Courtside Cottage sleeps up to seven and Courtside Studio sleeps up to four. Enjoy our wonderful facilities or just relax in a fantastic setting. Set in the picturesque grounds of Hunmanby Hall, a former girls boarding school on the north Yorkshire coast. Our excellent sporting facilities are completely FREE of charge. Including FREE use of our wonderful 9 hole golf course (probably the best 9 hole full size course in the area) Golf clubs and trolleys are available. With panoramic views of Filey Bay and Bempton Cliffs. Four hard surface tennis courts, state of the art gym, badminton hall and one mile parkland walk. All these facilities are FREE with your holiday stay. We have private parking and WiFi An ideal place for exploring the beautiful. Yorkshire coast line, three miles from Filey and a short drive to both Scarborough and Bridlington. The Yorkshire moors & Dalby Forest are within easy reach. “We do have it all at Hunmanby Hall!”

About the Owner

In 1997 Karen and Tony Cawthorn with daughter Katy embarked on an exciting journey when they purchased the old school grounds of Hunmanby Hall, a former derelict girls boarding school.

The 50 acres of school land was completely overgrown but with a lot of hard work it was transformed (by Tony ) into probably the best full sized 9 hole golf course in the area.

The tennis courts have also been completely refurbished

The gym originally the schools work shops have been transformed into a state of the art gym with stunning views over the golf course and the sea.

The parkland walk surrounding the golf course has spectacular views and an abundance of wild flowers.

The building of Courtside Cottages was the competion of it all.

So you see...we do have it ALL at Hunmanby Hall

What a great holiday again

Should have stayed in the studio apartment which perfectly good for us but Karen upgraded us to the cottage. Both are really clean and well equipped for the price you pay. The facilities are first class and the owners polite and attentive whilst not getting in the way of you enjoying yourselves. We would recommend anybody that wants a relaxing yet fun holiday comes here

Comfortable Cottage, superb facilities

All mod cons that you would expect from holiday accommodation. Friendly and helpful hosts. Fabulous facilities, we made full use of golf course (clubs, balls etc provided), tennis court and gym. Handy location for all seaside resorts which we visited. Hope to be able to visit again.

fabulous place!

We had a great time as a group of seven, 3 adults and 4 children, staying at the cottage. It had plenty of space and even had blackout blinds!

The outside area is contained so ideal for small children. With access to all the facilities for FREE there really was something for everyone. The owners are very friendly and helpful.

We will definitely be visiting again.

Yet another lovely break at Hunmanby. We have been holidaying here for 15 years which says it all really. For many years we stayed in the cottage with our 3 sons - in recent times we have hired the cottage and studio to accommodate our expanding family!! Great accommodation which is comfortable, well equipped and we feel totally at home here. As always we made use of the excellent onsite facilities including the 9 hole golf course, tennis courts and gym - if you have kids who play golf or tennis they will love this place. As usual Karen & Tony were the perfect hosts giving us a warm welcome, but affording us the space and privacy to enjoy a peaceful and relaxing holiday.

Three to four day golfing breaks.

Coast/Beach:

The nearest beach is the wonderful safe and clean Hunmanby Gap.( as are all the nearby beaches) This is approx 2.5 miles away and a walk along the beach to Filey and back to sample one of the many cafes or a fish and chip lunch is highly recommended.

Filey is 3 miles, Scarborough is 9 miles and Bridlington is 7 miles away.

Travel:

Humberside airport is 65 miles, Leeds Bradford is 70 miles.

The port of Hull is 40 miles

For overseas visitors a car would be necessary.

Distances:

The North york moors and Dalby Forest are within an hours drive away. As is the historical city of York. Hunmanby is on the train and bus route.

The ancestral seaside resort of Whitby and Goathland ( Heart Beat country) and the north yorkshire steam train at Pickering( Harry Potter) are also approx 1 hour drive

Further Details:

We are on the doorstep of the charming village of Hunmanby which is a few minutes walk away.

It offers a supermarket, butchers, green grocers, deli and bakers, cafe, Chinese take away, pizza take away, several pubs ( offering food) and a superb fish and chip shop!

Filey which is just 3 miles and Scarborough 9 miles away has many more amenities including a bank and larger supermarket, etc

Notes:

  • Notes on accommodation: Courtside Cottages are a family concern. Tony and Karen look after the holiday cottages and the golf course and Katy ( daughter )runs the gym and classes and the tennis section. Many of our guests have made regular repeat visits. The cottage and the Studio provide comfortable and homely accommodation and the FREE facilities are all on the doorstep. We can offer 3-4 day short breaks as available which includes use of the golf course, etc. Prices available on request Outside: The Sudio has a Paved patio with table and chairs and a courtyard area at front with chilrens toys available. The Cottage has an enclosed garden at the rear with table and chairs and a grassed walled front garden A small childrens play area (slide and swings) is adjacent to the putting green. The nine hole golf course, tennis courts and parkland walk are on the doorstep The parkland walk and golf course have spectacular views of Filey bay and Bempton cliffs and the north Yorkshire coast..
