Lovely little cosy cottage

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely stay at the Rivendell cottage during our half term, the cottage was clean and tidy and had all the little creature comforts needed to make our stay pleasureable.

We couldn’t fault anything with it at all, the only thing I will say is that the main road was very busy.

We had a lovely meal at the Middleton arms during our stay which i would highly recommend too. We would definitely revisit the cottage.

Location

Pickering offers several interesting places to visit including the Castle, the Beck Isle Museum and the North Yorkshire Moors Railway where you can catch a steam train over the North Yorkshire Moors to Whitby.

The Moors are a perfect place to go walking and also Dalby Forest which is a 5 mile drive away where there are lots of walking and cycling routes to follow.

The East Coast resorts of Whitby, Robin Hoods Bay, Scarborough, Filey and Bridlington are all within a 30 to 40 minute drive.

Flamingo Land Zoo and Leisure park and Eden Camp wartime museum are only a short drive away. Helmsley, Hutton Le Hole and Thornton Le Dale are all pretty villages well worth visiting.

The historical walled city of York is a 25 mile drive away.

There are several stately homes including Castle Howard where Brideshead Revisited and Victoria were filmed all within easy driving distance.
