About the Owner

I am now retired and bought two small properties to rent out and as a retirement project. I have enjoyed working on this property and I may live there myself one day! I have lived in the area for 20 years and it was always an ambition to live near York it is such an amazing place. I love the history particularly as its possible to go back 2000 years.

Great house and location-just needs some TLC

  • 3 of 5

Lovely house in a fantastic location-Bishy Road was charming and had some great shops. York centre was just 10mins walk away-we didn't use the car for the whole stay.

The property does needs some TLC-just decorative where the paintwork has been knocked/scraped. It all needed a proper spring clean-and the oven hadn't been cleaned for some time judging by the smoke that came out when we used it on the first night. We didn't risk using it again after that, despite being there for 3 nights.... Overall a good stay-just a few tweaks and it would have been 5 stars.

Very good property in an ideal location

  • 5 of 5

Cosy and comfortable accommodation with facilities that met our needs. David provided a very good customer service in relation to directions/instructions and the wine, coffee and brownies was very much appreciated. All the attractions of York are within easy walking distance, including a good variety of restaurants. Bishy Road itself is excellent for local supermarkets, delis and cafes. Highly recommended for staying in York.

Great location, easy to get to everything in York

  • 5 of 5

David has a nice house just outside the old medieval city wall. It was very easy to walk to see all the sights in York. We took a nice morning walk along the top of the old city wall and were at the Minster, on the opposite side of town, within about 20 minutes. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed. David was very pleasant to work with and was very prompt with all of his communications. We had a wonderful stay and would definitely stay again.

A little gem to relax in.

  • 5 of 5

Having done B & B every time we come to York, we thought it was time for a change to Self catering and we found Davids house in the area that we have often stayed in before. And what a cracking find. The house is very clean and tidy and has comfy seating, comfy beds and a good hot shower. All of which are a must for me. There is everything in the house that any visitor would require, and the added touches of, Flowers, Bottle of Wine and milk for brews off David are a lovely bonus .Bishy Rd has shops that has all you could need for self cat, and its only a 10min stroll into the centre of York for sightseeing and more. All in All, we found this a very relaxed place to stay and will definatly be back again

Lovely house in the middle of York

  • 5 of 5

This was my first Home Away stay. The house was perfect. It was centrally located to all the tourist sites of York. David, the host was lovely. He provided great info about York. The house offered a lot of little details you just can't get a hotel. I thought the fresh flowers and all the kitchen extras where well thought out and very much appreciated. I couldn't have hoped for a better experience. Thank you so much David!

I always wanted a property in this particular area as it is attractive and I knew it would get more popular. It has the best of both worlds in that it has its own community and shops but is close to the Centre of York and all its attractions.

From the Owner

It is a great place to be and has a wonderful community yet it is within easy walking distance of the Centre and historical sites. The only problem is that the food at the Pig & Pastry Cafe is so good its difficult to stay away! I buy something every time I visit to clean the house!. Just to stay in this area is a unique experience and will be enjoyable as well as an excellent base for visiting York and surrounding area.
