About marie postles

Dear holidaymakers,

I am a designer and have spent much of this year refurbishing 1 Channel View to a high standard, very boutique, and with many unexpected extras for you to enjoy.

This apartment is owned by myself and my four children, Hector, Louis, Oscar and Freya. My parents lived here for over 30 years and it is somewhere we treasure with our hearts.

marie postles purchased this apartment in 1970

Why marie postles chose Lyme Regis and West Dorset

My parents bought this property to be next to the sea. As you gaze out of the window from the sitting room sofa, the seascape is beautiful and never the same twice.

What makes this apartment unique

You couldn't be closer to everything great that Lyme, the Jurassic Coast and The Cobb has to offer.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Lovely apartment, decorated beautifully. Had a wonderful honeymoon here.

Wonderful location, superbly equipped, comfortable and stylish, with the most stunning of views along the Dorset coastline I would certainly recommend this apartment.

The property is in a wonderful location, very close to the Cobb.

  • 4 of 5

The property is in a wonderful location, very close to the Cobb. We had a short break, which we enjoyed. Great views from the windows (downside is you feel very exposed) and couldn't smell fish from the shop below which we thought we might.

Really, it is a place for 2 bed-sharing adults and children, rather than 2 adults wanting separate rooms. Well-equipped though, so we had everything we needed for our short stay, and it was welcoming. Parking nearby (private, cheaper than public long stay) cost £9 a night so you'd need to factor it in to your holiday. The price reflected the location, but plenty of hot water, heating, etc., which made it a pleasant short vacation.

Top spot!

  • 4 of 5

Superb location and a very well appointed apartment. Lovely and clean with comfy beds. A little bit of constructive criticism and in my personal opinion, there were too many sheepskin rugs, cushions, rugs on the back of the sofa and floor cushions, not shown in the images, that cluttered the flat. A fresh coat of paint on the front door would definitively help with first appearances and more reed diffusers or similar are needed to eliminate the afternoons fish and chips smell coming from down stairs. Having said that, we all had a great time, slept well and enjoyed this lovely flats location. Thank you.

Superb long weekend in Lyme Regis

  • 5 of 5

Channel View is fabulous. What more to say? Perfect location. Excellent facilities. Clean and neat as a pin. Comfortable. Stunning view. Mesmerizing view, in fact: I spent most of Sunday on the sofa watching the tide go out and come back in and can honestly say I didn't feel any time was wasted, at all. There is a fish-monger around the corner, the local's favourite pub-restaurant just down the street, and Mark Hix up the hill in a garden if you are feeling like you have too much money weighting you down. Our little dog was fascinated by the floor to ceiling windows and spent nearly as much time as I did watching the life flow past on the Cobb. I can't wait to return.

Gorgeous. Simply the best spot in Lyme!

  • 5 of 5

I was recommended this stunning apartment by some friends who stayed in Lyme last year so I was eager to try it for myself and it did NOT disappoint! I found all communications with the owner to be most helpful (my friends have met her and she is apparently just so lovely) and am surprised having just read the previous guests comments that they had trouble accessing the apartment among other things? It was a breeze but then if you understand a keycode system it always is.

Upon entering, I knew I was in for a treat because it was instantly warm, welcoming and very homely. Every attention to detail has been considered by one very artistic owner, and I know from my own experience with my own holiday let overseas, that much care has gone into making this place a real home from home so that no-one should really complain about anything (ok, you will always get the nitpickers who go on and on!) This pad is just fantastic for a welcome retreat to the seaside at anytime of the year for so many good reasons which I hope to touch upon here.

The finishes are lovely... beautiful bedding, paintings, painted chalk walls, books, games... the kitchen was beyond well-equipped... and so much more. The bathroom a real treat with a rolltop and powershower and lots of knicknacks around.... then, of course... the kitchen area and open living space with views! Oh, those views!

Like my friends, I really cannot be negative about one thing! There is so much to enjoy about the place - both inside and out. So many lovely touches which I am going to steal (copy!!!) for my own place!!!!

I will definitely be booking again and it will be for one week minimum. I will say this to anyone... if you want the best views of Lyme Bay then you cannot beat this perfect spot. It is hands down the best place in town. Sure, I looked at other places to compare but take my word for it, as I took my friends... get to this place and transport yourself by the evershifting landscape of Lyme Bay because this is what you really came away for... not some tucked away place with no views down a back street.

John Fowles was mesmerised by the coastline and owned a spot just up the hill costing 5 times more than here...where you are right on the harbour, kissed by the beach and can smugly say to yourself this is simply the most perfect spot in the world to people watch people at the seaside.

Loved it! Nothing to complain about here just pure heaven. Thank you so much.

Wonderful localtion and outstanding view!

Wonderful apartment. Had a fantastic stay for 3 nights over the New Year Period. Our son and daughter in law joined us and we ate out during our stay - other than using fridge for milk never used any of the appliances. Our little dog also enjoyed his break - slept well due to lots of fresh air and walkies. We had a problem however accessing the property but the maintenance guy was prompt in coming out to let us in. I notice that we weren't the only looking at previous reviews who had problems getting in. Perhaps this needs attention for other guests. It wasn't however a tricky box outside but the wrong code given by website. In all we managed to get in and were delighted with the accommodation. There were however a few irritating issues beside difficult access and tap in the bathroom like your other guest mentioned....these were mainly DVD's and games in coffee table - was locked and no key. The games that were in the hall cupboard were great and a lovely addition. We tried to play several as it was New Year but every game we tried to play had bits missing so they were no good - probably need disposing of to avoid any disappointment - can see little hands have obviously been playing them. Its likely nobody would know they were incomplete unless you go to try them... Finally and this was what really upset us when after our return and feeling on a high with such a wonderful few days away I was contacted by the owner to say can I pay for a duvet cover that we must have taken as it was missing and replaced with a fleece which was not part of their inventory. I have never taken a duvet cover in my life and replaced it with another and this was most upsetting. Spoilt the whole experience sadly. I will still recommend this accommodation because we liked it. I just wish the cleaners and the owner would communicate better before accusing someone ....

Owner's Response: We have in the past had two Americans unable to use our key lock because in America you would put your code in and the door would automatically open and they did not realise the keys were in the box. Now in place clear instructions above the key box. The DVD's are in the coffee table and there is no key to lock the table? It could be someone staying on a previous visit has sat on the table and now has jammed the top. The games were all complete when put in the cupboard. I am sure a child has mixed the games up and due to time restrictions my house keepers cannot go through thirty games every week but will try to keep a closer eye. In our welcome book we do stipulate if we cannot allocate an item or damages have occurred we will get in touch with guests. We wish all our guests a happy and comfortable stay and will do our utmost to take on and act on any comments made.
