About Jane Stiley

I am English with French partner who was born in the village so full of knowledge where to visit, we enjoy this wonderful region, We appreciate what our region has to offer - wines, châteaux and of course the most excellent food and restaurants.

I adore Antiques and all things Shabby Chic.

When possible enjoy meeting up with people who rent our cottage, many of whom come back year after even two or three times in the same year.

Jane Stiley purchased this cottage in 2000

Why Jane Stiley chose Mouliherne

I moved to France and choose the Loire Valley firstly after meeting a wonderful couple with whom I bought several properties with and I had the up most confidence in I felt when buying a property in a foreign country this is so important..

For me the Loire Valley was perfect. Not too hot or too cold.

Within easy reach of UK by ferry or plenty of easy airports also to connect with mainland Europe. Close enough to the coast for a day trip Recommend La Baule and we are lucky enough to live with some of the finest French wines, apple orchards surround us and châteaux to visit on our doorstep.

We love the climate and everyone is so friendly and helpful.

What makes this cottage unique

Our property and cottage have been totally renovated and we have enjoyed every minute, La Grande Maison is in a little place on the edge of Mouliherne called L`Oisellerie and La Petite Bijou is in the grounds so if you need us we are close but also have you privacy if you wish. If you want more to stay at the same place our house is oppisite Bijou , we have a room in our house too if someone wants to stay near to you on the ground floor so great for people midley disabled, in our property is in easy to walk to the lake just around the corner , but we have a large lake in our own grounds with plenty of fish for you to use if you wish.

Châteaux and vineyards are in easy reach and there are outdoor pursuits etc as well as places of historic interest. We have Golf and horse riding not to far away.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Tastefully decorated lovely cottage to stay exactly as described by the owners who are very nice and helpful. Very good location, although we couldn't find the place at first and the owner helped us with direction. Surrounded by vineyards, It takes only 15-20 minutes to reach Saumur where plenty of activities are available for both adults and children, shopping centre with supermarket, also from there you can start travelling along river Loire and visit Castles. We stayed for 3-4 days and would love to return and stay longer - so much to see! Anna London Trip advisor

Spent an enjoyable 10 nights in this well presented cottage, thoughtful welcome pack on arrival, cottage contained an array of cleaning materials. Well laid out accommodation, with everything that is needed whilst on holiday. We don't generally watch tv whilst on holiday but the added touch of English TV was a welcome change. Wifi worked best outside on the patio but the signal is coming from the owners house so was to be expected. Generous private garden available with a short stroll to a private lake. Not very much happening in the village of mouliherne, saumur which is a very nice place to visit was an easy 20 minute drive.

Lots of positives about the cottage, modern and clean, safe parking at night with a remote controlled gate to keep things secure Tripadvisor

Beautiful cottage in quiet, country location

  • 5 of 5

Spent two weeks in the Loire Valley in this beautifully decorated cottage. Jayne and Gerard are extremely friendly and are there on hand if you need them. Cottage has a lovely garden where you can relax and enjoy a glass of wine whilst reading a good book. Loire Valley is a picturesque area of France with plenty to explore, from beautiful French towns steeped in history to stunning forest walks, beautiful chateaus, museums and amazing zoos. Could have quite happily stayed. Can see why British people move to France!

Lovely situation. Quiet. Well appointed. Lovely character. Comfortable.

  • 4 of 5

The cottage is situated in a quiet rural situation, 5 mins cycle ride from Mouliherne. The downstairs is quite small but has everything you need. Lovely big shower room and toilet. Large comfortable double bedded room upstairs, and another twin bedded room. Quite low ceilings so you do have to watch your head! Quite dark downstairs (when it was dull) but we had our breakfasts on outside patio. Covered parking for car (and bikes). Jane was very helpful and approachable. Small children would find the stairs a bit tricky but overall would recommend this for two couples. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review, I am sorry it is dark as the windows are on one side of the cottage but when the weather is hot people find this a sanctuary to cool down, it is Bijou hence the name, It was lovely to accommodate you and glad we could offer you the little extra things you needed. We have children stay all the time and they find it quite an adventure. Kind Regards

Lovely cottage for a relaxing holiday

  • 5 of 5

Le Petit Bijou is a lovely cottage in a peaceful location. The covered porch was a great place to sit out no matter what the weather and the garden was perfect for our dog and young daughter and great for a BBQ and relaxing in the evening.

Jane the owner was on hand if we needed anything and was very friendly.

The cottage is a short walk from Mouliherne so perfect for getting the morning croissants. There is lots to see and do in the area.

We would definitely recommend a stay at Le Petit Bijou.

A gem in the Loire Valey

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing weak in this lovely typical French cottage in the small village of Moulihern. It is a beautifully furnished, warm and very cosy little house. We found it very clean and the kitchen was supplied with everything needed. We did enjoy our stay there and so did our dog! She loved the walks in the safe fenced area around the pond.

The house is conveniently situated if you want to explore the beauty of the valley with its numerous chateaus and museums and picturesque nature, as well as for a quiet country retreat.

Thank you so much, Jane! We have already recommended 'Le Petit Bijou' to friends of ours and we'll be very happy to come back again!!
