About the property

W2452

Two stunningly refurbished apartments in an Edwardian House located in the heart of St. Davids. 31a in a 1st and 2nd floor maisonette, whilst 31b is on the ground floor. The apartments are a tasteful fusion of the style of the 1920's with a contemporary twist. Beautiful bedrooms with two bathrooms provide stylish accommodation for four and 6 people. The apartment is centrally heated with a gas fire in the living room for the cosy nights and there is instant hot water on demand. Free internet access is provided via wifi and a smart TV allows access for film downloads, catch up TV etc. The spacious kitchens have ample seating for additional guests if entertaining is a requirement. A washer dryer is situated in the boot room and an outbuilding for storage of all your beach stuff. Whilst centrally located, the apartments share a peaceful garden, and the ground floor also a sunny courtyard for outdoor relaxation. All the local amenities are on the doorstep, the supermarket is 50yards away, as is the city centre with its shops, banks, cafes, pubs and restaurants. The nearest beach is a 10 minute walk, as is the beautiful Pembrokeshire coast path. Public transport is also on the doorstep, which provides links to our beaches, North and South Pembrokeshire, and with rail links to the rest of the country.

About Matthew James

Hi, I'm Matthew and together with my 3 brothers we own Bryn Sion. The property has been in our family since it was built in the 1920s by our great great uncle. If you're interested in our history, please visit our website www.jamesproperties.net where you'll find how my family are rooted in the story of this village city and how my ancestors helped shape and develop it.

I'm an architect by profession, working in London for the first part of my career until I came home to St.Davids a few years ago. It's a wonderfully enchanting place to live. We've let residential properties for generations and decided this year to convert this property to a holiday rental. It's ideally located, has an abundance of space, inside and outside and I've tried to provide everything that will make your stay a great one.

What makes this apartment unique

Great place to stay right in the centre of St David's

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay at 31a. The house is very well located. Matthew was very helpful and made sure we were happy with everything before leaving us to enjoy our stay. The house is well kitted out and - best of all - has the most fantastic view of the coast from the top bedroom window.

Unexpected treasure

  • 5 of 5

We booked late and as we were travelling with our dog we weren't sure what to expect. Places aren't always quite as they seem in the pictures. This place was awesome however. The children loved the special tv room on the top floor and the grown-ups certainly appreciated the quiet lounge. The kitchen was well equipped and linens were spotlessly clean. Communication with the host was perfect and incredibly friendly. The property is only 5 minutes from the Nisa supermarket and another 5 minutes (if that) from town in the other direction. It was also handy to have residents parking a few minutes walk away. There are some stunning beaches a short drive away and a fun Bug Farm 1 mile up the road (where you can have bugs in your lunch!). If you're there in Summer don't miss the Dusty Knuckle pop-up pizza shack and the hipster coffee van at the end of the road. Dogs might also appreciate the special dog ice-cream at the ice-cream parlour. St Davids isn't a big place but it's full of charm and we will definitely be back.

A comfortable, well-equipped apartment in the heart of St Davids

  • 5 of 5

The apartment is a comfortable and relaxing base in the heart of the cathedral city. Matthew the owner, has thought of everything that you might need to enjoy your stay and more besides. The house has been sympathetically renovated and retains much of its Edwardian charm whilst providing all modern conveniences. Beds and bedding are of the highest quality and so comfortable. The arrangement of rooms and generous proportions made it ideal for our multi-generational holiday - plenty of spaces to be together and separate!. The kitchen is equipped for whatever cooking you might wish to do - Christmas dinner for five was a doddle - and the local produce inspires you to cook.

Matthew answered all pre-holiday queries with a genuine desire to help and make our Christmas holiday in St Davids memorable. A warm and generous greeting shortly after arrival - along with a Christmas tree and decorations - made us feel incredibly welcome and relaxed in the apartment.

The surrounding area speaks for itself - beautiful city, cathedral and coastline makes repeat visits a must. We will certainly use the apartment again.

Great property with loads of space

  • 4 of 5

We had a great time at Bryn Sion (31a New Street). The house was well-looked after and clean. There was so much space, including two sitting rooms. Great for groups with kids.

The house is very central and close to all the local amenities in St David's - the supermarket and playground are just down the road and the centre of St David's, including the cathedral, shops and pubs, just a couple of minutes walk. Also the views from the top of the house all the way to the coast are amazing.

Matthew, the owner, was very helpful and answered all our questions promptly. We even had a great welcome pack of locally made brownies and marmalade.

Wonderful location and property.

  • 5 of 5

We rented both units for a stay starting July 1st. The property is located on one of the main streets and is easy walking distance to the shops, supermarket, cathedral and pubs and restaurants.

We were an extended family of 10, the older members taking the downstairs unit and the younger taking the upstairs, which is laid out over two+ floors. Note there are a lot of steps in the upper unit - but what better way to work off the daily ice-cream!

Both units were clean. The furnishings are comfortable and in style with the house. The beds were also comfortable and the linens were of a high quality. The kitchens were equipped with everything you could need - we even did some home baking. The upstairs kitchen was large enough to easily seat 8 and we added a little table for the kids so we could all eat together. Downstairs there was one lounge. In the upper unit, two lounges, although only one with a TV. This gave plenty of space to hang out.

There is a lovely little garden to the rear of the property and garden furniture that can be used.

Matthew was easy to work with and was available for questions while we were there. We felt it was very good value for money and will likely return sometime in the future. Even though the weather didn't fully co-operate we had a great time. Thank you

Matthew was very welcoming and his home was perfect in every way. Location, amenities and VERY comfortable beds. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in St. David's and staying at this property certainly helped in our overall impression of a great area.

Distances:

The picturesque harbour village of Solva is about 3 miles eastbound. Haverfordwest, the market town of Pembrokeshire is 17 miles eastbound.

Further Details:

The city offers a variety of shops ranging from those selling local fresh produce, art and craft, surfing equipment, shoes and clothing. St. Davids seems to be emerging as a centre for clothing retail, attracting brands such as Fat-Face, White Stuff, Joules and Crew to name but a few. The city also boasts a fine farmers market which springs up around the market square every Thursday.

the main attraction is the wonderful 12th Century Cathedral and nearby Bishop's Palace. Both these stand low in the Vale of Roses on the river Alun. History tells us that this site was chosen so as to keep them safe and out of the sight of Viking invaders. Today the Cathedral is not only a place of worship, but is a spectacular venue for concerts, music festivals, ceremonial events and indeed as a film set for movie productions.

The Cathedral is unique and is one of Wales' primary tourist attractions. It is said that in the 12th Century, Pope Calixtus II decreed that two pilgrimages to St. Davids were equal to one to Rome.

Engulfing this unique village city is the beautiful coastline that attracts walkers from all over the globe. its breathtaking scenery offers an incredible resource of wildlife, bith flora and fauna, spectacular seabirds and sea life. Caves are stumbled across and offer their enchantment, and windswept beaches of golden sand provide ideal locations for picnicking, walking and many other outdoor activities such as horse riding, surfing, coasteering and kayaking.
