Stunning house in Nantille, Saint-Jean-D'Angely, Charente Maritime, Poitou-Charentes, France - Set Along Side Vines & Sunflowers & Close To The Family Friendly Atlantic Coast

This is our main property that we rent out for 6 weeks in the summer whilst we live elsewhere. It sleeps 6 + cot in comfort with the main bedroom benefiting from en suite facilities. A new extension has been added that can be used as either a garden room or cinema room. Our 10 x 5mtr heated salt water pool awaits the whole family or maybe to relax in the hot tub is your thing. For parents with young children/ babies then our new heated (to 31c for 8 months of the year) , 60cm deep pool will help little ones who are ready to learn to swim or just play for the first time in a pool under the supervision of their parents. Brand new bikes are free to use for all on our numerous quiet roads & tracks. Table tennis, table football, a 30mtr zip wire, football pitch, badminton & 2 trampolines will keep everybody entertained during your time here. With luck our various hens will provide you with plenty of fresh eggs & our vegetable garden will offer delicious fresh produce to consume with fresh local seafood & your favourite bottle of Bordeaux red.

About the Owner

We had a dream of moving to France, so after getting married in early 2004 we decided to spend a few weeks in the Poitou Charentes area. I guess now looking back to then we were pretty naive when it came to taking on a huge rebuild project as it's totally different to doing anything like this in the UK, but 3 years later we opened our doors to our first guests & have been loving every year since welcoming guests new & old to our lovely family home & the stunning area that we live in. We now have 2 young children who also love what we have created here from what was a sleeping beauty of a house & barns.

Having moved from the UK in 2004 we wanted to find something different to just a house in France. We loved the Charente Maritime with its sunflowers, vines and fine sandy beaches but also wanted a perfect location to start our family and again - the Charente Maritime ticked all of the boxes. So here we are almost 13 years later & loving it!

Coast/Beach:

The Atlantic coastline is noted for having some exceptional beaches including those on the Ile d'oleron, Royan, La Palmyre, Ile de Re & La Rochelle. 45mins in a car & you'll be at the family friendly sandy beaches at Royan.

Buckets & spades can be borrowed from our collection.

Travel:

The nearest Airport at La Rochelle is well served by all of the major low cost airlines whilst other airports at Poitiers, Bordeaux (International)& Limoges offer a further range of connections.

Coming in by car is straight forward. The main autoroute exits at St Jean d'Angely & then a further 15 mins & you'll be at the gites. Coming from the tunnel or Calais then its approx 7 1/2 hrs or coming from Le Harve/ Dieppe or Cherbourg is roughly 5 hrs.

We would recommend a car when you are here.

Distances:

We are situated in between the towns of Cognac, Saintes & St Jean d'Angely. La Pommeraie is on the edge of a small hamlet close to a couple of villages. 2 minutes away is St Meme which has a Bar/Restaurant, post office & small shop. St Jean d'Angely has a twice weekly market which is 15mins by car. The Roman town of Saintes has a market nearly every day & is 20 mins away. Cognac with it famous Cognac houses is 25 minutes away.

The beautiful newly built garden room can also be used as a stunning cinema room (additional £140) as it has black out blinds all around. The main bedroom has a lovely French cherry super kingsize bed with ensuite, combine this with 2 heated salt water swimming pools, 6 seater hot tub & huge play area. Whist a sunny terrace at the front is a great place to soak up the sun. For those who would rather have shade then all around there are shady corners to sit & read a book. Once you've stayed in one of our gites you'll see why in 2015 78% of our guests were repeat clients from previous years!

Notes:

  • Notes on accommodation: We think our home will be a home from home for you so that you'll enjoy all that this area has to offer. Plenty of light through out, a great BBQ & quality furniture will make your families stay a memorable one. Outside: To the sunny front of the house is a tiled terrace with a teak table & 6 chairs & a stainless steel BBQ. The gites benefit from 2 pools & a 6 seater hot tub all safely positioned in a walled courtyard garden to the front of the property. Both of the pools are heated by solar panels.The main pool is 10 x 5mtrs with steps in whilst the 2nd pool is for youngsters of 8 & under & with a water depth of 60cms. Around the gardens & play areas we have positioned tables, chairs & benches for your benefit. We have created a huge play area for children of all ages including a 30mtr zip wire, 2 trampolines, table tennis, table football, swings slides, football pitch, volley ball net & a specific toddlers play area with sand pit & lots of toys. We also keep chickens, a goose & Truffle our dwarf pig at the bottom of the gardens. The whole property sits in 6000m2 of gardens which for your piece of mind is completely fenced in for your peace of mind. Utility Room: Plenty of storage space along with a large load washing machine. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels & linen are provided. please do bring your own pool/beach towels though as we do not provide these. The house is cleaned prior to letting & is expected to be left in a clean, tidy condition at the end of the stay. Other: Off the lounge is a new 35m2 garden/cinema room. It has a set 4.5mtr bi-fold doors that can be opened onto the garden & a dining table & 6 chairs. Close the shutters, draw the blinds & the room turns into a stunning cinema room with a 4.5mtr screen.
