Shanuri is a beautiful, traditional, 1840’s stone built croft house. She is set back in a quiet private cul-de-sac, 300 yards off the main A87 through Broadford on the Isle of Skye. This lovely 3 bedroom bungalow offers everything you could want from a holiday on Skye. With magnificent all round sea & mountain views, including the famous Ben-na-Caillich (Hill of the old woman) Red Cuillin, with the Cairn of a Norwegian princess on top clearly visible from the comfort of Shanuri's deck. Lovingly modernised throughout, Shanuri can sleep up to 6 people comfortably and is fitted with central heating, double glazing, multifuel stove, fitted kitchen and bathroom. Shanuri is 350yards (4 min walk) from the nearest pub and family restaurant, 400yrds from the beach and 6 miles from the nearest Michelin star restaurant - Kinloch Lodge. Broadford town centre offers a post office, bank, several restaurants and pubs, Co-op (Grocery store & Off license), pharmacy, 24hour A&E with 22 bed cottage hospital, GP surgery, Vet (pet food), Library, Council service point, gift shop, flower shop, chip shop, fresh local seafood shop, filling station, clothes shop, charity shop, hair dresser, jewellery shop, bike hire, art gallery, photo gallery, hardware store, tyre & car repair centre, home entertainment shop & the Isle of Skye Bakery and is only 2 miles away. Portree is 27 miles north-west and Kyle of Lochalsh (mainland Scotland) 7 miles south-east. The Sleat peninsula or "The garden of Skye", with the Clan Donald Castle Gardens and the Mallaig ferry lies 15 miles to the south. Broadford offers many outdoor adventures including sea kayaking, hill walking, biking and fishing to name but a few and also sports a football pitch, MUGA (Multi Use Games Area) and children's outdoor play park. Excursions to , Plockton for it's famous seal trips, seafood and palm trees, Dornie with Eilean Donan Castle (the back drop for the film "The Highlander"), Elgol for boat trips to loch Coruisk or the "Small Isles", Rum, Canna & Eigg, Glass bottom boat trips in Kyle of Lochalsh, Apple Cross with it's world famous Bealach~Na~Bha pass, a ferry trip to Raasay or even the otter sanctuary at Kylerae, Neist point, kilt rock, Dunvegan Castle and Colbost croft museum is all within easy reach. You can also get a seaplane from the local airfield, 3 miles from Shanuri, for an unforgettable flight across Skye and the Cuillin Hills. The Skye Serpentarium, 1 mile from Shanuri, offers a wide range of exotic reptiles and amphibians on show. The owner was very friendly and helpful.

Very clean and the kitchen was fully equipped with everything you need apart from having a grilling tray.

But there was things that made this holiday not as good as it could be.

First there is a TV but unless you have Netflix or a amazon prime you will be struck with BBC iplayer (which you are meant to have a to license for). We should've read the details more carefully because I assumed that when it says TV it meant you had normal TV channels. I've stayed at many places this is the first time I have come across not having TV channels.

The shower was not very good had very little pressure.

The bathroom has no extraction the window will not close it seemed jammed open a small amount for extraction purposes which made bath time a trial of fire and ice as it the wind kept blowing inside.

The washing machine only works on a cool wash.

Clean, well appointed cottage with lots of space and a lovely garden

We've stayed on Skye a few times now and Shanuri is the nicest cottage we have stayed in. Excellently appointed, spacious accommodation in a quiet setting. The garden was fabulous and the dogs loved running around in it. The welcome pack and wine were a nice touch and we had a very comfortable stay. I'd definitely go back next time we visit the island!

A cozy place to start and finish each adventure-filled day!

Our family of four really enjoyed our stay. The views were engaging from every window, and the situation in Broadford was ideal for exploring Skye. The cottage was comfortable, especially the beds! However, you might want to be sure to bring books, games, and devices to entertain everyone when the weather is uncooperative. Elsa-Lou and her family were warm and friendly hosts, and we would definitely visit again.

Wonderful Farm Cottage in Broadford on Beautiful Isle of Skye!

My family of three recently stayed in this beautiful Stone Croft Cottage on the Isle of Skye, and we could not have been happier with the cottage or our dealings with the owner; Else-Lou. The cottage though originally from the mid 1800's; was totally updated and clean and beautiful and had plenty of space for the three of us to hang out. It was located in Broadford, almost as soon as you get on the island from the mainland and it was close and convenient to everything on the island. It is situated on a farm with lovely views out both the front and the back of the cottage of the farm and the mountains and water beyond. My favorite view was from the large Kitchen window looking at both mountains and water. The cottage had all the modern conveniences you could want or need, with three large bedroom to choose from plus one very large bathroom with both tub and shower. The kitchen was well appointed with everything we needed and we enjoyed cooking in one of our two nights there, eating in every morning. The fireplace in the sitting room had firewood and kindling for us and that was an extra treat. The washer and dryer was a dream as we had been away from home for a week and a half at that point of our vacation. Else-Lou was so accommodating and was very easy to work with - both before the stay and during. Any questions I had she answered promptly and efficiently by email before our trip, and then she greeted us upon our arrival and was so gracious and helpful in planning what we could do & see while on the island. We will definitely be back to this lovely cottage and this beautiful part of Scotland. We highly recommend this cottage to families, couples, girl's night out, etc.
