Stunning Normandy Farmhouse with 8 Acres of Tranquil Grounds

L'Auberdiere is a renovated 18th Century farmhouse, close to all the Normandy sites, 3 Bedrooms (2 large double bedrooms and 1 with 2 full size bunk beds), Large Farmhouse Kitchen/Diner with wood burning stove. Comfortable Lounge with Flat screen tv, Blu-Ray player & UK Satellite TV. Luxurious bathroom with freestanding oval bath and walk-in rain cloud shower.

The Farmhouse has grounds of 8 acres with far reaching views of the Normandy bocage countryside.

L'Auberdiere is ideally situated between Mont St Michel and Caen 45 mins drive to the D-Day beaches of Utah and Omaha; 10 mins drive to the market towns of Vire and St.Lo, both with a wide range of shops and places to eat. Campeaux, the local village, is 2 km. L’Auberdiere has excellent road and rail links to help you discover all the wonders and history that Normandy has to offer.

A 40 minute drive to the American D-day landing beaches of Utah and Omaha. Ten minutes to the market town of Vire with it’s aquatic centre. Two minute drive to Campeaux with it’s artisan bakery, butcher, grocer and bistro restaurant. Only 5 minutes from L’Auberdiere is the Viaduc de la Souleuvre designed by Gustave Eiffel (Engineer who designed the Eiffel Tower). As well as being a wonder of engineering, the site is a centre for adventure sports such as abseiling, bungee jumping, Europe’s highest rope swing and a luge run. Being in the heart of rural Normandy, there are excellent cycle and walking trails around the property, plus a little further out, there are numerous lakes and waterways to explore by kayak. While we are easily accessible by air (Caen Carpiquet 35 minutes) and rail (Vire 10 minutes), a car is essential as we are in a rural location. There a local attractions to suit every taste and interest.

L'Auberdiere is a 45 to 50 minute drive from the US D-Day landing beaches of Utah and Omaha and Granville, the birth place of Christian Dior and dubbed 'Monaco'

of the North. The British D-Day landing beaches of Gold, Juno and Sword are a 1 hour drive from L'Auberdiere.


Nearest Airport is Caen Carpiquet which is a 37 minute drive. Nearest Ferry port is Caen which is a 45-50 minute drive. Nearest railway station is in Vire which is a 10-15 minute drive. Guests can travel to Paris from Vire direct in approximately 3 hours. L'Auberdiere is 5 minutes away from the main A84 which links Caen and Avranches and 5 minutes from the N174 and D174 which connect St.Lo and Vire. These excellent transport links ensure you can explore Normandy with ease from L'Auberdiere.


65 minute drive to Mont St Michel, 52 Min drive to the Bayeux Tapestry, 45 min drive to US D-day landing beaches, 60 min drive to British D-Day landing beaches, 40 min drive to the tomb of William the Conqueror in Caen, 10 minute drive to the local market town of Vire with it’s markets, swimming aquatic centre, supermarkets. 2 minute drive to nearest village of Campeaux with it’s artisan bakery, butcher, grocer, mechanic. 5 minute drive to the Hackett bungee jumping at Viaduc de la Souleuvre.

Further Details:

The local village of Campeaux has an excellent restaurant/bar, artisan bakery, butcher, grocer, mini-supermarket, hairdresser and mechanic. It is within walking distance or alternatively a 2 minute drive from L'Auberdiere. The nearest main supermarkets can be located in either Vire or St.Lo. Both are 15-20 by car. Torigni-sur-vire has the closest bank to L'Auberdiere and is 10 minutes by car.

A 20% deposit is payable at the time of your booking. The remaining 80% balance plus a security deposit of 150 Euros is payable no less than 14 days before the start of your stay. The security deposit will be refunded in full within 14 days of the end of your stay, following an inspection of the property.

Changeover Day:
Our preferred changeover day is Friday, however, this is sometimes flexible. Check-in is from 3.30pm and check-out is before 11am.

Notes on prices:
A Cleaning fee of 35 Euros is charged for each booking. Prices include all utilities, firewood, linen and towels, WiFi.

This means that at the end of a long day of exploring the incredibly diverse Normandy region, you can return to L'Auberdiere and simply immerse yourself in the peace and tranquility of this stunning, rural location. It is an oasis of calm in this ever more hectic world, yet it has all the requirements of modern life with fast WiFi throughout, excellent road, rail and air facilities.

  • Outside: L'Auberdiere is surrounded by 8 acres of it's own gardens and meadow. With a mix of young and old fruit trees, herbs, fruit berries and natural meadow you will enjoy a beautiful and relaxing rural retreat. With a large gravel terrace at the front of the house, guests can enjoy full BBQ and outdoor dining facilities in a spacious and private environment. Play equipment is provided for children to use. Across the lane is a nursery field for dairy cattle where guests can witness the magic arrival of baby dairy cows. Next to the nursery field is a field of friendly donkeys who are always keen for a stroke. Utility Room: The utilities are located in the walk-in pantry in the kitchen/dining room and comprise dishwasher and washing machine with built in dryer. An ironing board and iron are also provided. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All towels and linen are provided free of charge for your stay. The property is cleaned before and after your stay and a cleaning fee is payable with each booking. Other: Free WiFi internet is provided throughout the farmhouse.
