Larches Cottage is one of three mews cottages situated around their own enclosed courtyard. The three cottages are recently built with a sensitive application of both modern and traditional materials enjoying all the attractive amenities provided for this lovely collection of old cottages nestling deep in the heart of the South Hams.

Larches Cottage has been built to a high standard with carpeting throughout and fitted with comfortable furniture and furnishings. Gas fired central heating, modern insulation and double glazing ensure this cottage is ideal for off-season use.

Outside: Lovely lush 1.5 acre communal garden (access across adjacent courtyard) with games area, playhouse and swings and lots of places to relax and enjoy the rolling countryside on view. Complete with brick built barbecues and picnic tables. Ponds/water features - (unfenced so small children must be supervised). Please keep dogs on a lead to protect the ducks. Ducks, chickens and rescue pheasants and barn owls are kept on site. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and Bed Linen provided. Property is cleaned before visit and cleaning/ change of bedlinen after each week stayed by arrangement. Please bring your own beach towels. All fuel and electricity included. High-chair, travel cot and stair gate provided

Lovely peaceful and well equipped cottage. Comfortable and plenty of space.

Good directions make it easy to find in a rural setting but with other cottages nearby. Everything you need Inc efficient heating and comfy beds and TV with a good signal. WiFi works well and with all included this is good value and worked well for us.

Lots of lovely beaches a short drive away. The closest is 3 mile long Slapton Sands under 10 mins away. 5 mins further towards Dartmouth is Blackpool Sands - a Blue Flag beach with restaurant/shop/changing facilities. Travelling past Kingsbridge about 20 mins away are Thurlestone, Bantham and Bigbury (30 mins) and Burgh Island. If you prefer more remote beaches travel about 20 mins to Start Point and walk down coastal path to Mattiscombe and Lannicombe. South Hall Sands and Beesands are 20 mins.


It is essential to have your own transport as the nearest bus route is 1.5 miles away.

Parking is available by the cottage for two cars with additional spaces behind Buckland House stables.


The nearest village is Slapton - 1.5 miles away.

Torcross, Strete, East Allington, Chillington - 10/15 mins drive.

Dartmouth and Dittisham are 20 mins.

Closest supermarket, high street, swimming pool - Kingsbridge 15 mins

Totnes 15 mins.

East Portlemouth and Salcombe about 25 mins.

Closest beaches 10 mins - many others within 20/30 mins.

Nearest golf club - 15 mins, most others within 30 mins.

The South West Coastal path is 15 minutes away.

Dartmoor National Park - 30 mins.

Great pubs and restaurants in the area at Slapton, Torcross, Strete, Beesands, Chillington, Stokenham, Dartmouth, Hope Cove, Salcombe, Totnes.

Dartmouth for boat trips out to sea or up the River Dart, shops, restaurants, galleries etc. Also Dartmouth castle has been guarding the town since 1300's.

Lovely walks from Dartmouth and also Kingswear opposite bank of Dart.

Steam train from Kingswear to Totnes.

Dittisham for crabbing and good pub and cafe. Also get to Agatha Christie's estate Greenway by ferry from here (or boat from Dartmouth)

Kingsbridge has nearest Tesco and Morrisons with high street shops, post office, cinema, swimming pool, leisure centre, tennis courts. River boat to Salcombe at high tide.

Totnes, supermarket, leisure centre - lots of eclectic/interesting shops and cafes. Totnes castle 12 century. Steam train trips from here.

Dartington - gift and craft shops, restaurant.

Horse Riding - Dittisham.

Nearest Adventure Park - Woodlands Adventure Park - 15 minutes drive.

Water sports including sailing at various locations around the area.

Pet Fee £25

Booking Notes:
A booking can be secured by a 25% deposit, to be paid in full six weeks before commencement of the holiday. If the period before
the booking is less than 6 weeks, the amount will have to be paid in full. We have a standard charge of £25-00 per week for a pet.

Short breaks (low season only): Minimum 4 nights = 80% of weekly price, subject to availability. 5 or 6 nights will be charged at the full weekly rate.

We offer a 10% discount to returning Larches guests.

Payment via bank transfer or cheque. Cancellation insurance advisable.

Changeover Day:
Changeover day is usually Saturday but other arrangements may be possible in the low season - please ask the owner. Please arrive after 3 pm and depart before 10 am.

Christmas and New year dates are flexible - please enquire.
