No requirement to take a taxi, bus, or car to see the wonderful sights of Edinburgh as you will be living in the midst of it. Outside the house there is a bus stop which all the city hop on/off tourist buses stop and also a direct local bus to Edinburgh airport. If required, there are two taxi stances within 50 metres. No more than a 10 minute walk is Waverley train station, the famous Princes Street, Harvey Nichols & Multrees Walk (Mulberry, Links of London, BOSS, Louis Vuitton, Kurt Geiger, Tommy Hilfiger and many more.) Cross the road to visit HOLYROOD palace, walk around the royal gardens, take a trip up Arthurs seat and when you require lunch or coffee you can nip back across the road to your house and treat yourself to a home brew of your own making, then carry on after a short nap in comfortable homely surroundings to do more exploring the fantastic city at your own time & leisure.

Walk round the corner and you will find yourself at the foot of the famous "Royal Mile" which is steeped in the history of Scotland. Meander up the "mile" to find many pubs, restaurants & tourist attractions. Cross

About Philip Hartley

I have lived in EDINBURGH all of my life with my partner Dottie. We have travelled extensively from Moscow, Hong Kong, Cuba to all the main European holiday resorts. I have properties throughout the city on long term leases. I decided to put my knowledge of travelling abroad and letting property to use. I am "dipping my toe" into the holiday market to provide my customers with a standard that I expect when on holiday.

My parents acquired the property in the early 70s to which I have now inherited. This has been the family home for 45 years.

What makes this house unique

I have had the pleasure of living next to Royalty, parliamentary folk, and city centre living but in a unique setting for sometime, and now wish to pass these benefits to others.

Excellent location! Comfortable home with all amenities. Our host Phillip met us at the bus stop and personally introduced us to his home. He also helped us on our leaving to the train station with 4 bodies and baggage. Thank you Phillip. We really enjoyed our visit. .

Excellent location with easy access to popular tourist spots. Owner very friendly and helpful.

We enjoyed our stay in this maisonette. It was warm, clean and comfortable with plenty of equipment provided. Great views from the windows of Parliament, Palace and Arthur's seat. Bus stops and taxi rank close by made it very easy to access spots further afield. Philip was conscientious in making sure we were fine. An information folder to browse at leisure would have been helpful but Philip was quick to answer a query when phoned. Tea and coffee were provided in the kitchen although we assume the milk was overlooked due to holiday. Would be happy to return in the future as many things still to visit and would recommend to others.

Everything we needed and more

My family of four (two girls, 11 and 13) stayed here in March 2017 for the better part of a week. Philip was incredibly easy to communicate with and very, very helpful in giving us directions to his place by transit (by far the easiest way) and meeting us. In fact, when our bus was rerouted due to a movie being filmed, we emailed during the bus ride and found a different stop where Philip met us and drove us to his place. The place is spacious, with two rooms upstairs (both rooms have double and twin beds each) and kitchen, living room/dining room downstairs. There was lots of space for cooking, family dinner and relaxing. The interior is a little dated but everything was comfortable enough and clean. The location of the apartment is amazing. It is quite literally across the street from Holyrood Palace at the foot of the Royal Mile. You can see the Scottish Parliament from the front window. Given that any tourist to Edinburgh is going to spend a fair amount of time on the Royal Mile (and areas just off it) the location is ideal and puts most of the major attractions within walking distance. We did one afternoon in the New Town via a hop-on-hop-off bus but otherwise didn't need transit or transportation anywhere. We left Edinburgh for Aberdeen by train and Waverly Station is nearby, also close enough to walk to. I would definitely recommend this apartment to other families!

Great!

The location of this apartment couldn't be better, and what a view! Straight up Arthur's Seat (our daughter chose to climb it; my husband and I didn't!). Right next to a bus stop, so access to the rest of Edinburgh was excellent. We loved the apartment.

Owner's Response: This family arrived on time-I met them at the bus stop (the bus from the airport arrives 50yards from the house). They were excellent guests and left the house in a first class tidy way. I would recommend this family as future guests without hesitation.

Wow!

Owner met us at the bus stop and made sure we had all we needed. The property was clean, well stocked... even coffee waiting for us! Beds were comfortable. And did I mention? We were across from Parliament and Holyrood Palace! Would book this property again!

Good location by Hollyrood Palace at the base of the Royal Mile

Philip gave good directions on finding the acomodation and we were met when we arrived via local bus from the airport. There was milk and fresh flowers for us upon arrival. The accomodation was not as clean as I would have liked and not all the beds were comfortable. We overlooked this because of the great location to all the things we wanted to experience.

Travel:

EDINBURGH Airport is serviced by the local bus (number 35 which stops directly outside the accommodation), tram or taxi. Car hire is always available as befits a major city of the world. Waverley Station is no more than a 10 minute walk.
