About verity elston

Hi my name is Verity and my husband is called Lee we have two children Josh aged 14, Kezia aged 12 and Macy the dog.

Lee has lived in Minehead all his life and I was brought up on Exmoor with my family who ran a successful Holiday Cottage business with 4 holiday cottages.

When we found 1 The Cross we knew instantly with a bit of love it would make the perfect holiday cottage for people to enjoy all year round.

We have made every effort to make the cottage the perfect base for your stay and we hope you love it as much as we do.

We know that when you go on holiday you don't want to be taking the essentials with you! so provided for your stay are all the boring basic essentials that you will need for your stay so you can get on with having fun! x

verity elston purchased this cottage in 2014

Why verity elston chose West Somerset

We live just down the road and think its such a beautiful part of Minehead to live, we enjoy taking our dog Macy for long walks around North Hill.

What makes this cottage unique

It's such a peaceful setting its perfect for a relaxing holiday and being located in the "old town" of minehead it is steeped in history with the historic St Michaels church and Church steps being on the cottages doorstep it really makes you stop and think what it would of been like many hundred of years ago.

Dear Verity, Lee & family

Many thanks for making the cottage so welcoming for us, the flowers, chocolate etc and it is obvious that you have thought of everything, we have loved staying here!

We have ventured far and wide and it has been a perfect holiday, the weather was just 'the icing on the cake'!

Many thanks again.

Yet another perfect stay

  • 5 of 5

Surely the highest recommendation is to keep returning to the same property. This was our second stay and we are already planning our next.

Having rented it last year for just the 2 of us we were wondering how it would cope with 2 more adults and a lively dog. The answer was 'easily'. It was a fantastic family holiday.

The weather was kind which meant we got to enjoy the pretty and secluded garden from breakfast time until late evening.

Everything was there for us to cook and there are plenty of places within walking distance for the days we wanted to eat out.

My only complaint would be the fact that my fishing trips only produced one tiddler. My daughter had more luck crabbing in the harbour. Ah well, there's always next year.

Owner's Response: We were so pleased you booked to stay with us again and to bring your daughter. It sounds like you had a fantastic walk even meeting one of the locals in the woods for a chat, although we were disappointed to hear about the lack of fish 🐟 you caught, maybe next time 👍🏻👌🏻 Verity, lee, Josh and Kez 😊

Home sweet home!

  • 5 of 5

A lovely, comfortable, peaceful and very clean cottage. It's already been said - Home from home - so true. We enjoyed our visit from the warm welcome by Verity on arrival to the warmth of The Minehead bell ringers at St. Michael's church on our final day, what an experience. So much to see in the area, the beautiful views from the cottage and the breathtaking drive around Exmoor. Thanks again Verity and also for the generous welcome pack. We hope to return one day.
