About the Owner

The owners, Raymond and Alison Calvert, live a mile up the road at Hoggarths Farm with their sons Andrew and Matthew. The farm is a working hill farm, breeding Swaledale sheep and beef cattle. Raymond has lived there all his life with Alison joining him from Scarborough when they got married. Rose Cottage has been in Raymond’s family for many years.

Wonderful cottage in a lovely area

  • 5 of 5

Cannot fault the cottage. Everything required for the perfect holiday in a lovely area.Nothing too much trouble for Alison and Ray.

Lovely walks along the river. The meadow alongside the cottage was a mass of colour with all the wild flowers.

Looking forward to our next visit.

A really delightful cottage in a beautiful part of the country. Rose Cottage is probably the most well maintained and comfortable holiday cottage we have ever stayed in, and there have been many! Thank you Alison for making us feel so welcome.

Fantastic cottage in great location

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was clean and well-equipped and made a fantastic location for a relaxing weekend away with friends. The surrounding scenery is wonderful and there are many beautiful walks from the village. Owners are very friendly and finding the log burner lit and a cake for our arrival was much appreciated!

Beautiful cottage, beautiful Keld

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is about as nice a home away from home as you could hope for...it's cosy, comfortable and has everything you need down to the last detail. Everything is tasteful and the log burner is the icing on the cake. Stepping outside into the fields surrounding Keld is a treat...you get the smell of wood smoke, the sounds of the sheep and birds and of course the beautiful sense of peace...the pitch black night sky is amazing too. Add to all that the pretty garden and the sheep peeping in to the lounge window and it's the perfect bolt hole in wonderful Swaledale. A great find and we'll be back! Thanks for the cake too x
