1 Channel View -Newly Refurbished Apartment Overlooking Famous Lyme Cobb Harbour

Overview

Property

Updated: 02-Dec-2016
Apartment in Lyme Regis, Dorset, England - With 270 Degree Panoramic Views Of The Harbour, this High Spec Apartment Is 15sec Walk From 2 Beaches

The apartment at 1 Channel View is in the unique position of being within the harbour area and Lyme Regis' famous seafront. This newly refurbished, high spec boutique apartment sits as a gem in Lyme's world heritage coastal site, enjoying 270 degree panoramic views looking out over the historic harbour, The Cobb, and the beach. Over Lyme Bay, to the east, at night the twinkling lights of Weymouth some 20 miles away can be viewed as the eye sweeps across the bay. The flashing lights from the lighthouse on Portland are seen, and most times of the day and night fishing boats and ships can be observed. Lyme is in an ideal position to explore the whole of Dorset either by car or along the South West Coast Path. Local activities in walking distance include excellent crabbing - the sea siders favourite sport, fishing trips, coastal and countryside hike, fossil hunting, diving, seafront pubs, Marine parade and theatre, crazy golf, local shops beside the residence and a number of restaurants. Celebrity chef Mark Hix's Oyster and Fish House fish restaurant is 5 minutes walk or in the summer they run a rickshaw taxi to and from the restaurant. River Cottage Canteen restaurant is 15 minutes drive away in Axminster. Positioned just 30 seconds walk from Lyme's two main beaches, Sandy Beach and Monmouth Beach, this tastefully appointed apartment sleeps five people with the option of an additional two. The London designer-led renovations have both restored the charm of the original building and incorporated modern facilities to ensure the maximum enjoyment and comfort for your stay. The stylish fitted kitchen opens out into the living/dining space. There are plenty of magnificent views over the sea. Each bedroom also has a balcony overlooking the harbour and back towards Monmouth Beach. Lyme's main town is a 6 minutes walk. You will find The Fisherman's Wife below your apartment which serves fabulous hand-dived scallops from Lyme Bay and freshly cut fries which people love!

Kindly note: the apartment is priced at £15.00 per person above 2 persons per night (children under 18 are not charged). If a four-legged friend is coming to stay the price will be charged at £30 a stay. When possible, we aim to greet you at the apartment.

About the Owner

Dear holidaymakers,

I am a designer and have spent much of this year refurbishing 1 Channel View to a high standard, very boutique, and with many unexpected extras for you to enjoy.

This apartment is owned by myself and my four children, Hector, Louis, Oscar and Freya. My parents lived here for over 30 years and it is somewhere we treasure with our hearts.

MOMENTS FROM THE BEACH!

  • 5 of 5

*** 5 STARS *** Best location ever. Can't beat it. Looked at loads in the area before choosing this blinding spot which ticked all the boxes. Top marks for everything. Sea views blew us away. Girlfriend said she could live here forever... next stop estate agents. Def. Recommend for weekend away. Next time we'll stay for longer. Local pubs good, too.

Best Place in Lyme Regis to stay

  • 5 of 5

Wow! We can't thank Channel View enough for letting us stay for our fossil-hunting trip. This is THE only holiday place in Lyme that knocks the socks off the rest in terms of location, home comforts and views. Having stayed in Lyme over many years in some sorry to say poky B&B's and other less well-equipped holiday lets (not located by the beach) we were determined to find a beachside holiday which looked homely, comfortable, modern and reasonably priced and this one truly has it in buckets and spades. We could not have been happier by the sea, especially the lesser known Monmouth Beach and cliffs made famous in the film The French Lieutenant's Woman. Even the walls in the apartment are painted a chalky sand tone so you feel very nautical! Best of all, you get the most gorgeous panoramic views of Lyme Bay, Golden Cap, the harbour and its 'Cobb' in all their majestic glory. We even got to know some of the cheeky locals who work on the boats! Do take a mackerel fishing trip on a sunny day as it is the best way to get a feel for the place with its pretty regency properties tumbling down towards the seaside. Pebbles, our Labradoodle loved it so much he didn't want to leave. Really looking forward to staying again in winter when the storms are lashing the coastline. Seriously well recommended for families, couples and dog lovers. Thank you once again. It was fantastic!

BEST LOCATION IN LYME REGIS!!!!

  • 5 of 5

I have loved Lyme Regis since I was little so to find this beautiful beautiful beautiful apartment literally just 10 steps from the sea was just a dream come true! As an artist I appreciate this perfect haven has been well thought out by someone who loves the arts! There are paintings and books everywhere! Paired with out of this world views which leave you awe-struck so much so you feel like you have struck vacation gold in Lyme and you have! You simply cannot but help stare out the window for hours watching the changing landscape and harbour activities. If you want to immerse yourself in seaside life there is no better place than this apartment which feels like you are floating above the sea and bobbing boats whilst immersed in a wonderfully modern and well-equipped boutique apartment. Thank you so much. We will be back as soon as we can as you cannot get closer to the sea than here!

The description of the apartment on the internet and also as conveyed to me verbally by the owner is accurate. The apartment is clean, well furnished, and equipped with a number of useful utensils etc for cooking. The cooker is excellent, although the refrigerator can do with upgrading. It is a pleasure to sit in the lounge and watch the sea and all the marine activity that is going on. There is plenty of storage space in the bedrooms; the beds are comfortable, and so are the pillows. In the bathroom there is a brand new walk-in shower, which is very easy to operate, with sufficient hot water available all the time. The wash basin is a bit ancient, as the hot water tap on the left seems to be on its last legs. In the hall there is a very useful guide book and all the contact details. There is plenty of material to read, ranging from children's books to very scholarly literature. Something that does need to be seen to is the box containing the keys at the front. It was very difficult to open the box, and one was worried in case we accidentally broke its mechanism. We were fortunate in that the husband of Viv came and helped us out.

There is good customer service, because one can telephone the maintenance man: and he responds quickly. We would be happy to recommend the property to any of our friends who may wish to go to Lyme Regis.

We enjoyed our days out to Beer in Devon, Chesil Beach and Hardy's cottage. The area has lots of history. We did not eat out, but I am sure there must be some good restaurants about. Most of the fish and chip shops and cafes are not particularly attractive or inviting, but they seem to be always busy. There are hardly any grocery stores near the apartment; one has to go to Broad Street; one has also to undergo some huffing and puffing of lungs owing to quite step gradients on the way.

Marks out of 10: 8.

SIMPLY THE BEST PLACE IN LYME!

  • 5 of 5

Wow! We have stayed in Lyme Regis many times over the years but NOTHING beats this fabulous apartment for location, location, location: breathtaking views, perfect comfort and total relaxation. You almost feel you are in the harbour itself due to its amazing positioning overlooking the whole stretch of Lyme Bay and Golden Cap. It is superbly-equipped for dining in, watching the world go by and midnight walks on the beach. Great local eateries are close by, too. Brimming with art & books, and some wonderful homemade touches (loved the hidden basket of treats) it is a truly delightful home-from-home vacation but with views to die for! I have recommended this little gem to all my friends and cannot wait to book again. My husband said our stay there was the most relaxing in years and I must agree. Not 5 star accommodation but 10!!! Thank you, Marie and family, it was not only sublime but unbeatable in terms of boutique-style seaside self-catering accommodation.

Beautiful apartment and location

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Channel View. Couldn't have picked a better location to enjoy the beauty of Lyme Regis and can honestly say it is one of the nicest places we have stayed and as it was for our honeymoon it was even more special.

The apartment is decorated stylishly with a lovely beachy feel. Cannot recommend enough.

My parents bought this property to be next to the sea. As you gaze out of the window from the sitting room sofa, the seascape is beautiful and never the same twice.

'Fossiling'- Lymes is a world heritage site and people travel from far and wide to fossil here.
