About the Owner

Hi my name is Verity and my husband is called Lee we have two children Josh aged 14, Kezia aged 12 and Macy the dog.

Lee has lived in Minehead all his life and I was brought up on Exmoor with my family who ran a successful Holiday Cottage business with 4 holiday cottages.

When we found 1 The Cross we knew instantly with a bit of love it would make the perfect holiday cottage for people to enjoy all year round.

We have made every effort to make the cottage the perfect base for your stay and we hope you love it as much as we do.

We know that when you go on holiday you don't want to be taking the essentials with you! so provided for your stay are all the boring basic essentials that you will need for your stay so you can get on with having fun! x

OOOOOH...what a lovely cottage....

What a wonderful cottage No 1 The Cross, Minehead is. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would return again definitely. Everything has been well thought out for the visitor without exception and we were even able to take advantage of the lovely patio area in the garden due to the pleasant weather we had in October. It is a wonderful base for exploring the area, even the walk back up the hill from the centre of Minehead wasn't as daunting as we first thought it might be. We did feel a lot fitter by the end of the week!! We would certainly recommend this cottage to our friends and family and anyone else looking for a lovely comfortable and warm cottage in the Minehead area.

A welcoming cottage with good amenities close to the town but in a quiet location

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is well equipped and spotlessly clean. It has been very sympathetically modernised / restored and has every amenity needed for a holiday. The owner is very keen to please and to be helpful. The location is quiet although the Town Centre and sea front are only about 10 minutes walk from the cottage. Visitors should be aware that the walk is very steep to the town and sea, and that available parking is on the road. The road facing out of the cottage is wide and we did not have any problem finding a parking space. Would highly recommend this cottage and location.

Well equipped and immaculately clean, lovely garden!!

  • 5 of 5

We just loved stopping at this cottage, all guests needs were taken into consideration. We didn't use any of the restaurants in Minehead, we dined 'in' every night because the cottage and its garden were just a lovely place to be. The cottage has been lovingly refurbished without taking away any of its traditional charm or character. We would definitely go back. We texted Verity the owner, to say that we had arrived and she popped in to say hello within 15 mins, she couldn't have been more helpful. The only negative thing we could say is that unless you have access to a car, the climb from the town centre, up the hill is very steep and therefore perhaps not suitable for those with limited mobility, however, there's always a taxi - we really would recommend a stay at this cottage.

Have just arrived home with the holiday blues having spent a week at 1 The Cross.

We spent a good few days browsing various sites looking for a holiday cottage and this place stood out by a mile, it was the cottage that made us choose minehead as a base.

The photos really dont do it justice, the owners have renovated it beautifully and we loved the shabby chic look.

All the little touches like the welcome basket and flowers really stand out.

The cottage is well equipped and i enjoyed reading a couple of the chick flick books that were available!

It really was so homely and we were sad to leave.

The cottage is a 10 min walk to a really lovely sandy beach, shops and places to eat. And a great base to explore the coast.

We visited dunster castle, lynmouth which is great for rockpooling and ventured as far as ilfracombe which is a great coastal drive (with some very steep hills and the exmoor sheep and ponies wondering in the road!)

We can easily say this is the best accommodation we have ever stayed in and would highly recommend.
