About the property

Cottage in Wells-next-the-Sea, North Norfolk, England - Quiet Location, 10 Min Walk To Quay With Beautiful Wells Beach Beyond

The house is a delightful brick and flint cottage which sleeps 4+baby in 2 bedrooms. Fully centrally heated and completely renovated this year, the house has a wonderfully sunny, south facing enclosed garden with a patio in which to relax in after a busy day on the beach. The house is dog friendly and we accept one well behaved dog. The cottage comprises of sitting room, kitchen and conservatory with dining room table downstairs and upstairs there are two good sized bedrooms and a large family bathroom which has a separate bath and shower. There is off street parking, books, games, toys and wifi. The house is situated within minutes of the Buttlands where there are fantastic award winning gastropubs. Wells Quay is a few minutes walk away where you can watch the local fishermen bring in their catches and children can have great fun fishing for crabs off the 'Albatros' clipper boat. From here you can take the miniature steam train down to Wells beach with it's brightly painted huts and if you are lucky, spot a seal or two. There is so much to do here from sailing and bird watching to enjoying the outdoor cinema at Holkham. What about booking a chocolate making workshop at the Chocolate Deli in Walsingham! Wells Carnival in August and the Pirate Festival in September are also great fun. There is wonderful Christmas shopping in the area. Burnham Market has some fantastic shops and Christmas is celebrated with pretty lights and a skating rink on the green. Father Christmas arrives In Wells Quay by boat, under a display of fireworks at the beginning of December, there are also craft tents on the Buttlands too.

HOT TUB RENTAL now available. £195 for long weekend, £250 for a week.

About Jane Wilson

Grey Seal Cottage is owned by Jon and Jane. We live in Norfolk and love coming to Wells with our 3 children and our dog Nelly. We spend many happy hours on the beautiful beach here and enjoy exploring the wonderful North Norfolk Coast. We always leave the cottage feeling a lot more relaxed than when we arrived!

Jane Wilson purchased this cottage in 2014

Why Jane Wilson chose North Norfolk & Coast

Wells is fantastic for it's 'bucket and spade' lifestyle. Our children love to wander about the town, buying sweets from the sweet shop, fishing off the quay and swinging off the ropes in the woods next to the beach.

The property is like a home from home and has everything you need for a brilliant stay!

We stayed for a long weekend, and had the best time. The cottage was clean and very comfortable and we can't think of anything that could have been better. Wells is a lovely little town, with lots of interesting independent shops, and dogs are welcomed almost everywhere. The Bowling Green pub just down the road does lovely food, and the Sunday roast was fabulous! We found all the pubs to be very welcoming with great food and atmosphere. There are lots of interesting walks around and about. All in all we enjoyed it so much we will definitely be going back!

Lovely cottage in a lovely town, in a lovely part of the country

  • 5 of 5

Jane is an amazingly helpful host, really goes out of her way for you.

Cottage is lovely, nicely set at the back of the town away from any noise, but just a short 5 min stroll to the front. It has great facilities, bath is to die for, comfy sofas, great open fire, Big bonus is the sun room at the back with is flooded with light being south facing, we had many a glass admiring the garden. The garden is great for both dogs and younger ones to have a run about in, being totally enclosed and pretty much all grass. Given that there is a very nice patio and table to sit out and eat alfresco. We managed to use the deck chairs even at this time of the year the weather was so nice.

5 mins away Wells front and Staithe street provide all you need to have a lovely time. great shops, Delis, pubs and restaurants, fab walking along the creek path to the beach.

Beautiful villages all up and down the coast east to west, each having their own identity and charm. always a delightful pub to stop at and re-fresh. The coastal path is great for walkers, running through all these villages on it's way. The beaches are magnificent, miles wide and long, stretching as far as the eye can see with glorious golden sand, perfect for either a good walk with the pooch or fun with the kids.

Away from the coast and the country offers up delights like Holkham estate, just 5 mins drive away, acres and acres of country estate to explore, lakes, deer palk, stately home, etc. The whole estate even open at this time of the year for you to walk around and enjoy. Then try the numerous market towns and villages inland.

Great places to eat for us were: The Globe, The Fleece in Wells, Kings Arms in Blakeney, The George at Cley, and on your journey in or out to Wells, try the Dabbling Duck in Great Massingham just off the A148, WOW! stunning pub in a picture postcard location.

Don't hesitate, book this cottage, it is fabulous! We will be back!!

P.S. The cottage takes pets, and the whole area is super dog friendly, everywhere accepts them and makes them feel part of the whole experience, in some cases a little too much and we are dog lovers/owners! It may be a bit over the top for some, although it makes it very easy all round if you do own a pooch.

What a little gem - in one word it's totally perfect. You have everything you could need in a lovely cosy little cottage. Nothing has been scrimped on here and you feel so at home. If it's this wonderful in the January weather I can't wait to come back in the spring/summer. Thank you Jane

Just packing up to leave 😔 It's been amazing from start to finish, Jane the owner is so helpful and kept us up to date with everything.

Omg the cottage beautiful from the moment we pulled up outside its stunning 💕💖

Clean, cosy, everything you need secure garden and a beautiful arrival pack 💐🍪

Two minutes walk away from the quay then follow that along to the beautiful beach we had some amazing walks along here.

Pub / food wise .... The Globe and The Crown Inn lovely places clean and nice food ,,, Golden Fleece ok but always so busy, fish and chips from the one up at the quay loovvveeelllyyyy 😀

Already booked to return next year even our 19 year old son loved the cottage his words

" everything creaks in a good way doors floors it's gorgeous "

( if you've ever watched the film ,,,, Holiday ,,, this is the cottage without the snow.

Returning from a huge walk and sitting with a bottle of something good in front of a open fire 🔥 what more could you ask for.

Deli at the top of the strip where all the shops are a must ,,, quiche, scotch eggs, olives, gin 🙊💕 All nice quality food.

( come out the cottage turn left walk down past the church then turn right and follow the street up till you get to the top then turn left cross over straight away and the Main Street with the shops and also leads to the quay straight in front of you ,,, Enjoy we did 💕💖😘👪🐶🍾

Jane once again thank you so much for helping us create beautiful memories can't wait to return 💕💖😘👪🐶
