About Joan and Dennis Glass

The location of our house is just outstanding and we, Joan and Dennis, welcome visitors to share the amazing situation and views.

Joan and Dennis Glass purchased this cottage in 1996

Why Joan and Dennis Glass chose Caernarfon

Work brought us to the area over 50yrs ago and from our previous house on the opposite side of the valley we kept looking towards Fachwen with envy because, being south facing, was in full sun whenever it shone! Consquently, when the opportunity arose we moved across and valley and just love every minute of living here.

The cottage end is about 150yrs old and we have been successfully renting it to holiday makers for over 20yrs.

The great outdoors attracted us to Snowdonia and the location of the house is ideal for all types of outdoor activities, including walks straight from the door, and of course Snowdon, the Great Little Trains of Wales, Castles, beaches, and the Isle of Anglesey 30mins drive away. It is also a perfect retreat for getting away from it all and just chilling out.

What makes this cottage unique

Outside, we have off road parking, stunning views and an enclosed gravel area with decking and another seating area to catch the best of the sun, and after a day out whether touring or being energetic, it's the perfect place to sit and read or enjoy the odd glass of wine or two.

Guestbook comments from the owner

A little bit of heaven!

  • 5 of 5

Enveloped in a swirling, Welsh grey mist we arrived at Chwarel Goch late in the afternoon. Croeso! This was indeed a cold, damp welcome outside. But what of the welcome inside? Slices of butter topped Bara Brith and mugs of hot, sweet, builders' tea offered a warm, cosy greeting that was always there at the end of every day of roaming over the hills and valleys of Snowdonia. For us, every day was a perfect walking day starting with the mesmerising view from Chwarel Goch ranging from the Irish Sea in the north-west to Snowdon in the south. Who could fail to be inspired by such a view and not look forward to the start of another day.

Everything one could wish for was in this cosy cottage but don't forget to take your own wine and beer for you'll almost certainly enjoy the evenings outside imbibing your good cheer and the scenery.

The owners, Joan and Dennis, are a wealth of local information and their guidance should be encouraged by everyone who stays at Chwarel Goch.

Very homely and welcoming

  • 5 of 5

My friend and I climbed Mt Snowdon, and it was so nice to return to this homely cottage at the end of a tough trek. Joan was very welcoming and helpful, and the views are stunning. A really cozy and snug layout to the cottage.

Weekend get away

  • 5 of 5

We decided on a last minute weekend away and this was just perfect. The snug as it was called was lovely and had everything you needed for your stay. There was tea and coffee with an amazing barabrith to enjoy when we arrived. Though the weather was not great there were some amazing views from the house. A lovely place to escape to, peaceful and relaxing.

Exellent property in a wonderfull location.

  • 5 of 5

Listing description was accurate but didnt do it full justice . The cottage was clean, tidy and full of lots of little extras that made our stay perfect. Super quite location with tremendous views of the countryside. Customer service and contact with Joan couldn't have been better. If you need a place to stay in Snowdonia then this is it. We used it as a base to travel all over north wales and its location was just perfect. Wouldn't change a thing about this property. It was brilliant.

Lovely holiday with stunning views - The Snug, title very fitting

  • 4 of 5

Thoroughly enjoyed our week at the Snug cottage. Very warm welcome with homemade bara brith and tea, coffee facilities laid out on arrival. This was a great and thoughtful of Dennis and Joan. Views are fabulous and plenty of walks available straight from the door. We had the added bonus of good weather so was able to make use of the lovely patio areas directly outside the cottage door.
