Historical house In the heart of Elie.

Overview

Property

Updated: 04-Oct-2016
Walled Garden, Sea Garden, and free Wifi

Located in the haven of the East Neuk of Fife, in the beautiful and popular seaside village of Elie, Wynd House is a centuries old house in which to spend a family holiday, retreat for a quiet winter weekend, base yourself for a golf holiday or celebrate a family event. It's position in the heart of the village makes it easy to access all the village has to offer yet it is extremely quiet and private.

There is plenty of space for groups to spread out in the house if they want or to congregate in one of the 3 reception areas. The house if full of interesting bits and pieces collected by the Wood family over many generations. This is not your typical holiday house, its packed full of history and charm.

The walled garden is huge and divided into 4 distinct areas - ideal for chasing the sun!. The private Sea Garden has a summer house and a ladder down to the beach (or sea at high tide). Elie is an established holiday destination so has everything you could need. There are shops, cafes and the AA Scottish pub of the year in The Ship Inn. There are lots of things to do including a water sports centre 5 minutes walk from the house, tennis courts, golf, walks (The Fife Coastal Path runs through Elie) and lots more within a 15 mile radius.

About the Owner

The house has been in the Wood family for several generations. It is steeped in history and that really comes through when you are sitting in the house. It has an almost stately quality about yet it is quite and relaxing and not intimidating at all.

We, Jamie and Tara, manage the house on behalf of the Wood family. We are close at hand in case you need anything during your stay and can advise you about local areas and amenities when you are booking

The house was perfect for our 3 generation party.

  • 4 of 5

Wynd house was a perfect choice for our group of 6 adults, 4 teenagers and a toddler.

There were 5 bedrooms, with comfortable beds and good quality linen. A camp bed would have been useful for the 10th bed.

A fascinating old building which dates from the 16th century it has mellowed over the years and now has a unique and welcoming atmosphere.

The ever changing view to the harbour is stunning and a ladder from the sea garden accesses to the beach or water depending on the tide.

Wynd house is very comfortable and user - friendly ( though not suitable for guests with mobility problems) and we had ample room for us all and loads of storage room for bicycles, golf bags, kayaks etc.

The gardens are delightful and we played badminton most evenings in the large garden , then watched the sun go down over the bay from the tiered sea garden. Pure magic.

A memorable holiday loved by us all.
