The house is part Victorian and part modern. An extension to the local flower shop which is on "Bishy Road" opposite the famous "Pig and Pastry" cafe. (probably the best cafe in Yorkshire). Bishy Road has just won the Local Centre of the British High St of the Year 2015. http://thegreatbritishhighstreet.co.uk/high-street-of-the-year-award

First floor living room. Archway through to the kitchen. Ground floor with entrance hall, one double bedroom, one single bedroom and modern bathroom. Free Parking and Free WiFi. Bed Linen and towels provided. Only 0.4 miles from Clifford's Tower and Castle Museum - 9 minute walk according to Google!

I am now retired and bought two small properties to rent out and as a retirement project. I have enjoyed working on this property and I may live there myself one day! I have lived in the area for 20 years and it was always an ambition to live near York it is such an amazing place. I love the history particularly as its possible to go back 2000 years.

Why David A Hirst chose North Yorkshire

I always wanted a property in this particular area as it is attractive and I knew it would get more popular. It has the best of both worlds in that it has its own community and shops but is close to the Centre of York and all its attractions.

What makes this house unique

It is a great place to be and has a wonderful community yet it is within easy walking distance of the Centre and historical sites.

The only problem is that the food at the Pig & Pastry Cafe is so good its difficult to stay away! I buy something every time I visit to clean the house!.

Just to stay in this area is a unique experience and will be enjoyable as well as an excellent base for visiting York and surrounding area.

Within walking distance of the historic centre of York. Cliffords Tower is 0.4 mile away.

Travel:

Property is within walking distance if reasonably fit of York Railway Station. Suggest using a taxi which should be a minimum fare.

Distances:

York Centre 500 metres approximately, Cliffords Tower and Castle Museum 200 metres. River walks and City Walls 100 metres. York station within walking distance or short taxi journey. York Race Course within short driving distance. Good bus service.

Further Details:

In the Bishy Road shopping area there are two small supermarkets, three cafes including a "gluten free" cafe. Four well now restaurants (French, Indian, Sicilian and Thai. One public house. One delicatessen.

An entrance to Rowntree Park is a few metres away. This was renovated s few years ago and is a well loved park with a lake, library cafe and riverside walks. An entrance to the City Walls is close by. A short walk over the bridge brings you to Clifford's Tower and the nearby Yorvik Centre. A few more metres and the centre of York with shops and a regular themed market. Round the corner is the famous "Shambles" and the full York Market leading you to the Minster. Most of York's attractions and historical sites are within walking distance. A visit to the National Railway Museum is best by car or bus.

Lovely house and great location. Exellent value for money.

I have just spent 5 day in the upside down house with my husband and daughter. We really enjoyed our stay. The house is perfect, and in a perfect location.The house itself has everything you need and is very clean and cosy. The location is only a 10 minute walk from the city centre. If we were to return to York I would book this property again. I would highly recommend staying here.

Nice little flat in an excellent location

Very good facilities which seemed to lacked nothing, very convenient for both the station and the city centre. We loved the Bishy Road shops / cafe's / bars.

Marked it down by one star because of the mix up over our arrival day & so it was not fully prepared when we got there

Convenient location in York

This property was within walking distance of most of the places we wanted to visit. Parking was easy. There are useful shops nearby (Sainsbury, vege shop, fish and chips, bakery...) and a great park along the road. The house is well equipped and comfortable.

lovely comfortable accommodation close to so many attractions

The house was beautifully clean, beds extremely comfortable. Being able to leave our car and not move it during our stay was a real bonus. The railway museum was a great hit with our grandson.
