About verity elston

Hi my name is Verity and my husband is called Lee we have two children Josh aged 14, Kezia aged 12 and Macy the dog.

Lee has lived in Minehead all his life and I was brought up on Exmoor with my family who ran a successful Holiday Cottage business with 4 holiday cottages.

When we found 1 The Cross we knew instantly with a bit of love it would make the perfect holiday cottage for people to enjoy all year round.

We have made every effort to make the cottage the perfect base for your stay and we hope you love it as much as we do.

We know that when you go on holiday you don't want to be taking the essentials with you! so provided for your stay are all the boring basic essentials that you will need for your stay so you can get on with having fun! x

verity elston purchased this cottage in 2014

Why verity elston chose Minehead

We live just down the road and think its such a beautiful part of Minehead to live, we enjoy taking our dog Macy for long walks around North Hill.

What makes this cottage unique

It's such a peaceful setting its perfect for a relaxing holiday and being located in the "old town" of minehead it is steeped in history with the historic St Michaels church and Church steps being on the cottages doorstep it really makes you stop and think what it would of been like many hundred of years ago.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Dear Verity, Lee & family

Many thanks for making the cottage so welcoming for us, the flowers, chocolate etc and it is obvious that you have thought of everything, we have loved staying here!

We have ventured far and wide and it has been a perfect holiday, the weather was just 'the icing on the cake'!

Many thanks again.

My sister and I stayed for a long weekend that wasn't long enough as we didnt want to leave the cottage. Its beautiful inside and out. Both bedrooms are a delight to sleep in, one being ensuite shower. There is also a lovely downstairs bathroom with a bath. The cottage has everything you could possibly need and the kitchen and contents could not be faulted. The decor has been well thought out and is very cosy, the lounge through to the kitchen is granite slabs.. The garden is set with furniture, plants and lawn and probably great for a lazy evening in the summer. The cottage is elevated near the church with lovely views. We did not have a car but there is on street parking at a premium. We ourselves walked down and back uphill into town every day. If at the age of 67 and 77 we can walk it, then so could plenty of younger ones! Verity, the owner, saved the day when we departed as I locked my handbag in the cottage and she very kindly came down to let me back in. A beautiful cottage that I would highly recommended.

Beautiful little cottage

  • 5 of 5

This is a very sweet little cottage, full of character and very cosy for a few days break in February. Me, my girls and Jasper the dog thoroughly enjoyed it. Minehead, especially the old town, is such a lovely place to explore and everybody we met was so pleasant and chatty.

We'd definitely love to come back again, maybe in warmer weather so we can make use of the lovely outdoor space and garden.

Thank you Verity

Fabulous cottage in a beautiful quiet position

  • 5 of 5

A beautiful cottage with everything you could need. Verity is a very charming, helpful friendly lady. We had a lovely long weekend relaxing. It is unusual to find such a beautifully presented, well kept cottage that allows dogs. We would recommend this particular cottage to anyone.
