About verity elston

Hi my name is Verity and my husband is called Lee we have two children Josh aged 14, Kezia aged 12 and Macy the dog.

Lee has lived in Minehead all his life and I was brought up on Exmoor with my family who ran a successful Holiday Cottage business with 4 holiday cottages.

When we found 1 The Cross we knew instantly with a bit of love it would make the perfect holiday cottage for people to enjoy all year round.

We have made every effort to make the cottage the perfect base for your stay and we hope you love it as much as we do.

We know that when you go on holiday you don't want to be taking the essentials with you! so provided for your stay are all the boring basic essentials that you will need for your stay so you can get on with having fun! x

verity elston purchased this cottage in 2014

Why verity elston chose West Somerset

We live just down the road and think its such a beautiful part of Minehead to live, we enjoy taking our dog Macy for long walks around North Hill.

What makes this cottage unique

It's such a peaceful setting its perfect for a relaxing holiday and being located in the "old town" of minehead it is steeped in history with the historic St Michaels church and Church steps being on the cottages doorstep it really makes you stop and think what it would of been like many hundred of years ago.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Dear Verity, Lee & family

Many thanks for making the cottage so welcoming for us, the flowers, chocolate etc and it is obvious that you have thought of everything, we have loved staying here!

We have ventured far and wide and it has been a perfect holiday, the weather was just 'the icing on the cake'!

Many thanks again.

Very clean, nice to have an empty cupboard in the kitchen to store food.

  • 5 of 5

The house is positioned in a good location to walk into town or to the beach. Very quite even though facing the road as very few vehicles passed. Good to have enough hangers in the wardrobe. Kitchen well stocked with utensils etc if you get the urge for baking. Nice touch to have a milk in the fridge and a welcome basket. Tiled floor downstairs throughout which is good for dogs.

Second Time Around

  • 5 of 5

Being our second visit to the cottage, again we were not to be disappointed. Verity’s attention to detail in the presentation of this cottage together with its cleanliness makes it have that lovely warm and homely feel to it. The bonus of a totally enclosed garden gives the added sense of security when allowing the other member of our family - Amber (our dog) to roam freely. As with our previous visit, the fresh flowers, milk and a welcome basket is a very nice and thoughtful touch for our arrival. With the weather being very kind to us enabled not only glorious beach and wooded walks, but also allowed ‘chilling’ on the cottage’s sunny patio area nearly every day. All in all a very nice holiday, in a very nice cottage, provided by a very nice lady and subsequently we hope to return in the not too distant future.

A beautifully restored cottage with a superb garden. Immaculate and comfortable.

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed here many times, as always we received a very warm welcome. The cottage is beautifully restored and is always immaculately clean. The garden is a calm and restful space in which to snooze, eat and drink in .. and to listen to the church bells on a Friday evening.
