About Joan and Dennis Glass

The location of our house is just outstanding and we, Joan and Dennis, welcome visitors to share the amazing situation and views.

Joan and Dennis Glass purchased this cottage in 1996

Why Joan and Dennis Glass chose Caernarfon

Work brought us to the area over 50yrs ago and from our previous house on the opposite side of the valley we kept looking towards Fachwen with envy because, being south facing, was in full sun whenever it shone! Consquently, when the opportunity arose we moved across and valley and just love every minute of living here.

The cottage end is about 150yrs old and we have been successfully renting it to holiday makers for over 20yrs.

The great outdoors attracted us to Snowdonia and the location of the house is ideal for all types of outdoor activities, including walks straight from the door, and of course Snowdon, the Great Little Trains of Wales, Castles, beaches, and the Isle of Anglesey 30mins drive away. It is also a perfect retreat for getting away from it all and just chilling out.

What makes this cottage unique

Outside, we have off road parking, stunning views and an enclosed gravel area with decking and another seating area to catch the best of the sun, and after a day out whether touring or being energetic, it's the perfect place to sit and read or enjoy the odd glass of wine or two.

Fabulous cosy and quiet cottage with stunning view

  • 5 of 5

This lovely cottage is perfect for couples who want to explore Snowdonia or just take it easy in quiet and relaxing surroundings. The lounge is comfortable, bedroom cosy and the kitchen equipped with everything you could need for a short stay. Underfloor heating in the downstairs shower room/WC was most welcome and there is room in the indoor porch area to securely store a cycle (or possibly two). Cycling in the area is definitely recommended as there is some great riding both on and off-road.

Located on the hillside above Llyn Padarn, the views are stunning and there are shortcuts on foot or by bike into Llanberis if you don't want to take the car. We stayed for four nights in early March 2018 and wish that it could have been a whole week as there is so much to do even this early in the year. Special thanks to owner Joan for her wealth of local knowledge and needlework skill, much of which adorns the cottage walls!

Excellent cottage in a perfect location

  • 5 of 5

Well-equipped, spotlessly clean, warm and cosy, Joan and Dennis's cottage provides the perfect place to stay within easy reach of all that this beautiful area has to offer. We were welcomed by Joan on arrival with delicious Welsh cakes, tea and coffee - thank you! The views from the cottage of Snowdon are amazing! Would highly recommend.

Beautiful cosy cottage, lovely hosts

  • 5 of 5

We have just got back from our visit, and only stayed for 2 nights- but it was fantastic. We were greeted by Dennis who was very lovely, and entered the property to find homemade Welsh cakes- delicious. The property is much more spacious that the pictures give it credit for. It's got so much character and is very clean and tidy.

It was perfect accommodation for our needs; we went on a couple of walks and came back to cook dinner and have a cosy night in.

Can't wait to come back in the summer :)

Thank you for your hospitality Joan and Dennis!

Amazing stay!

  • 5 of 5

Brilliant hosts, every small detail is catered for and nothing overlooked. The ‘snug’ is so homely and welcoming, the perfect fit for two people. The scenery is incredible, luckily the weather held off enough for us to walk around the lake and into Llanberis. Would love to stay again!
