About Tony Alden

Being an ex-professional photographer and artist I never tire of the ever changing views that we enjoy from our property and love sharing them with our guests. You will even find one or two of my original paintings and photographs dotted around the cottages.

Tony Alden purchased this apartment in 1971

Why Tony Alden chose Tintagel

My wife and I have always loved the sea and Cornwall in particular and when we discovered Park Farm with it's stunning views of the Cornish coastline and Port Isaac Bay and the wonderful beach at Trebarwith Strand below, we immediately fell in love with it. We have never in all our years here had any regrets in buying Park Farm and living here for the rest of our lives. Now we enjoying sharing this very special place with our guests.

What makes this apartment unique

Having spent over 40 years enjoying a wonderful time at Park Farm Cottages in Cornwall, we have compiled a list of places of interest to visit - some well known, but many hidden gems, We have also compiled a file of lovely walks right from the door with maps and directions laminated to protect them from the weather

A lot of our guests say it is worth staying in our comfortable cottages just for the million dollar views.

Lovely cottage with everything you will need included, perfect for exploring North Cornwall, fantastic views over Trebarwith from the veranda & 3 mins drive from Tintagel.

“Terrific place to stay in Cornwall”

5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 June 2014 for a stay in June 2014

We shared the rental of a two bedroom cottage at Park Farm in June and were delighted with the accommodation. The cottage is well situated in a small village near Tintagel and contains everything you need for a comfortable stay including comfortable beds.. We made our own breakfasts and dinners and found the kitchen to be well supplied with everything

“Stunning views, great location”

5 of 5 starsReviewed 15 May 2014 for a stay in May 2014

We were staying in Crowsnest and had seen the view in the pictures online but it is even better in real life. It was lovely and quiet, but there was still a lot to do in the area. Tintagel Castle, Trebarwith Strand (beach and surfing), Bodmin, Bude, biking the Camel trail, Padstow. We went on some wonderful coastal walks. The accommodation itself is basic but very clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. In addition to the balcony, there is a conservatory which meant that we could sit and watch the sun go down with a glass of wine even when it was cold out. The owner had also left us a bottle of wine which went down very well!

View of paradise on earth

  • 5 of 5

My two daughters, one granddaughter and I LOVED our stay! Your place was idyllic and we especially enjoyed your "conservatory". Your picture does not exaggerate its beauty. We all hope you enjoyed your trip to Italy.

House was damp, smelt of cat wee at front door. Bath and kitchen very small.

  • 2 of 5

Very disappointed with accommodation. The house seems 'tired'. We could not lie down in bath and had to wait for hot water. Shower was weak so you did not get warm. Kitchen only really big enough for one person. Feel we were 'sold' the house on the view.

Owner's Response: I am sorry that you were disappointed with your stay in Crowsnest. We do our utmost to make sure that our guests enjoy their stay by providing comfortable accommodation, lots of information on things to do and see, we also provide a welcome of tea, coffee and biscuits as well as a complimentary bottle of wine to sip while enjoying the beautiful views. In answer to your complaints. We had the cottages damp-proofed by Rentokil with a 25 year guarantee when we renovated the property. With over 2000 miles of ocean virtually right outside the door, we therefore have high humidity and for that reason we have dehumidifiers in all cottages which we use whenever we are able between guests; these are also available for guests to use. There has never been a cat in any of the cottages for over 30 years. We do not allow animals as we have regular visitors with children who suffer from asthma and are allergic to animals. I can only assume that the smell in the entrance was introduced on someone’s shoes, it wasn’t apparent when the cottage was cleaned. This is as we describe It, a Cornish cottage and it therefore does have small rooms. The kitchen is described as a galley kitchen but it is fully equipped with built in oven/grill, microwave, fridge/freezer, toaster, kitchen sink and a large range of cooking utensils. In the bathroom with under floor heating we introduced a bath, all be it slightly smaller, with shower over in place of the shower cubicle. The shower is an 8.5Kw Tritan with adjustable settings perhaps you did not set it on high power. The hot water is heated with a thermostatically controlled immersion heater. There is an obvious delay from the time it is switched on to obtaining a full tank of hot water. It is unfortunate that on this occasion we were away for family reasons and were not here to sort out any problems. As you will see from the other reviews none of our other guest mentioned any of these problems. Tony Alden

Gorgeous quaint upper floor cottage apartment (Crowsnest). We loved every minute of our week away in Cornwall! Tony and Carol were excellent hosts, they didn't interfere at all, but were there in seconds when a bulb blew a fuse. Tony provided so much information of the area, we were spoilt for choice.

I would recommend Crowsnest to either couples or small families as there are two bedrooms, one double and one twin, a cosy lounge and small kitchen, everything you need, but the fantastic part is that it has it's own conservatory AND a balcony! Perfect for enjoying the views over Trebarwith Strand, but also the surrounding countryside, either dining al fresco or simply enjoying a chilled out drink at the end of the day. Every part of the day is absolutely beautiful at this place, irrespective of weather - although the sunshine and sunsets are definitely something else! Being totally honest, the photos do not really do this place justice - you need to try it for yourselves to see what I mean. We will definitely be back!

Cosy and comfy, with a view to die for

  • 5 of 5

Ideal holiday accommodation. Up the stairs to a pair of bedrooms, galley kitchen, lounge/diner and a bathroom. Well equipped, functional and clean, everything worked out well.

The best bit is the conservatory across the back, so you can sit inside snug & warm to admire the views or open the sliding door and go onto the balcony. The vista stretches from Trevose Head around to Tintagel with Trebarwith straight ahead.

Outside the property there is an off road parking spot (essential in Cornwall) and it's about 25m to the bus stop. So easy access to Tintagel, Boscastle or points further afield. Get to the beaches without suffering car parking charges or (as we did) explore the coast path by getting the bus up the coast and walking back.

Final plus point, free WiFi.

Summary - highly recommended and we shall be booking again.

Wonderful views from the conservatory

  • 5 of 5

We had a most wonderful stay at Park Farm Cottages. The house had so much character and the view from the conservatory was amazing! We loved walking along the beautiful and dramatic coastline. The hosts were very helpful and friendly and provided us with good information on what to do. The only drawback was that you must have a car. Hardly any bus connections and no stores in the village.
