Lovely cottage welcoming hosts

Pretty quaint cottage ideal for two and handily placed to explore the local area. Met at the door on arrival and lovely touch with a loaf of bread milk and bottle of red wine !

relaxing break

  • 5 of 5

Very pretty cottage and comfortable holiday home. Five mins from town centre where there are numerous shops including Morrisons supermarket. Plenty of places in town to eat out if you don't want to cook. Jane and Roger are lovely hosts and provided a welcome pack to start us off. There is parking in front of the cottage for one car. We normally go abroad for our holiday but this was a really lovely experience as we had never had this type of holiday before. Very pretty villages around the countryside. This cottage is very central to most places. Thank you Jane and Roger for a lovely stay.

Ideal location, lovely comfortable cottage

  • 5 of 5

Stayed here for two weeks in August with our dog. The cottage is extremely comfortable, and more spacious than I expected. The photos don't really do it justice. Jane and Roger, the owners, are extremely friendly and have thought of everything to make the cottage well-equipped and a pleasure to stay in. The cottage is very clean and all the furniture, crockery etc is excellent. Everything works really well - there's a great shower, the tv has lots of channels, the wifi is fantastic and there's lovely outdoor space, including an enclosed gravel area filled with flowering plants in pots, which is enclosed and so safe for the dog to wander about in. Parking the car in this area is very easy. The cottage gives you access to wonderful countryside, and nearby there are fantastic dog walks in the woods in the Bryanston School grounds, or on the water meadows beside the Stour. There are a couple of good pubs in easy strolling distance, a big Tesco's a few minutes' drive away, and Boots, M&S etc are ten minutes' walk away in Blandford. But the cottage is one of just a few houses on its street, and is very quiet and peaceful. Extremely highly recommended. I would have loved to stay even longer and am already looking forward to going back!

Delightful and perfect for my needs

  • 5 of 5

Had lovely welcome on arrival from our hosts - so much thought and so helpful the little extras were just so nice, real buttrr and homemade marmalade in elcome pack! and just refreshing to be somewhere where old fashioned values still exist. Courtyard filled with flowers and a lovely garden that kept two very small boys and one Granny very happy. The cottage was bigger and better equipped than expected and locality just great. The best of both worlds. I love Dorset and hope to be back for longer next time.

Beautiful cottage , excellent facilities in pretty location.

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was exactly as described and perfect for our mid week break with our retriever. Jane and Roger live next door and were on hand if needed but not inhibiting at all .They had thought of everything and provided bread, milk, marmalade, biscuits, tea, coffee ,sugar, salt and pepper, chocolates and wine in the welcome pack which was greatly appreciated. They even provided dog biscuits and dog towel too . We were able to make use of the summer house in the secluded garden .

Everything in the house was finished to a very high quality. Thank you Jane and Roger ,we would certainly visit again if we return to Dorset . Would recommend visiting Poole, Bournemouth, Weymouth and the New Forest , we were lucky to be there for the New Forest show .

April cottage provided everything needed for a perfect holiday for both of us and our dog, the welcome pack from the owners was an added bonus. Plenty of places to eat and drink within walking distance, and lovely doggy walks along the river. We would'nt hesitate to recommend April cottage to our family and friends. We hope to return to explore more of delightful Dorset!

We bought the property about 20 years ago and have spent years renovating the main house and the cottage. The rural aspect and closeness to town attracted us initially.
