About David A Hirst

I am now retired and bought two small properties to rent out and as a retirement project. I have enjoyed working on this property and I may live there myself one day! I have lived in the area for 20 years and it was always an ambition to live near York it is such an amazing place. I love the history particularly as its possible to go back 2000 years.

David A Hirst purchased this house in 2013

Why David A Hirst chose North Yorkshire

I always wanted a property in this particular area as it is attractive and I knew it would get more popular. It has the best of both worlds in that it has its own community and shops but is close to the Centre of York and all its attractions.

What makes this house unique

It is a great place to be and has a wonderful community yet it is within easy walking distance of the Centre and historical sites.

The only problem is that the food at the Pig & Pastry Cafe is so good its difficult to stay away! I buy something every time I visit to clean the house!.

Just to stay in this area is a unique experience and will be enjoyable as well as an excellent base for visiting York and surrounding area.

Quirky little property.

  • 4 of 5

Great location for Bishy Road and a 10 minute walk to city centre. Lovely and clean, very comfortable stay. Perhaps just a little street noise with the main bedroom being downstairs but other than that a very nice place to stay.

Thanks David.

Would recommend.

Lovely, clean, well equipped little house in a perfect location.

  • 5 of 5

This house was ideal for our girly weekend away. Located next to all of the Bishy Road amenities, including cafes, restaurants and a deli and only 10min stroll in to York. Owner also very polite and helpful.

Great place to stay

  • 5 of 5

My daughter and I were in York for a Uni interview so a 2-bed rental made sense. And what a great one to pick. 30 seconds walk from Bishopthorpe (Bishy) Road and 10 mins from the centre of town. The house is lovely and cosy, small but well laid out and appointed. It has everything that you need and David is a great host.

We made use of the eating spots on Bishy Road - fantastic Thai at Rice Style, Sicilian lunch, coffee from Stanley and Ramona and breakfast at Robinsons. Our only regret was eating in town 1 night when we should have headed back to Bishy Road.

Fantastic!

Everything was wonderful. The upside down house had a great location to reach the sites in York on foot, it was well-appointed and clean, and came with everything we could have wanted. I cannot recommend this rental enough.

Excellent location

We wanted a place that was out of the way but still a close walk to the city center, and this was perfect for that. Everything was clean and well maintained, and our stay there was very comfortable overall.
