About Iain and Josie Hamilton-Cook

Iain works as a teacher and Josie runs her own food development business. We moved to the Lincolnshire Wolds 10 Years ago as it was so beautiful and unspoilt, an idyllic place to bring up our daughter. It felt as though we were on holiday living there and we decided other people would enjoy it just as much. We started by opening Byford Lodge, which offered luxury living in the heart of Louth. This quickly gained Visit England's highest award of 5 Star Gold status. We love offering people the chance to experience a high quality holidays in luxurious surroundings.

Iain and Josie Hamilton-Cook purchased this cottage in 2014

Why Iain and Josie Hamilton-Cook chose England

We got the same feel when we saw Orford Farm Cottages as we did when we first saw our house. When we purchased the cottage it may have needed complete renovation however it had the most important thing....Location, Location, Location. Peace, tranquility and a view to die for! It was only 15 minutes to our house in Louth yet felt like a million miles away.

What makes this cottage unique

Peace, tranquility, 360 degree views of the Lincolnshire wolds. Luxury home from home.

Exquisite place to stay - incomparable customer service

  • 5 of 5

Three of us stayed here for a board gaming weekend and it was excellent. The conservatory gave us loads of natural light in the daytime and it had lovely views (albeit slightly wasted on us!). For breakout sessions we relaxed in the lounge on the comfy sofas.

The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed and was well lit (us board gamers like our light).

The design of the venue was quirky and spacious. Recommended!

One last thing, Josie and Iain managed that rare talent of being on hand to help out and being in the background so as not to intrude. Thank you both for all your efforts!

Stunning cottage and beautiful views

  • 5 of 5

We rented the cottage on a longer-term basis (about 2 months) whist our family home was having an extension built. From the moment we met Josie and Iain, and saw the stunning cottage we knew we had landed on our feet. Josie and Iain were so welcoming and accommodating of our two young boys (aged 2 and 4 at the time), and also our dog Holly. The cottage itself is in a peaceful location, with beautiful countryside views. The cottage is luxurious and stylish and was spotlessly clean when we arrived. The cottage is compact upstairs but still manages to feel light and airy. Downstairs is more open plan and the bifold doors which allow you to open up the kitchen and sun room/dinning area into the garden was fantastic. We had mixed weather during our stay and it can feel a bit windy and exposed at times but when the sun was shining the garden was a great place to be, with those fabulous views and lovely table and chairs to entertain outside. My only issue with the garden was that for anyone staying with young children or a dog that likes to stray, it could be a concern as there was no secure fence or hedges as the garden is still getting established. It wasn't a problem for us as the neighbour Karen was so friendly and very kind to our boys, letting them and the dog roam around her garden. The cottage was very well equipped and perhaps the only other addition we might suggest would be a bbq (i don't think there was one when we stayed last year but there might be by now). The location of the cottage may be a little remote for some but for us it was just fine, with a couple of little shops, a nice pub and an excellent Chinese in the nearby village (within walking distance if you don't have any mobility issues, there are a lot of steep hills!). Josie and Iain were easily contactable if we had any queries and were very fair when it came to agreeing the terms and cost of the rental period. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this cottage to anyone, and can honestly say that we all missed it when we finally moved back home. Thanks again Josie and Iain, and sorry it has taken me so long to write this review!

Wonderful and relaxing stay in a beautiful property

  • 4 of 5

Welcome hamper was an appreciated surprise with wine, home made bread and cake with milk also chilling in the fridge. This property has been finished to a very high standard and well equipped. Everything was thought of for in our trip even home made meals in the freezer to purchase if required. Log fire with starter pack was wonderful and set the ambience at night. Throughout luxurious with decor and furnishing. Spotlessly clean. Enjoyed our meals in the orangery looking at the view of the village. Relaxing break and enjoyed being near to the coast for fresh air and dog walk. Highly recommend to our friends and family
