Elegant period Apartment in Upton-upon-Severn, Near Cotswolds and Malvern Hills

Overview

Property

Updated: 24-Nov-2016
Apartment in Historic Riverside town, Nr. Malvern, Worcestershire, England - Variety Of Amenities, Stunning Scenery. Private Parking. WIFI

The Old Pump House is an impressive first floor Georgian apartment with private parking, situated in the heart of Upton-upon-Severn. It offers spacious accommodation and has recently been modernised to a high standard, whilst maintaining its elegance and charm.

Idyllically situated between the Cotswolds and the Malvern Hills, Upton has built its reputation on, not only its picturesque river and Marina, but its quirky shops, pubs and restaurants. Upton is also renowned for its 4 exciting music festivals - Folk, Jazz, Blues and Rock. Whether you love walking, fishing, golfing, shopping, music, or just relaxing on the banks of the river, Upton-upon-Severn is a jewel of a town and the perfect place for a magical holiday.

With a beautiful play park just behind the house, offering a brand new tennis court, children's swings and a skate board ramp, it's also an exciting place for children of all ages.

A ten minute drive takes you high up onto the Malvern Hills where you can marvel at some of the most spectacular views in England. Much loved by walkers and hikers, Malvern has so much to offer - the Three Counties Showground, an outstanding theatre, the Morgan Sports Car factory, a golf course and many unusual shops and restaurants.

Cheltenham Spa, the beautiful capital of the Cotswolds, is a 20 minute drive down the M5. Many pretty historic villages and waterside towns, such as Tewkesbury, Ledbury, Leominster and Worcester are all on the doorstep, accessed speedily via the motorway or through rolling countryside.

This part of Worcestershire is dotted with golf courses, many with wonderful views. For those keen anglers, there are numerous designated fishing locations along the Severn Way leading out of Upton, many with steps and platforms for easy access, yet in quiet and peaceful surroundings. The Severn Way, a path which follows the Severn from its source in Wales right through to the Bristol channel, leads along the river in Upton and provides an ideal starting point for many gentle walks. Or longer ones for those with more stamina, to Tewkesbury, Worcester and further afield. Take a picnic and make a day of it!

Upton-upon-Severn offers a diverse selection of excellent restaurants, pubs and take-aways, catering for all tastes and pockets. There are also two small, but well stocked supermarkets, a post office, bakery and butchers, in addition to an interesting variety of antique, craft and gift shops. The amazing well stocked map shop is a particular feature of the High Street. The Pepperpot Heritage Centre and Museum add to the attractions of the town. The park offers a children's play park, football pitches, a tennis and basket ball court and skate board ramp and is situated just behind the house. Or take a river cruise on the Conway Castle pleasure boat to Tewkesbury - often accompanied with music or a cream tea.

The beautiful apartment benefits from a large open-plan living room/kitchen with piano, sofa bed and dining table offering a glimpse of the Malvern Hills. The spacious bedroom, with en-suite shower room, provides a double bed, oak desk and large wardrobe. There is also a pretty communal garden and conservatory. Private parking for one vehicle is available behind the house.

About the Owner

We really enjoy renovating and decorating houses. We have put a lot of thought and effort into this apartment's interior, as it is in such an unspoilt Georgian house with wonderful high ceilings and large windows overlooking the beautiful walled garden and playing fields. Our children have all left home, but they love coming to Upton - they particularly appreciate the pubs as the atmosphere is always warm and welcoming. We have a property in France which is an on-going project and, when the flat is rented, we take the opportunity to spend the time in France. But we are always very happy to come back to Upton, where we have the benefit of a thriving little town and the beauty of the river.

Perfect for Downtown Upton!

  • 5 of 5

Perfect for our short break in the area.

Lots to do and the weather enabled beautiful waking in The Malverns.

Accommodation was interesting, well equipped, clean and comfortable.

The welcoming bubbly and basics were a lovely touch.

I would recommend to others and consider returning!

The Old Pump House Apartment, Upton-upon-Severn

  • 4 of 5

Spacious accommodation, well appointed, comfortable and ideally located to explore the Malvern Hills and surrounding area. It was a bonus having off-street parking for our car in a designated spot.

The locals are lovely and I recommend highly the coffee shop a couple of doors up from the Old Pump House Apartment and the local pubs where we enjoyed a number of pints. I would also recommend the boat trip to Tewkesbury for exploration. We really enjoyed our time in Upton and would recommend it to others.

We found the owner very easy to deal with and hope to stay there again in the future.

Convenient and comfortable base for our stay near Malvern for the girls county cricket festival.

The apartment had everything we needed, with clean, comfy beds and soft towels, plenty of room, and places to eat nearby.

Would recommend to friends.

The apartment is exactly as the description states, perfect!

  • 5 of 5

The old pump house is delightful, quiet, very central location to the town. Upon arriving there were fresh flowers, a welcome card, fresh milk and a loaf of bread and a very welcome bottle of bubbly to get the weekend going, whilst we took our own provisions, tea, coffee etc there was already supplies available. The apartment was clean and welcoming, the kitchen was amazing and so well equipped. We would recommend the pump house as a relaxing place to unwind or as a base to go out exploring. We plan to go back again for longer next time. For a small town it has its fair share of pubs all of which had their own character and were very welcoming. Again there were places to eat and we had a luscious Indian meal at the Pundits restaurant, excellent food and huge portions!

Upton upon Severn is a traditional town which has kept its old world character...Loved it.

Location

From the Owner

Upton-upon-Severn is a really special little town - very quaint and friendly, with an all year round holiday feel. It is ideally located between the Cotswolds and the Malvern Hills and, being only 3 miles from the M50, it is perfectly situated for visiting the Three Counties Showground and surrounding towns such as Cheltenham and Tewkesbury. But you don't even need to get in a car - there is so much to do and see in Upton for all the family. Besides the 4 well renowned and exciting music festivals, there is always something happening - in the Marina, on the river, or in the town. We love the combination of a vibrant, historic town and the relaxation of river and countryside. It's the perfect place for a holiday!
