About Anne Morgan-Menzato
I came to France in 2012 from Australia for 3 months. I fell in love with the Moulin and with a Frenchman and stayed. We have spent the last 2 years making my vision of gites on the property into a reality.
Anne Morgan-Menzato purchased this cottage in 2012
Why Anne Morgan-Menzato chose Charente
Having spent a few months in the area I came with friends to look at a watermill. I had no intention of buying anything but when I saw it I immediately felt calm and at home, away from the hustle and bustle of my busy corporate life in Australia.
The Petit Moulin is in easy access distance of Jarnac and Cognac for shopping and restaurants but is set in the old part of Veillard. A friendly location with the added advantage of the Boulangerie in walking distance.
What makes this cottage unique
On of my favourite things here is the bird life. We have a pair of kingfishers who can be seen regularly on the little bridge in the garden, watching for fish. Ducks in the garden, a Heron, Egret and many others passing by.
Prices are for the property per week for up to the number of persons stated for each gite and are quoted in Euro. Prices include:- linen and towels changed weekly, hot water and electricity.
Notes on prices:
With a couple more cottages to complete there is a small amount of evidence of stored materials around and our prices are low to reflect this.

Rural retreat, perfect in every way
From the outside le petit moulin is full of character and beautifully kept. The inside is a wonderful contemporary surprise, with modern living at its very best. We have just returned from a lovely 8 day autumn break. The owners are charming, nothing is too much trouble, the grounds are lovely to walk round. Inside the gites there is everything you could wish for with high quality fixtures and fittings. The beds are massive and so comfortable. The welcome pack is a lovely touch and very appreciated. The whole house was immaculately clean. The village is tiny and very quiet, it has an amazing boulangerie. We've visited France for over 20 years, it is the best gite we have ever stayed in. There is lots to see and do locally, Cognac, Jarnac, Angouleme, La Rochelle, Talmont ..
Clean, modern gite
The host Anne was very accommodating and was present on arrival, any issues we had were sorted immediately. The gite itself is very clean, spacious and has everything you could need for your stay. Anne had even left us some food and wine to get us going on our arrival. We would thoroughly recommend this gite.
A little gem in the country
We were greeted very warmly by Anne.A bottle of wine and a baguette was on the table, there was milk, orange juice, butter and cheese in the fridge.Wonderful.
We found Anne and her husband Christian very caring hosts.
Their gite is finished to a very high standard.
We would recommend this very highly to everyone.
Jarnac is the nearest town and only about a ten minute drive!
We recommend visiting the small Pineau producers.
What can I say? This is definitely one of the better Gites we have stayed in. The Mill is being renovated to the highest specification and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing break
Outstanding properties and a wonderful welcome.
I found this property on the Internet by chance on a Sunday morning, my wife and I were extremely impressed with it. We booked immediately and were not disappointed when we arrived. A high class finish, the property was spotless. The owners Anne and Christian made my wife, three children and I very welcome. There is a local Boulangerie about two minutes walk up the road. The area is close to Jarnac, Cognac and La Rochelle is a little over an hour away.
I would thoroughly recommend this property to couples and families.
I never really make a habit of going on holiday to the same place again but with this property I cannot wait to book for next year. Thank you Anne and Christian.
