Overview

About the property

Apartment in historic riverside town, Nr. Malvern, Worcestershire, England - Variety Of Amenities, Stunning Scenery. Private Parking. WIFI

The Old Pump House is an impressive first floor Georgian apartment with private parking, situated right in the heart of the beautiful riverside town of Upton-upon-Severn. The elegant apartment has been recently modernised and offers well equipped accommodation with everything you might need for a comfortable holiday, including a bottle of bubbly in the fridge! Upton-upon-Severn is a friendly, bustling holiday town, idyllically situated close to stunning countryside and a wealth of picturesque towns and villages. Whether you love walking, site-seeing, fishing, golfing, shopping, music, or just relaxing on the banks of the river, Upton-upon-Severn is a jewel of a town and the perfect place for a relaxing, magical holiday.

Conveniently situated between the Cotswolds and the Malvern Hills, Upton has built its reputation on, not only its picturesque river and Marina, but its quirky shops, pubs and restaurants. Upton is also renowned for its 4 exciting music festivals - Folk, Jazz, Blues and Rock. Close to the Four Counties Showground, Upton is also extremely convenient for all the Malvern shows including the very popular Spring and Autumn events. Cheltenham race course is also easily reached down the M5 motorway.

The gorgeous period apartment, with its graceful rooms and high ceilings, benefits from a large open-plan living room/kitchen with a range of modern kitchen units, sofa bed, TV and dining area. The large bay windows offer a delightful glimpse of the Malvern Hills. The bespoke kitchen area has a dishwasher, 2 ring ceramic hob, fridge, combination microwave/oven, toaster and kettle. Even a spice rack! Although you don't have to cook when you come here - you may want to - we've tried to provide every cooking implement you might need and the local shops offer a wide choice of produce and ingredients.

The gracious bedroom, with en-suite shower room, provides a double bed, oak desk and large wardrobe. There is also an attractive, sunny communal garden and Victorian conservatory. Private parking for one vehicle is available behind the house.

Upton-upon-Severn offers a diverse selection of excellent restaurants, pubs and take-aways, catering for all tastes and pockets. There are also two small, but well stocked supermarkets, a post office, bakery and butchers, in addition to an interesting variety of antique, craft and gift shops. The amazing well stocked map shop is a particular feature of the High Street. The Pepperpot Heritage Centre and Museum add to the attractions of the town. The park offers a children's play park, football pitches, a tennis and basket ball court and skate board ramp and is situated just behind the house. Or take a river cruise on the Conway Castle pleasure boat to Tewkesbury - often accompanied with music or a cream tea.

A ten minute drive takes you high up onto the Malvern Hills where you can marvel at some of the most spectacular views in England. Much loved by walkers and hikers, Malvern has so much to offer - the Three Counties Showground, an outstanding theatre, the Morgan Sports Car factory, a golf course and many unusual shops and restaurants.

Cheltenham Spa, the beautiful capital of the Cotswolds, is a 20 minute drive down the M5. Many pretty historic villages and waterside towns, such as Tewkesbury, Ledbury, Leominster and Worcester are all on the doorstep, accessed speedily via the motorway or through rolling countryside.

This part of Worcestershire is dotted with golf courses, many with wonderful views. For those keen anglers, there are numerous designated fishing locations along the Severn Way leading out of Upton, many with steps and platforms for easy access, yet in quiet and peaceful surroundings. The Severn Way, a path which follows the Severn from its source in Wales right through to the Bristol channel, leads along the river in Upton and provides an ideal starting point for many gentle walks. Or longer ones for those with more stamina, to Tewkesbury, Worcester and further afield. Take a picnic and make a day of it!

About Carola McCutcheon

We really enjoy renovating and decorating houses. We have put a lot of thought and effort into this apartment's interior, as it is in such an unspoilt Georgian house with wonderful high ceilings and large windows. Our children have all left home, but they love coming to Upton - they particularly appreciate the pubs as the atmosphere is always warm and welcoming. We have a property in France which is an on-going project and, when the flat is rented, we take the opportunity to spend the time in France. But we are always very happy to come back to Upton, where we have the benefit of a thriving little town and the beauty of the river.

Carola McCutcheon purchased this apartment in 2014

Why Carola McCutcheon chose Malvern Hills

Upton-upon-Severn is a really special little town - very quaint and friendly, with an all year round holiday feel. It is ideally located between the Cotswolds and the Malvern Hills and, being only 3 miles from the M50, it is perfectly situated for visiting the Three Counties Showground and surrounding towns such as Cheltenham and Tewkesbury. But you don't even need to get in a car - there is so much to do and see in Upton for all the family. Besides the 4 well renowned and exciting music festivals, there is always something happening - in the Marina, on the river, or in the town. We love the combination of a vibrant, historic town and the relaxation of river and countryside. It's the perfect place for a holiday!

What makes this apartment unique

It was love at first sight when we saw this apartment - it is so elegant, spacious and bright. The Old Pump House is a beautiful period property, full of grace and charm, situated conveniently in the centre of Upton, yet away from the main traffic. The living room/kitchen, with its oak floor and range of modern kitchen units, provides open plan style and comfort. The south facing garden is perfect for sunbathing, picnicking, or enjoying a chilled glass of wine in the evening.

If you need somewhere to stay in Upton this is the place. Carola and Rick have thought of everything you could possibly need! We have just returned from our second visit and I cannot recommend it highly enough. The location is perfect and the bed very comfortable! Absolutely 5 star!

Worcestershire Gem

  • 5 of 5

A really great location to take in the surrounding area including the Malverns, Morgan Factory and Sudeley Castle. The apartment is perfect for a couple and has everything needed for a really comfortable self catering holiday - but the local restaurants can cater for many tastes should you not wish to self cater especially an award winning Indian which is superb. The accommodation is spacious so a visiting couple presents no problems. Communication with the owner is very efficient and helpful even when they were out of the country. We will definitely consider it the go to location for staying again which we are planning to do in the future as there is so much we did not experience, especially the trips on the Severn to nearby towns.

Truly a Gem.....

The apartment was everything we had hoped for, very comfortable and thoughtfully laid out in a lovel

lovely small town with everything near at hand. The only issue I would raise was the narrow access to the car park and the lack of space in the car park making parking very difficult for everyone. My car was damaged in the car park though no one got in touch with me about it. Anyway it did not effect our lovely holiday.

Owner's Response: We're glad that you enjoyed your stay in Upton-upon-Severn and that the Old Pump House apartment fulfilled your expectations. We have never had any complaints before and we are really sorry that you had problems with the car park. Parking in Upton is at a premium and we are lucky to have a private car park, with a large parking space, but the gates and lane into the car park are narrow and can be difficult to negotiate. We apologise for your difficulty and were sorry to hear about the damage to your car. In the circumstances we hope that we have been able to compensate you adequately with our special offer for future bookings.

Perfect location, fully equipped, clean and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

A clean, bright, welcoming apartment in a beautiful town. Close to all amenities and a wide selection of pubs and dining options, if you don't wish to take advantage of the cooking facilities in the apartment. Thorough joining instructions and easy access to the property with friendly and helpful communication from the owner. A brilliant accommodation option and highly recommended for those wishing to explore the Counties of Worcester, Gloucestershire and Herefordshire.

Accomodation and Surrounding Area.

  • 4 of 5

Accommodation was good for 2 people and its facilities were perfectly adequate. The surrounding area was excellent with plenty to see and do. Croome , Hanbury Hal and Malvern well worth a visit. Beautiful country side around. Our visit to the Malvern Spring show was superb and only a 15 minute journey away. Plenty of eating good places nearby. We particularly liked the Marina restaurant. Very good value and choice.

great location everything you need for a self-contained stay

  • 5 of 5

we went to Upton for the Folk Festival and staying in this lovely flat made it so comfortable and convenient. This flat situated right in the center of Upton was fully equipped with everything you could possibly need. Very comfortable, clean, warm and a beautiful historic building. Very spacious and we didn't want for anything the thoughtful owners has thought of everything we could possibly need, even covered the first night with bread and milk in the fridge. Would totally recommend this flat for a holiday home from home and are looking to book it again for next year.
