairs and upstairs there are two good sized bedrooms and a large family bathroom which has a separate bath and shower. There is off street parking, books, games, toys and wifi. The house is situated within minutes of the Buttlands where there are fantastic award winning gastropubs. Wells Quay is a few minutes walk away where you can watch the local fishermen bring in their catches and children can have great fun fishing for crabs off the 'Albatros' clipper boat. From here you can take the miniature steam train down to Wells beach with it's brightly painted huts and if you are lucky, spot a seal or two. There is so much to do here from sailing and bird watching to enjoying the outdoor cinema at Holkham. What about booking a chocolate making workshop at the Chocolate Deli in Walsingham! Wells Carnival in August and the Pirate Festival in September are also great fun. There is wonderful Christmas shopping in the area. Burnham Market has some fantastic shops and Christmas is celebrated with pretty lights and a skating rink on the green. Father Christmas arrives In Wells Quay by boat, under a display of fireworks at the beginning of December, there are also craft tents on the Buttlands too.

HOT TUB RENTAL now available, please get in touch for more information.

About the Owner

Grey Seal Cottage is owned by Jon and Jane. We live in Norfolk and love coming to Wells with our 3 children and our dog Nelly. We spend many happy hours on the beautiful beach here and enjoy exploring the wonderful North Norfolk Coast. We always leave the cottage feeling a lot more relaxed than when we arrived!

Perfect

The cottage provided everything we needed, the decor is cosy and well presented. The garden was ideal for letting the dog out safely and there is plenty of parking space. The location is ideal for walking to the local pubs and quay. We'd happily come back. 100% recommend. Only thing we can criticise would be not have the option of pushing the twin beds together to make a second double room as there is plenty of space. Thank you for letting us borrow you beautiful cottage.

Perfect again!

Another lovely Anniversary stay at the lovely Grey Seal Cottage. We were very sad to leave the cottage and Wells following a week of fab weather, walks and excellent food. Thank you Jane for the warm welcome of wine, biscuits and flowers.

Kindest wishes Michelle, Mark & Dodger

A cosy seaside cottage with extra comforts to make for a very special stay.

  • 5 of 5

This delightful seaside cottage is perfectly located within a short stroll of the town centre - just enough of a walk to build up an appetite for an ice-cream or a beer at The Globe Inn. It is vey cosy and nicely decorated with extra comforts such as luxury soap and shower gel and fragrant diffusers in each room. The parking is convenient and the good-sized, enclosed garden is perfect for children and dogs. The owners have generously provided a good range of equipment to borrow such as picnic rugs, a BBQ and various others goodies needed for a beach holiday. The kitchen is well equipped and is was a joy to find welcome biscuits, milk and a bottle of wine! The attention to detail made our stay very special and it felt as if we were staying in someone's much-loved home for the week, rather than renting a holiday cottage. I would highly recommend a stay here and we certainly plan to be back.

Beautiful cottage, spotlessly clean & a real home fromHome!

We have just returned from a wonderful week at Grey Seal Cottage. The cottage is beautifully decorated, immaculately clean and the most well equipped (but not cluttered) cottages I've ever stayed in. We hope to return in the not too distant future x

Grey Seal Cottage June 2016

  • 5 of 5

Comfortable attractive cottage with great attention to detail. Well located in the town and a good base for local exploration. Particularly liked sitting in the conservatory watching the garden wildlife and listening to the birdsong. Calm, peaceful and very private. We have had an excellent holiday. Hope to stay here again as one week was not long enough to fully sample the area. Highly recommended but please leave a week free for us next year !

A Cosy Retreat...

  • 5 of 5

This is the first time we have stayed in Wells, although have stayed in villages close-by. Grey Seal Cottage looked lovely in the photos, and didn't disappoint. A beautiful little warm cottage welcomed us along with lovely flowers and biscuits. We had a short family break with our 3 year old, the cottage had everything we needed and more. The cottage is so cosy, welcoming and homely. The week we stayed was a bit changeable weather wise and the cottage always seemed very warm, heating on or off. We always really looked forward to getting back to our cosy little retreat, after a day out... we ate out a lot but it was very easy to cook and stay in too.

Jane, the owner has obviously given a lot of thought care and attention to the design of this cottage, it is beautifully decorated. It has books and games for adults and children of all ages, a big garden which our little girl loved. It has everything you need but is also beautifully minimal. Wells is great for a family holiday with the beach, shops and park just a walk away. We visited the Globe restaurant a couple of times, the food is great but be sure to book. Who needs to get on a plane? We had a wonderful little break and can't wait to visit again.

Location

From the Owner

Wells is fantastic for it's 'bucket and spade' lifestyle. Our children love to wander about the town, buying sweets from the sweet shop, fishing off the quay and swinging off the ropes in the woods next to the beach.

Activity and Interests

Coast/Beach:

Wells beach is just over a mile away. You can walk, drive, cycle or take the miniature steam train. It has a wonderful beach, pine forest walks and a fantastic beach cafe. Holkham beach is a 3 mile drive away.

Travel:

A car is handy to have in this part of the world to properly explore the delights of the area. However there is the Coasthopper bus service which runs the length of the coast.

Distances:

Wells-next-the-Sea beach - 1.5 miles

Holkham Hall (beautiful beach and magnificent estate) - 3 miles

Cley-next-the-Sea (pretty village, galleries and wonderful birdwatching) - 10 miles

Seal trips at Blakeney point - 6 miles

Pensthorpe nature reserve (featured in BBC's 'Springwatch') - 12 miles

Sandringham Estate - 20 miles

Titchwell Marsh RSPB Reserve - 12 miles

Wells and Walsingham Light Railway - 0.6 miles

Splash Leisure Centre for rainy days Sheringham - 17 miles

Further Details:

We are still lucky in Wells to have independent shops including bakeries, butchers and fruit and vegetable shops who sell great local produce. A new Coop has been built a few minute's walk away which is very handy, past the Church and the field of alpacas! There are several fantastic restaurants in Wells, it is worth booking in the high season.
